In this paper, we propose an artificial neural network framework that can represent the foam effects expressed in liquid simulation in detail without noise. The position and advection of foam particles are calculated using the existing screen projection method, and the noise problem that appears in this process is solved through an proposed artificial neural network. The important thing in the screen projection approach is the projection map, but noise occurs in the projection map in the process of projecting momentum into the discretized screen space, and we efficiently solve this problem by using an artificial neural network-based denoising network. When the foam generating area is selected through the projection map, 2D is inversely transformed into 3D space to generate foam particles. We solve the existing denoising network problem in which small-scaled foam particles disappear. In addition, by integrating the proposed algorithm with the screen-space projection framework, all the advantages of this approach can be accommodated. As a result, it shows through various experiments whether it is possible to stably represent not only the clean foam effects but also the foam particles lost due to the denoising process.
Aluminium foam material is highly porous material, which has the complicated cellular structure defined by randomly distributed pores in metallic matrix. This structure gives the characteristic properties which cannot be achieved by any other conventional processes. As the properties of aluminium foam material significantly depend on its porosity, a desired profile of properties can be tailored by changing the foam density. But various defects lead to undesirable effects on the mechanical properties. Mechanical properties are dependent on cell sizes and aspect ratios. Therefore, this paper presents the effects of various processing parameters of various parameters on the mechanical properties. For the sake of this, combined stirring was used to fabricate aluminum foam materials by the parameters. Compression and bending tests were performed to investigate the effects of cell sizes and aspect ratios on the mechanical properties.
The effects of slag prticle size, $Na_2SO_4$ addition and sulphide in slag to the foam formation was investigated. This investigation showed that the slag particle size and the amount of $Na_2O$ had produced effects on the size of the foam, foam distribution and firing temperatures. In addition to that the amount of sulphide loss during the firing was controlling factor for the foam formation. The smaller slag particles and higher firing temperatures increased the loss of sulphide in the slag. The addition of $Na_2SO_4$ in the slag batch was likely to inhibit the foam formation. The larger slag particles resutled in the larger foam size and tended to be increasing the batch firing temperature. The main constituents of slag formed glass consisted of wallstonite and glassy phase. It is believed that the controlling the slag particle size and the amount of $Na_2SO_4$ in the slag batch will probably be main factors in foam formation.

An experimental study is carried out for an aluminum foam heat sink attached to an isolated heat source to evaluate high potential of aluminum foam as a heat sink with impinging jets. The effects of the pore density and the height of the aluminum foam heat sink, the jet Reynolds number, and the nozzle diameter are delineated in comparison with a conventional pin type heat sink. It is found that the aluminum foam with small pores is inefficient for the heat transfer enhancement due to the large flow friction at the given porosity. In the parameter ranges of the present study, the change in the nozzle diameter shows no significant effects on the surface temperature of the aluminum foam heat sink at a given Reynolds number. The heat transfer enhancement is strongly dependent on the jet Reynolds number and shows a maximum value at a moderate Reynolds number.
To study the effects of foam core density and face-sheet thickness on the mechanical properties and failure modes of aluminum foam sandwich (AFS) beam, especially when the aluminum foam core is made in aluminum alloy and the face sheet thickness is less than 1.5 mm, three-point bending tests were investigated experimentally by using WDW-50E electronic universal tensile testing machine. Load-displacement curves were recorded to understand the mechanical response and photographs were taken to capture the deformation process of the composite structures. Results demonstrated that when foam core was combined with face-sheet thickness of 0.8 mm, its carrying capacity improved with the increase of core density. But when the thickness of face-sheet increased from 0.8 mm to 1.2 mm, result was opposite. For AFS with the same core density, their carrying capacity increased with the face-sheet thickness, but failure modes of thin face-sheet AFS were completely different from the thick face-sheet AFS. There were three failure modes in the present research: yield damage of both core and bottom face-sheet (Failure mode I), yield damage of foam core (Failure mode II), debonding between the adhesive interface (Failure mode III).
This study was carried out on the Sewbility of Urethane Foam usually used as coldproof lining. The Sewability was estimated with the Puckering Grade and Seam Efficiency according to the thicknes of urethane foam, fineness and material of sewing thread, and the sort of covering fabric. The result shows the following ; 1. The thick foam proportinally shows the low Puckering Grade. 2. Effect on the sewability is small in fineness of sewing thread but large in material. Especially silk thread shows the greatest sewability in foam sewing. When the material of covering fabric is same as that of sewing thread (for example ; p/c fabric and p/c thread) the sewability is excellent in special. 3. Taffeta in covering foam is not suitable to foam sewing, satin and twill show superior sewability without reagrd to the thickness of foam. 4. In case of sewing foam covered with tricot, optimum thickness of foam and fineness of sewing thread through pretest must determine. 5. The thicker foam is the better seam efficiency tends, and Seam Efficiency largely effects to the strength of the sewing thread itself. 6. The seam Efficiency can heighten with the strength of sewing thread in proportion to that of covering fabric.
Graphite foams consist of a network of interconnected graphite ligaments and are beginning to be applied to thermal management of electronics. The thermal conductivity of the bulk graphite foam is similar to aluminum, but graphite foam has one-fifth the density of aluminum. This combination of high thermal conductivity and low density results in a specific thermal conductivity about five times higher than that of aluminum, allowing heat to rapidly propagate into the foam. This heat is spread out over the very large surface area within the foam, enabling large amounts of energy to be transferred with relatively low temperature difference. For the purpose of graphite foam thermosyphon design in electronics cooling, various effects such as graphite foam geometry, sub-cooling, working fluid effect, and liquid level were investigated in this study. The best thermal performance was achieved with the large graphite foam, working fluid with the lowest boiling point, a liquid level with the exact height of the graphite foam, and at the lowest sub-cooling temperature.
In a simulated seawater aquaculture system, effects of different operating factors like the superficial air velocity (SAY), hydraulic residence time (HRT), protein concentration and foam overflow height on the removal of total suspended solids (TSS) by a foam fractionator, with 20 cm diameter and 120 cm height, were investigated. This experiment was performed on batch and consecutive modes for different combinations of the tested factors, using synthetic wastewater. In 5 consecutive trials, TSS concentration in culture tank water decreased faster, when the foam fractionator was operated at higher SAV and lower HRT. In batch trials, with increasing SAV, TSS removal rate increased, but decreased with increasing HRT. Higher protein concentration in the bulk solution resulted in higher TSS removal rate. TSS concentration in the collected foam condensates increased but the foam overflow rate decreased with increasing foam overflow height. Foam fractionation was effective for removing TSS in seawater aquaculture systems and its performance largely depended on the operating parameters, especially superficial air velocity.
This paper presents a unified framework to efficiently and realistically simulate surface and wave foams. The framework is designed to first project 3D water particles from an underlying water solver onto 2D screen space in order to reduce the computational complexity of determining where foam particles should be generated. Because foam effects are often created primarily in fast and complicated water flows, we analyze the acceleration and curvature values to identify the areas exhibiting such flow patterns. Foam particles are emitted from the identified areas in 3D space, and each foam particle is advected according to its type, which is classified on the basis of velocity, thereby capturing the essential characteristics of foam wave motions. We improve the realism of the resulting foam by classifying it into two types: surface foam and wave foam. Wave foam is characterized by the sharp wave patterns of torrential flow s, and surface foam is characterized by a cloudy foam shape even in water with reduced motion. Based on these features, we propose a technique to correct the velocity and position of a foam particle. In addition, we propose a kernel technique using the screen space density to efficiently reduce redundant foam particles, resulting in improved overall memory efficiency without loss of visual detail in terms of foam effects. Experiments convincingly demonstrate that the proposed approach is efficient and easy to use while delivering high-quality results.

In this study, efforts were made to understand the propagation of electromagnetic wave through the foam core sandwich structure by the analytical model. Foam core sandwich structure is composed of glass/epoxy composite skins and foam core. Transmittance and reflectance of the arbitrary linearly polarized incident TEM waves through the unidirectional composites, foam and foam core sandwich structures were determined as functions of thickness, fiber orientation of composites, incident angle and polarization angle by the analytical model. From the results of the analysis, the general tendency of transmittance and reflectance of electromagnetic wave through composites, foam and foam core sandwich structures was obtained.
