  • To enhancement heat transfer performance, the metallic foam as heat exchanger was studied rapidly. This was attributed to its high surface area to volume ratio as well as intensive flow mixing by tortuous flow passages. So the experimental study about the heat transfer characteristic of metallic foam is presented in this paper. The material in this experiment was used as FeCrAl which has density of 10 ppi, 20 ppi and 30 ppi respectively. And the results show the heat transfer is rise with permeability Reynolds number increase and the pressure drop metallic foam was increased with the ppi increase.

  • Recently, heat island and dry island phenomena occur frequently due to land surface development and excessive energy consumption in urban areas. As a result, the surface temperature of the building and the entire temperature of its surroundings are increased, and as a result, the durability of the building is rapidly deteriorated. In order to suppress these causes, a method of maintaining the temperature of road heating wires was implemented as a temporary measure, but this did not predict climate change. Therefore, this study is a method to measure the compressive strength, density, and thermal conductivity of lightweight concrete using waste glass foam beads. After fabricating a simple chamber, the temperature and humidity of the inside and outside were measured with an Arduino device in consideration of external factors. Therefore, if waste glass foam beads made through proper mixing are constructed in the urban center, the quality of the urban can be improved.

  • Foamed concrete is a porous concrete that is cured by mixing bubbles into cement slurry. It is lighter than ordinary concrete and is characterized by higher insulation. Lightweight foamed concerte is mainly used as a sandwich panel in Korea, and is also used as a refractory filler in fireproof safes. Studies on lightwight foamed concrete have been carried out on strength, density and thermal conductivity. However, it is confirmed that the research on the fire resistance performance is very limited. Based on this study, fire resistance of lightweight foamed concrete using expanded polystyrene beads is investigated.

  • In recent years, the construction industry has also applied the dry method that can be assembled in the field by industrialization and factory production, which is free from climatic effects and can reduce the cost due to mass production and simplify the work in the field. Among the building materials used in this dry method, ALC products are made by mixing calcium oxide, gypsum, cement, and water in silica and putting them in an autoclave to create voids in the interior through steam curing at high temperature and pressure. But it requires curing cycle conditions of warming, isothermal, and temperature curing. It depends on the performance of the product depending on the curing conditions, the economical efficiency due to high oil prices, the emission of greenhouse gases by the use of fossil fuels. Experiments were conducted to select an appropriate animal protein foam for lightweight foamed concrete block which was cured by applying a prefilling method to replace existing ALC products. As a result of investigating the characteristics of lightweight foamed concrete by type of animal protein foam, it is considered that FP3 is most suitable for manufacturing lightweight foamed concrete block.

  • The purpose of this study is to improve overall performance of prefoamed lightweight cellular concrete for On-Dol system floor. This study includes 4 sections as follows. \circled1 Analysis of the structural characteristics of On-Dol System focusing on the lightweight cellular concrete insulation layer. \circled2 Establishment of the mixing design equations. \circled3 Development of some admixtures used with foaming agent. \circled4 Improvement of the equipment for onsite production. This study has proven that, compared with the current existing one, the newly developed lightweight cellular concrete has been reduced the usage of cement by 20% and the cracks caused by cement drying shrinkage up to 80% but has shown the increased compression strength by 20% at 7 days curing period. The volume contraction of freshly prepared cellular concrete by the loss of foam was hardly found in newly developed lightweight cellular concrete.

  • Fly ash has different chemical composition depending on the type and quality of flaming coal. Fly ash is classified according to carbon content and particle size. Waste glass powder is manufactured by crushing glass. Exterior Insulation Finish System (EIFS) is generally applied by using poly-styrene foam which is economical and has excellent thermal insulation performance. However, poly-styrene foam has excellent insulation performance, but it is vulnerable to fire, which is becoming a serious problem. In this study, using a fly ash and waste glass powder to produce a finishing mortar at high temperatures. Also, High temperature strength and flame retardant properties were tested according to the cover thickness. From the test result, finishing mortar prepared using fly ash and waste glass powder is due to the improved heat resistance by alkali-activated bonding. However, since the strength decreases at high temperatures, it is necessary to select an appropriate mixing proportion.

  • At present, the research on wave propagation in graphene platelet reinforced composite plates focuses on the propagation behavior of bulk waves, in which the effect of boundary condition is ignored, there is no literature report on propagation behaviors of guided waves in graphene platelet reinforced metal foams (GPLRMF) plates. In fact, wave propagation is affected by boundary conditions, so it is necessary to study the propagation characteristics of guided waves. The aim of this paper is to solve this problem. The effective performance of the material was calculated using the mixing law. Equations of motion of GPLRMF plate is derived by using Hamilton's principle. Then, the eigenvalue method is used to obtain the expressions of bending wave, shear wave and longitudinal wave, and the degradation verification is carried out. Finally, the effects of graphene platelets (GPLs) volume fraction, elastic foundation, porosity coefficient, GPLs distribution types and porosity distribution types on the dispersion relations are studied. We find that these factors play an important role in the propagation characteristics and phase velocity of guided waves.

  • Recently, it is certain that the increase of heating and cooling energy consumption by radical change in climate condition has caused serious problems related to environmental and energy concerns associated with increase of fossil fuel usage and carbon dioxide production as well as global warming. So, various actions to reduce greenhouse gas exhaustion and energy consumption have been prepared by world developed countries. Our government has also been trying to seek energy control methods for houses and buildings by proclaiming political polices on low-carbon green growth and construction and performance standards for environment-friendly housing. The energy consumption by buildings approximately reaches 25% of total korea energy consumption, and the increasing rate of energy consumption by buildings is stiffer than the rate by the other industries. The greatest part in the buildings of the energy consumption is building facade. While lots of research projects for reducing energy consumption of the facade have been conducted, but a few research projects on concrete comprising more than 70% of outsider of buildings has been tried. This research presents here a study to improve the insulation property of structural concrete formed by micro form admixture (MFA) with experimentally reviewing the physical, mechanical and thermal characteristics of the concrete. As the results of this experiment, in the case of concrete mixed with MFA, slump loss has been improved. As the mixing ratio of MFA increases, the compressive strength is decreased and thermal conductivity is increased. Also it was found that water-cement ratio increases, the compressive strength is decreased and thermal conductivity is increased. but, there was not big influence by the change of fine aggregate ratio.
