오이 잎에서 저온 광저해에 의한 형광유도과정의 초기 변이와 스트레스 지표 (Early Alterations of Chlorophyll Fluorescence by Light-Chilling in Cucumber (Cucumis sativus) Leaves and Their Usage as Stress Indicators)

  • To investigate the early symptoms of light-chilling, alterations of chlorophyll fluorescence transients were monitored in cucumber (Cucumis sativus L. cv. Ilmichungjang) leaves. During 24 h chilling, decreases in (Fv)m/Fm, qE and qQ, and an increase in Fo were observed. The chilling effects were not recovered at room temperature, and a significant increase in Fo was observed during the recovery period. After 6 h chilling, ‘dip’(D) level of the transients became obscure, and the negative slope after ‘peak’(P) disappeared. The first derivative (dFv/dt) of the fast fluorescence rise curve was used to obtain more accurate information about the changes in the transients. The maximal rate of the fluorescence increase in the D-p rise curve (Fr) has been the most frequently used chilling stress indicator. However, a correct value of Fr could not be measured when the D level became obscure. This problem was overcome by introducing a new indicator, HFr (dFv/dt at Fv = 1/2 (Fv)m), and HFr gave very similar values to Fr. To monitor the changes in curvature around D level, another new parameter, ${\Delta}S$(D-Fr), was also introduced. These three parameters decreased very sensitively during light-chilling. In addition, increases in these parameters were observed during the first 2 h chilling, but this increase in Fr was also observed in pea leaf discs dark-chilled for 15 min, suggesting that this very early change is a common response to chilling in both pea and cucumber leaves. Quenching coefficients were also very sensitive to chilling, especially qE. Discussion on the usage of these parameters as chilling stress indicators is given in the text.

Expression Profiles of Loneliness-associated Genes for Survival Prediction in Cancer Patients

  • Influence of loneliness on human survival has been established epidemiologically, but genomic research remains undeveloped. We identified 34 loneliness-associated genes which were statistically significant for high-lonely and low-lonely individuals. With the univariate Cox proportional hazards regression model, we obtained corresponding regression coefficients for loneliness-associated genes fo individual cancer patients. Furthermore, risk scores could be generated with the combination of gene expression level multiplied by corresponding regression coefficients of loneliness-associated genes. We verified that high-risk score cancer patients had shorter mean survival time than their low-risk score counterparts. Then we validated the loneliness-associated gene signature in three independent brain cancer cohorts with Kaplan-Meier survival curves (n=77, 85 and 191), significantly separable by log-rank test with hazard ratios (HR) >1 and p-values <0.0001 (HR=2.94, 3.82, and 1.78). Moreover, we validated the loneliness-associated gene signature in bone cancer (HR=5.10, p-value=4.69e-3), lung cancer (HR=2.86, p-value=4.71e-5), ovarian cancer (HR=1.97, p-value=3.11e-5), and leukemia (HR=2.06, p-value=1.79e-4) cohorts. The last lymphoma cohort proved to have an HR=3.50, p-value=1.15e-7. Loneliness-associated genes had good survival prediction for cancer patients, especially bone cancer patients. Our study provided the first indication that expression of loneliness-associated genes are related to survival time of cancer patients.

치열계측의 판별함수에 의한 성별판정에 관한 연구 (A Study on Sexual Differentiation by Means of Discriminant Functions in the Dental Easurement)

  • This study is conducted with a view to make correct sexual differentiation by the utilization of discriminant functions. For that purpose were randomly sampled out 148 young adults testes, comprising 67 males and 81 females, ranging from 15 through 18 years fo age. Based on the values made available from the measurement of 6 items corresponding to the maxillary cast models, a statistical analysis was made to abstract feasible discriminant functions. The results findings are as follows: 1. The mean value by sex indicates, in all items, higher one in male group than in female group. 2. Through the measurement were defined as singnificant items in sexual differentiation the bucco-lingual dimensions of canine, 1st-molar, 2nd molar, and 1st bimolat width. 3. Derived from the value from measurement items were discriminant functions with the intention of applying them to sexual differentiation, as follows: 1) Y=-25.4112+0.7513BL3+0.3298BL4-0.2854BL5+0.7350BL6-0.3482BL7+0.2893AW (as tested by Method I) 2)Y=-25.0628+0.7737BL3+0.7468BL6-0.3885BL5+0.2951AW(as tested by Method II) BL3 : Bucco-lingual dimension of upper canine BL4 : Bucco-lingual dimension of upper first prmolar BL5 : Bucco-lingual dimension of upper second premolar BL5 : Bucco-lingual dimension of upper first molar BL6 : Bucco-lingual dimension of upper second molar AW : Upper first bimolar width 4. Sexual defferentiation in terms of descriminant functions represented a probility of 74.6%.

  • This paper tests whether there are any differences in perceived effectiveness according to the range of outsourcing, and we tried to identify the reasons if any. By executing a field survey and T-test on composite success measure value of two types (integrated outsourcing type and backend outsourcing type), we testified that the perceived effectiveness of the two types in outsourcing was not different. Discussion fo the stududy result followed. First, 'integrated outsourcing type' does not generate very excellent performance. Second, so far the characteristics of 'integrated outsourcing type' such as strategic management of IS, activating end-user computing(EUC), and making the strategic partnership with vendors and so on have not been successfully utilized as expected.

Effect of Outliers on Sample Correlation Coefficient

  • In analyzing bivariate date the sample correlation coefficient is often used, and it is quite sensitive to one or few isolated cases. In this article we derive a formula for the effect of $textsc{k}$ observations on the samples correlation coefficient by the deletion method. To give a reference value for the isolated cases the asymptotic distribution fo the formula is derived. Also, we give some interpretations on several types of isolated cases and an example based on a real data set.

  • 본 연구에서는 위의 내용을 한 단계 더 발전시켜 유한열용량 유동 사이에서 작동하는 브레이튼 사이클의 운전조건에 따른 출력변화와 취대출력 조건을 규명하였으 며, 이것은 단순히 이론적용 대상의 확장이라는 의미와 함께, 앞에서의 카노 사이클의 이상적인 사이클인 반면 브레이튼 사이클이라는 점에서 공학적 의의가 있으며, 특히 원자력 등을 열원으로 하는, 열교환기가 있는 가스 터어빈 사이클의 설계나 운전조건 의 결정 등에는 직접 적용될 수도 있을 것이다.

악조건하의 카메라 교정을 위한 알고리즘 (A Camera Calibration Algorithm for an Ill-Conditioned Case)

  • If the camera plane is nearly parallel to the calibration board on which objects are defined, most of existing calibration approaches such as Tsai's radial-alignment-constraint method cannot be applied. Recently, for such an ill-conditioned case, Zhuang & Wu suggested the linear two-stage calibration algorithm assuming that the exact values of focal length and scale factor are known a priori. In this paper, we developed an iterative two-stage algorithm starts with initial guess fo the two parameters to determine the value of the others using Zhuang & Wu's method. In the second stage, the two parameters are locally optimized. This process is repeated until any improvement cannot be expected any more. The performance comparison between Zhuang & Wu's method and our algorithm shows the superiority of ours. Also included are the computational results for the effects of the distribution and the number of calibration points on the calibration performance.

  • A finite element method for the analysis of magnetic fields with hysteresis characteristics is proposed. The method employs Preisach model to describe hysteresis of magnetic material, so that even multi-branch or minor-loop characteristics can be taken into account. The problem can be considered as the analysis of a nonlinear equation where magnetization depends not only on the present value of the magnetic field but also on the past values, and the problem can be solved by the iteration method. Measurements were carried out on soft ferrite EI core for the comparison with computer solution, and good agreements were obtained. is investigated. A theoretical approach to gait study is proposed in which the static stability margins for periodic gaits are expressed in terms of the kinematic gait formula. The effects fo the stride length on static stability are analyzed and the relations between static stability and initial body configurations are examined. It is shown that the moving velocity can be increased to some extent without affecting stability margins for a given initial body configuration. Computer simulations are performed to verify the analysis.

  • The operation frequency of High-speed Communication System becomes very fast with the advanced technology of VLSI chips and system implementation. There may exist various types of noise sources degrading the signal integrity in this system. The present main system is made of backplane, so faults can be brought whenever a board is removed, replaced or added. This backplane boards testing is a very important process to verify the operation of system. firstly, we model the effects of the internal noises in the High-speed Communication System to the signal line and propose a new design method to minimize these effects. For the design methodology, we derive the characterization value for each mode land them construct the optimal simulation model. We compare the result of own proposing method with that fo the existing methods, through simulation and show that the quality of High-speed Communication System is significantly enhanced. Secondary our proposing BIST for the Backplane Boards Testing is designed to guarantee that there is no fault in the high-speed communication system.

OJIP분석을 이용한 식물의 환경스트레스 지표의 검색

  • The OJIP transients were investigated from leaves of Crinum asiaticum var. japonicum, Osmanthus insularis, Chloranthus glaber and Asplenium antiquum, in order to screen the indicators for quantification of environmental stresses and to apply them to the plant vitality test. The obvious diurnal changes or OJIP transients were found in Crinum asiaticum var. japonicum, Osmanthus insularis growing in sunny habitats, showing lower Fp and higher Fo in day time. The values of SF $I_{no}$ and P $I_{NO}$ increased dramatically in day time in leaves of Crinum asiaticum var. japonicum, Osmanthus insularis, and Asplenium antiquum. Although the value of RC/CS decreased slightly in day time in leaves of 4 tropica $l_tropical plants, the obvious diurnal changes or OJIP transients were not seen in winter, suggesting that tropica $l_tropical paints used in this research seemed to be irreversibly damaged in winter. However, the values of ETo/RC and Ψo/(1-Ψo) increased significantly in leaves of Crinum asiaticum var. japonicum, indicating that ETO/RC and Ψo/(1-Ψo) were useful as indicator parameters for scensing of low temperature.ature.
