  • This research has studied developing the persona model based on alan cooper's user oriented design which is newly in the limelight in the field of product design process. As developing the persona model, In-depth interview and FGI(focus group interview) has been conducted for extracting car navigation user group's motivation and using attribute. Based on research, three different car navigation user group were divided-low using & understanding the function group, medium using & well understanding the function group, heavy using & well understanding the function group. This research yielded the foundation for setting the persona model and this persona gives the key factor for producing the user oriented user Interface design after all.

The online survey contained questions pertaining to goals, schedule, contents, arrangement, atmosphere, environment, evaluation, and satisfaction regarding the clerkship. The focus group interview addressed the schedule and achievements of the program. Scores were reported on a 5-point Likert scale. Most students were highly satisfied with the overall quality of the clerkship. The structured interview results showed that 97.6% of the clerkship program was executed according to the schedule. The focus group reported a perfect score of 5 points on several measures including: accomplishment of the educational goals of the family medicine clerkship, providing many chances to obtain medical histories and perform physical examinations on real patients, experience with various symptoms and diseases, positive attitudes of faculty members when teaching, notification of the guidelines for evaluation beforehand, well-constructed and effective clerkship schedule, and reflection of student feedback. However, the focus group gave low scores on: support for health accidents of students, access to patient information, enough opportunities to practice clinical skills, appropriate rest facilities for students, and fairness of clerkship evaluation process. In conclusion, the structured evaluation performed after the 3-week clerkship program motivated students and helped them ensure an efficient clerkship. • The purpose of this study was to explore practical meanings of convergence education and to seek ways of implementing it in school science education. The study adopted focus group interview method in order to elicit science teachers' perceptions and practical knowledge related to various ways of integrating educational aims and contents from the perspectives of science education. Two focus group interviews were held with four science teachers with the themes of the concept and potential of convergence education, and the implementation and systemic support, respectively. The qualitative data was analyzed by deriving major themes comprising teachers' perception on convergence education: they are 1) related concepts and rationales, 2) contents, methods, and assessment, 3) the characteristics of the science subject that make it suitable for convergent education, 4) teacher perception and professionalism required for implementing convergent education, and finally 5) environmental conditions for putting the idea into practice. Based on this result, the study discusses conceptual and practical issues for implementing convergence education in ways that contribute to overcoming the problems of the traditional educational system and reorienting science education towards the future society.

  • The area of design is the key which can create the generation's core values consistently influenced by the various media, throughout the rapid growth of technology and globalization. In the past, the design used to be defined as 'aesthetic', 'decorative', and 'satisfaction of the sensibility'. However, we believe it is time for a different value followed by the issue of user's different backgrounds and cultures. As the need arises, cross culture study has requested that we analyze how we understand the user's backgrounds and cultures. By doing so, it defines the user's needs like focus group interviews and methodology on process of product development or evaluation. Therefore the subject of this study is how the communication between two groups are affected by the difference between two cultures that centers on focus group interviews which has different consequence by diverse cultural backgrounds and personalities. Because personalities cannot be separated from cultural context, we have the compared group as a result of MBTI and establish practical methodology for proving the cultural factor which influenced to the difference of communication ways.

  • To identify "Gongsik", defined as food-sharing by picking food from a common plate using personal utensils, we conducted 7 focus group interviews including 47 university students during a 6 month period. Focus group discussions were audio taped, transcribed, and categorized into major themes. We divided Gongsik into the following categories: practical reasons, socio-psychological reasons, boundaries, suppressive situations, emotional characteristics, attitudes towards using different utensils, and future prospects. Gongsik appeared to be useful for fostering quick food sharing, intimacy and solidarity, and a fixed behavior learned at home. If the amount of food was too small to provide individual servings, as in Jjigae, Gongsik was likely to occur spontaneously. Family, close relatives, friends, and lovers sharing common activities and/ or blood ties were composed the boundaries of Gongsik. However, Gongsik was avoided in elegant restaurants or in view of foreigners. Participants showed mixed feelings towards Gongsik. Gongsik conducted with a spoon was considered to increase the degree of suggested intimacy in a food sharing context. Half of the students believed that the practice of Gongsik would be maintained into the future. Gongsik is a culturally-specific behavior that includes both positive and negative meanings. Aside from improving understanding of the cultural aspects of food-sharing, we suggest that the negative aspects of Gongsik related to the issue of hygiene be considered in food and nutrition education.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the differences by comparing consumption tendency of the Flatfish and Salmon using focus group interview (FGI). The FGI was conducted on university students in their 20s, with a total of 38 respondents surveyed in seven focus groups. Flatfish was recognized as a food in the form of popular sliced raw fish and had customer image that fit for middle-aged men in their 40s and 50s while eating with alcohol. 20s were perceived to be out of date with their age group as flatfish was considered old fish that did not match their age. In addition, they felt low accessibility to flatfish. Salmon was perceived by 20s as a food with a higher appeal than flatfish. Salmon has been creating a brand identity in their 20s and 30s for fashionable and trendy food that appealed to younger generations. They considered characteristics of salmon high in intangible value, such as something sophisticated, trendy, and beautiful. 20s consumed various forms of salmon including salmon sushi, salmon bowl, and salmon fillet, and they perceived it as a psychologically close food that can be easily accessible. In this study, the color of species (orange color of salmon), accessibility, restaurant image, and social media exposure were found to influence the consumption patterns of two species.

  • Purpose: In the nursing profession, it is imperative that students are able to transfer their undergraduate knowledge and skills into practice to become competent nurses. The aim of this study was to illuminate how infection prevention and control (IPC) education would be conducted in undergraduate nursing programs. Methods: A qualitative design utilizing focus group interviews as its data collection method was employed. Twelve professors from twelve South Korean universities that have undergraduate nursing programs were recruited as research participants and divided into two focus groups. Results: Focus group interview analysis showed that IPC education in undergraduate nursing programs for fostering IPC competency was composed of two categories: a pre-clinical course and a clinical course. Each included three subcategories-education contents, education strategies, and considerations of how infection control is taught to students as they continue from beginning to advanced-and the themes of each subcategory were derived. Conclusions: The findings of this study can provide an overview of how nursing professors should teach IPC education to undergraduates. As IPC education for nurses is very important, more in-depth discussions that include educators, clinical mentors, and nursing students regarding IPC education are needed to ensure patients' safety in clinical settings.
