초동극성분포를 이용한 홍성지진의 Focal Mechanism 연구 (A Study on the Focal Mechanism of the Hongsung Earthquake from the P-Wave Polarity Distributions)

  • 본 연구에서는 P파형의 초동극성 분포를 이용하여 홍성지진의 Focal Mechanism을 평가하였다. 비선형 전산처리과정을 이용하여 원지진진앙거리에서 관측된 9개의 P파형의 초동극성 분포와 주향, 경사 및 상반변위방향의 변화로부터 구한 Focal Mechanism과의 부합성을 조사하였다. 위의 과정을 이용하여 처리한 결과 주단층면의 주향 및 겅사는 약 247도 및 약 78도로서 홍성부근지역의 선구조와 잘 일치함을 보여주었다. 그러나, 주단층면의 상반변위 방향은 약 40도에서 약 160도 까지의 광범위한 값을 보여주었으나, 이는 관측점의 방위각 분포가 불충분하기 때문인 것으로 분석되었다. 위에서 결정된 Focal Mechanism이 의미하는 주응력 방향은 일본 트렌치를 따라서 태평양판이 유라시아판 아래로 Subduction할 때 가능한 지응력장가 상반되지 않음을 보여 주었다. 또한, 이러한 Focal Mechanism으로부터 원자력발전소나 핵폐기물 처리장 및 처분장 건설시, 부지고유응답 스펙트럼 및 강지진동 자료와 같은 내진설계기준을 위해 필요한 한반도의 지진지체구조 특성에 대한 정보를 얻을 수 있다.

Focal Plane Damage Analysis by the Space Radiation Environment in Aura Satellite Orbit

  • Radiation-induced displacement damage which has caused the increase of the dark current in the focal plane adopted in the Ozone Monitoring Instrument (OMI) was studied in regards of the primary protons and the secondaries generated by the protons in the orbit. By using the Monte Carlo N-Particle Transport Code System (MCNPX) version 2.4.0 along with the Stopping and Range of Ions in Matter version 2010 (SRIM2010), effects of the primary protons as well as secondary particles including neutron, electron, and photon were investigated. After their doses and fluxes that reached onto the charge-coupled device (CCD) were examined, displacement damage induced by major sources was presented.

Analytical Study of the Image Reconstruction of Fourier Holograms Using Varifocal Electric-Field-Driven Liquid Crystal Fresnel Lenses

  • A novel method is proposed for controlling the distance of an image plane in Fourier holograms using varifocal electric-field-driven liquid-crystal (ELC) lenses. Phase Fresnel lenses are employed to reduce the thickness and response time of the ELC lenses. The voltages applied to the electrodes of the ELC Fresnel lens are adjusted so that the lens has the same retardation distribution as an ideal lens. The focal length can be controlled by changing the retardation distribution with the applied voltages. Simulations were conducted for the image reconstruction of Fourier holograms with various focal lengths of the ELC Fresnel lenses. The simulation results indicate that the distance of the image plane can be properly controlled with the varifocal ELC Fresnel lens.

  • As Korean engineering contribution to ALMA enhancement, development of focal plane arrays(FPAs) for the total power array in ALMA compact array has been projected mainly to increase mapping speed in interferometric multi-pointing observation(mosaicking). To tackle engineering issues expected in order to be compatible with the existing ALMA receivers, we plan to develop a prototype 300-500 GHz heterodyne FPA system including a software spectrometer using GPU clusters for ASTE(Atacama Submillimeter Telescope Experiment) telescope by 2017.

  • As an enhancement to increase mapping speed of the current ALMA TP array, development of a focal plane array system working at ultra wide frequency range of 275-500 GHz with GPU-based software spectrometers has been carried out since 2015. Major progresses on such component development as wideband DSB mixers, a profiled corrugated horn, receiver optics, LO system and GPU-based spectrometer are reviewed with brief introduction to implication of ALMA 2030 for technical implementation.

  • The microbolometer array sensor with fine pitch pixel array has been implemented to the released amorphous silicon layer supported by two contact pads. For the design of focal plane mirror with geometrical flatness, the simple beam test structures were fabricated and characterized. As the beam length decreased, the effect of beam width on the bending was minimized, Mirror deformation of focal plane in a real pixel showed downward curvature by residual stress of a-Si and Ti layer. The mirror tilting was caused by the mis-align effect of contact pad and confirmed by FEA simulation results. The properties of bolometer have been measured as such that the NETD 145 mK, the TCR -2 %/K, and thermal time constant 1.99 ms.

  • We present a simple experimental method for determination of limiting intrinsic fixed-pattern non-uniformity (NU) due to fabrication process in two-dimensional CCD multiplexers (MUXs) that are used for hybrid focal plane arrays. Here, this is done by determining separately the two NUs viz. that are $V_T$ dependent and $V_T$ independent. From these measurements, process dependent NU can be extracted. It is argued that $V_T$ dependent NU can be eliminated by designing novel input circuits whereas $V_T$ independent NU, primarily, dependent on process control and material variations may be reduced but cannot be eliminated completely and hence limits the FPA performance eventually.

  • 밀리미터파는 안개 또는 연기등에 의한 시계불량 환경에서의 고해상도 거리 및 영상정보 획득에 사용될수 있으며 광대역 통신에서도 활용되고 있다. 그러나 밀리미터파 시스템의 성능평가를 위해서는 밀리미터파 전파에 관한 이론 및 실험적인 고찰을 필요로 한다. 밀리미터파의 강도변화 및 MCF는 대기현상이 밀리미터파 전파에 미치는 영향을 표시한다. 본 논문에서는 QOM 기법을 이용하여 기상자료에 의하여 얻어질수 있는 MCF로부터 안테나 초점평면에서의 강도분포를 효율적으로 구할수 있는 실질적인 방법을 제안하였다.
