This study was conducted to find the capability of comparison of overall oxygen transfer coefficient in the membrane coupled high performance reactor (MPHCR) in treating high organic loading wastewater. Effluent quality had been analyzed while the influent organic loading rate was changed from 2 to $7kg\;COD/m^3{\cdot}day$. The oxygen transfer coefficients had been investigated using two-phase nozzle for operating variables which were internal circulation flowrate (5~8 L/min), air flow rate (0.0125~0.2 L/min), liquid temperature ($10{\sim}20^{\circ}C$), and pure-oxygen flow rate (0.0125~0.2 L/min). The overall oxygen transfer coefficient was increased with flowrate of internal circulation and air and high temperature. Especially, internal circulation flow rate showed distinct effect on overall oxygen transfer coefficient due to an increase of gas holdup and air-liquid contract area by two-phase nozzle. In the high range of organic loading rate from 4 to $7kg\;COD/m^3{\cdot}day$, the removable efficiency of COD was 91%. Conventional activated sludge process usually treat organic loading from 0.32 to $0.64kg\;COD/m^3{\cdot}day$ however, the MPHCR can treat 10 to 20 times higher if it would be compared to the conventional activated sludge process. Foaming problem often happened and caused biomass wash out of the reactor, therefore, the foaming should be controlled for the enhanced operation.

Mullite short fibers have been fabricated by adapting the Kneading-Drying-Calcination (KDC) process and characterized. The effect of the addition of foaming agent and calcination temperature on the formation of mullite fibers from coal fly ash, was examined. In the present work, ammonium alum $NH_4Al(SO_4)_2\;12H_2O$ synthesized trom coal fly ash and sodium phosphate $Na_2HPO_4\;2H_2O$ were used as foaming agents. After calcination at $1300^{\circ}C$ for 10 h and then etching with 20% HF solution at $50^{\circ}C$ for 5 h using a microwave heating source, the alumina-deficient $(AI_2O_3/SiO_2$ = 1.13, molar ratio) orthorhombic mullite fibers with a width of ${\sim}0.8mm$ (aspect ratio >30), were prepared from the coal fly ash with $AI_2O_3/SiO_2$ = 0.32, molar ratio by the addition of $NH_4AI(SO_4)_2\;12H_2O$, and with further addition of 2 wt% sodium phosphate. The excessive addition of sodium phosphate rather decreased the formation of mullite fibers, possibly due to the large amount of liquid phase prior to mullitization reaction.
Heat treatment condition for the stabilization of foamed glass block through the foaming process of the hydrolized waste glass was investigated and scale-up test for the manufacturing of foamed glass was also attempted for the actual foaming process. Proper heat treatment condition was quenching from the foaming temperature to $550{\sim}600^{\circ}C$ for stabilization, and then annealing from stabilization temperature to $200^{\circ}C$ and holding up at $200^{\circ}C$ for removal thermal stress, and then annealing to the room temperature with cooling speed of $0.3^{\circ}C/min$. Through this heat treatment conditions, foamed glass block with size of $250mm{\times}250mm{\times}90mm$ was produced successfully. The properties of this foamed glass block showed density of $0.28{\pm}0.06g/cm^3$, thermal conductivity of $0.048{\pm}0.005kcal/hm^{\circ}C$, moisture absorption of $0.5{\pm}0.09vol%$, linear expansion coefficient of $(8.6{\pm}0.2){\times}10^{-6}m/m^{\circ}C$($400^{\circ}C$), flexural strength of $15.0{\pm}0.6kg/cm^2$, and compression strength of $39.5{\pm}0.6kg/cm^2$.
Erythritol is a four-carbon sugar alcohol with a low calorific value and non-cariogenicity. Erythritol is a new functional sweetener which can be used as sugar alternative. Erytheitol dose not cause discomfort such as diarrhoea and flatulence upon ingestion. The purpose of this study is to develope a novel process of erythritol economically in a large scale. To obtain a high erythritol producer, we have screened 3500 colonies from molasses, honey and honey combs. We have selected 40 erythritol-producing microorganisms, one of which yields 140g/L erythritol in 40% glucose medium. We have tested this strain in 5L fermentor to examine the fermentation characteristics. Results of fermentation show that the erythritol production was about 1.4g/L$.$hr in 400g/L glucose media with a 42% conversion. Further improvements require mutation for a higher producer, process optimization to reduce glycerol, and suppression of excessive foaming.
In a foaming process of microcellular plastics (MCPs) with a injection molding, research on the viscosity change that occurs when the gas is injected to the polymer has received little attention despite its importance. The purpose of this paper is to provide the basic data required to determine the processing condition by measuring viscosity changes against the gas injection rates of the blowing agent, and to verify the influence of the viscosity change on the flow condition of polymer inside the mold at the injection process.

Dissimilar material friction welding such as STD11 and SCM440, we are considering of such things as strength and tenacity of welding interface, which consist of friction welding rotation frequency, friction heating pressure, upset forging-pressure, friction heating time, and upset forging-pressure time. From the study, obtaining the interrelationship between welding condition and quality(toughness, tenacity), we can set the best range of welding condition. while performing acoustic emission examination for the nondestructive evaluation, we can deduce the interrelationship among total acoustic emission counts, friction welding variable, and quality during friction welding, which can solve the manufacturing difficulty and enhance the economic value.

There is a great demand for reducing the amount of material used in mass-produced plastics parts, for material cost constitutes up to 75% of the total production cost. Plastics do not easily decay which causes environmental problem. Furthermore, material reduction therefore decreases the amount of oil needed for the manufacture of plastics and thus help conserve this natural resource. Therefore, microcellular foamed plastics(MCPs) was developed at MIT to solve these problem alternation 1980's. Until now, however, microcellular foaming process not designed systematically because the key factors governing the process were not clear. The goal of this research is to obtain the optimal design of the microcellular plastics by using axiomatic approach.
Low density polyethylene (LDPE) has been researched in many industrial applications, and LDPE/zeolite 4A composites has been extensively studied for many applications such as microporous, breathable film and so on. LDPE/zeolite composite have a great potential for carbon dioxide adsorption film due to its high adsorption ability. In this study, LDPE/zeolite 4A composites with various contents were prepared by melt mixing process, and co-extrusion process was applied to develop a $CO_2$ adsorption conventional film and foamed film. The thermal, rheological, mechanical, physical and morphological properties of composite films has been characterized, and $CO_2$ adsorption of the composite films evaluated by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and the performance was found to be about 18 cc/g at 30.9 wt% of the zeolite content.

With recent developments in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the manufacturing industry has changed rapidly. Through key aspects of Fourth Industrial Revolution super-connections and super-intelligence, machine learning will be able to make fault predictions during the foam-making process. Polyol and isocyanate are components in polyurethane foam. There has been a lot of research that could affect the characteristics of the products, depending on the specific mixture ratio and temperature. Based on these characteristics, this study collects data from each factor during the foam-making process and applies them to machine learning in order to predict faults. The algorithms used in machine learning are the decision tree, kNN, and an ensemble algorithm, and these algorithms learn from 5,147 cases. Based on 1,000 pieces of data for validation, the learning results show up to 98.5% accuracy using the ensemble algorithm. Therefore, the results confirm the faults of currently produced parts by collecting real-time data from each factor during the foam-making process. Furthermore, control of each of the factors may improve the fault rate.
Simplification of the manufacturing process in shoe making is essential to improve productivity and reduce production costs. To improve the adhesion of EVA foam used as a midsole, EVA/itaconated EPDM(EPDM-g-IA)(80/20wt%) blend was prepared using Torque Rheometer-Plasti-Corder, and 1,6-hexamethylenediamine/crosslinking agent/foaming agent/additive were mixed, followed by amidation reaction and foaming to prepare EVA/EPDM-g-IA foam for shoe midsole. In this study, we investigate the effect of the content of 1,6-hexamethylenediamine(0, 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, 3.0) on the mechanical properties, water-contact angle and adhesion of EVA/itaconated EPDM foam. As the content of 1,6-hexamethylenediamine increased, mechanical properties such as tensile strength, tear strength, tensile elastic modulus, hardness, and water-contact angle were lowered, but elongation at break and compression set(%) were increased. Both normal type and non-UV type adhesive strength increased with increasing diamine content. In particular, it was found that the adhesion strength of the non-UV type adhesion increased sharply with increasing diamine content. As a result, an adherend rupture occurs in a foam sample having a content of 1,6-hexamethylenediamine of 3phr. From this, it can be seen that the EVA/itaconated EPDM foam for shoe midsoles, which can be used for non-UV adhesion without primer and UV treatments, have been developed.
