  • The purpose of this study is to explore the interior therapy that introduced the concept of therapy into interior space. This study examines interior therapy based on the concepts of stress and therapy. As the study methods, a qualitative analysis to review the concept of interior therapy was conducted together with a quantitative analysis on the current state of domestic therapy-related researches. The scope of the study is limited to domestic journals published from 1988, when the first domestic research was embarked on to analyze the current status of therapy-related researches, until November 2016. According to the study results, the domestic therapy-related studies were mainly focused on aromatherapies and food therapies. By year, the first domestic study of its kind was conducted on logotherpay in 1988. And until 2000, studies were carried out mainly on aromatherapies. Since then, new psychotherapy research fields have emerged; color therapy in 2003 and food therapy in 2008. However, in the space design field except for color therapy-related researches, there have been not sufficient studies on the indoor space therapy field that investigates the possibility of indoor space as a therapy from an integrated viewpoint. Therefore, this study reviewed domestic researches on interior therapy which applied the concept of therapy to interior design and suggested three cognitive-emotional-behavioral measures as healing factors. Finally, this study is expected to be used as basic data for design planning and curriculum development which apply the concept of therapy to interior design-related fields.

  • Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a targeted-tumor treatment system using a photosensitizer, light and oxygen to treat malignant tumor. We have investigated the cytotoxicity of 4 types of phthalocyanine derivative (silver phthalocyanine, iron (III) phthalocyanine, copper (II) phthalocyanine, nickel (II) phthalocyanine) against lung and breast cancers based on photodynamic therapy. As a result, phthalocyanine derivatives indicated a higher anticancer activity on a breast cancer cell line. Among the tested phthalocyanines, silver phthalocyanine (AgPc) showed a lower cytotoxicity against a normal cell line. In addition AgPc gave a good color characteristic when it is solubilized in water. Finally AgPc was selected as a potential antitumor agent for breast cancer.

  • This study was a qualitative investigation into the food security and food variety among the rural elderly. For the qualitative data collection, nineteen elderly people who lived in Yangpyeong-gun were interviewed individually. Food security and variety was evaluated based on accessibility and affordability. The participants seemed to have difficulty preparing their own meals and eating with their families or others. The frequency of vegetable intake was found to be high, as vegetables were available through cultivation. However, in terms of diversity, the intake of meat and milk, which are sources of protein and calcium, was found to be significantly low. This has to do with very poor physical accessibility. A lack of nutrition education was identified as the biggest reason for not following dietary therapy despite having a pre-existing disease condition. Therefore, for the elderly in Yangpyeong-gun, it is suggested that a basic nutrition policy for food supply that can increase their actual intake is more essential than education on cooking and nutrients. Moreover, periodic nutrition education or a regular counseling system for dietary therapy through local public health centers may help improve the health of the elderly.

  • How to appropriately apply the theories of oriental diet therapy in terms of direction and development are pressing concerns. To address these concerns, this study was performed to provide basic ideas to further the understanding oriental medicinal cuisine(Yack-Sun) and aid its application. Presently, basic data on the nutritional composition and oriental diet therapy area approach of Reajerksodo-tang was acquired to predict the usefulness of Reajerksodo-tang as an edema-related diuretic to promotes urination, drains heat and leaches out dampness. Reajerksodo-tang energy was 67.3 kcal per 100 g, crude protein was 77.2 g, crude fat was 5.7 g, crude ash was 0.6 g and carbohydrate was 16.5 g per 100 g. This basic data could help guide the application of oriental medicinal resources into other foods and serve as a stepping-stone for use of Reajerksodo-tang in the burgeoning field of function foods. Lastly, the scientific effects of oriental medicinal foods developed according to oriental medicinal theory. It is believed to be essential for government policy development concerning validation of medicinal effects and assessment, with the aim of fostering systematic development and providing guidance to food development in the interest of national health.

  • Infantile atopic dermatitis(AD) may be developed by food allergens due to immature intestinal epithelium and its mechanism, which may have no clear-cut evidence, is thought to be IgE mediated immediate and late phase hypersensitivity. It is not easy to diagnose AD caused by food allergens exactly so it is likely to be underestimated more than it be. But we must consider it as a major factor of not only infantile AD but childhood and adult AD. We can see similar theory at previous Oriental medicine. Allergens can be transmitted to a fetus through the placenta and infantile AD is inflammatory condition by food allergens and immature function of intestines. So we must consider those factors at infantile AD treatment. We expect a new model of infantile AD treatment combining the conventional therapy with the diet therapy based on the Oriental medical theory.

  • This study was a qualitative investigation into hemodialysis patients' dietary practices. The purpose of this study was to explore the obstacles and requirements to maintain a recommended diet therapy in hemodialysis patients. Five patients undergoing hemodialysis in the renal chamber of the general hospital were interviewed individually. The interviews were based on an interview guide and analyzed by Giorgi's method of analysis. As a result of this study, five elemental factors and 12 subelemental factors were derived. Derived elements were "difficulty in dietary guidelines", "recognizing necessity of diet therapy", "awareness of importance of diet", "difficulty practicing diet therapy", and "looking for ways to practice diet therapy". Patients not only felt difficulties in practicing dietary guidelines but also recognized the need and importance of diet therapy. Patients seemed to have difficulty practicing meal therapy and eating with their families or others. They were also stressed by the limited selection of dietary components and rapid dietary changes before and after dialysis. However, patients showed a willingness to implement dietary management to improve their quality of life and to practice dietary therapy. In order to improve the practice of dietary management in hemodialysis patients, nutritional education should be focused on long-term dietary habits through continuous education and monitoring, not just one-off education. Moreover, patients should be educated that adherence to dietary control may be less burdensome on their families.

  • This study was carried out to investigate the relationship between diabetic control and related factors of the practice of diet therapy which affects mostly diabetic patients’ dietary compliance. A questionnaire survey was conducted on 128 diabetic patients who had visited Internal medicine endocrinology clinic at University Medical Center of Daegu area. The questionnaires including clinical characteristics, meal regularity and food intake which shows dietary compliance, intrinsic barriers to the practice of diet therapy and knowledge of diet therapy were asked and analyzed. The factor which affects HbA1c was intrinsic barriers and HbA1c became higher as the level of intrinsic barriers was increasing. The education on diet therapy had no influence on the intrinsic barriers, but the level of knowledge on diet therapy was shown higher in the educated patients. The above results suggest that the practice of diet therapy should be leaded to develop behavioral aspects through resonable motivation on dietary compliance along with removing intrinsic barriers rather than simply providing information.

  • Background: Fixed drug combinations are formulations containing two or more active ingredients in a single dosage form. Such combination therapies are commonly applied to improve efficacy, reduce adverse events and replace co-administration, etc. National and international guidelines for hypertension treatment recommend addition of other classes of antihypertensive drugs rather than incremental dose of mono-therapy, when blood pressure is not adequately controlled. Thus, many dual combinations of antihypertensive drugs have been approved and pharmaceutical companies are recently interested in developing antihypertensive triple combinations. Clinical trial designs for the fixed combinations are various depending on the target patients, dosage and clinical endpoints. Thereby, further discussions for the clinical trials of antihypertensive triple therapies are required regarding the indication claimed. Conclusion: This article provides a review for the assessment of the label and medical reports of the clinical trials on antihypertensive triple therapies in advanced foreign countries.
