  • A method for developing a visual information concept that analogously compares and analyzes macroscopic data changes in a simple form is needed. The development of the visual information concept requires the selection of visualization form, selection of rhetorical effects, and selection of digital expression elements. Among them, an example of a rhetorical effect selection method for effectively delivering visual information to a user is presented. In this study, metaphorical rhetoric, which allows data comparison and analysis from a macroscopic point of view, was selected for stock price analysis by period and industry. We present a two-dimensional three-stage shape change using a dandelion with spreading cockle hair as a metaphor and a three-dimensional three-stage shape change information expression method using a coral peony flower that changes shape and color according to time as a metaphor. Using this rhetorical metaphor, it is possible to compare macroscopic trading changes and stock prices by industry.

  • This study aims to analyze the patterns made with knitted jacquard and intarsia techniques to provide essential data to help plan different knitwear designs using the techniques and patterns. Based on approximately 3,000 jacquard and intarsia knitwear published in the four significant womenswear collections over the past decade, eight main pattern types were classified, and each characteristic was analyzed. Firstly, it is a logo and symbol type pattern that appears mainly as a means of emphasizing a brand. Secondly, it is a traditional pattern with settled patterns from the past to the present. Third, it is a geometric pattern that appears both typically and atypically in various forms. Fourth, an abstract pattern type does not show a precise form or motif. Fifth, it is a colorful and diverse flower and plant pattern. Sixth, it is a landscape pattern that expresses nature and living space. Seventhly, it is an animal pattern type that expresses the appearance of an animal or the shape of the. Finally, it is a caricature pattern type using characters and various cartoonish motifs. • "Doha" is a new strawberry (Fragaria x ananassa Duch.) variety, which was released by the Highland Agriculture Research Institute in 2021. The "Doha" variety originates from a 2014 cross between "Saebong No. 3" and "Yeolha," both of which exhibited excellent ever-bearing characteristics, including continuous flowering and large fruits under long-day and high temperature conditions. This new cultivar was initially named "Saebong No. 13" after examining its characteristics and productivity during summer cultivation between 2015 and 2018. After regional adaptability tests, "Doha" was selected from "Saebong No. 13" as an elite cultivar. The general characteristics of "Doha" include spreading, elliptic leaves, and strong growth. The fruits are long and conical and of a red color. The plant height of "Doha" was similar to that of "Goha," but the number of leaves was lower. The number of flower clusters of "Doha" was 8.6, which was 2.8 fewer than that of the control variety, "Goha," with 11.4. The average fruit weight of "Doha" was 13.9 g, which was 4.9 g heavier than that of "Goha." The fruit hardness of "Doha" was 35.5 g·mm-2, which was 9.4 g·mm-2 harder than that of "Goha." The marketable yield of "Doha" was 26,971 kg·ha-1, 125% more than that of "Goha" with 21,479 kg·ha-1. The findings of this study suggest that "Doha" is a hard fruit and high-yielding variety of ever-bearing strawberries that could increase farming income when distributing to farmers.

  • In recent years, young Chinese consumers have become more favorably inclined toward products relating to traditional culture. Therefore, this study aimed to develop a textile design that incorporates traditional Chinese patterns and cultural symbolism that will appeal to consumers from the MZ generation (millennials and Generation Z). Through a literature search for traditional Chinese patterns and symbols regarded as auspicious, our design concept and motives were established. We selected peony, lotus, and frog motifs as representative of a "wealth and eternal prosperity" design theme. In textile design work 1, we used hand drawing and watercolor techniques, color transformation with Adobe Photoshop, and colorway and end-use 3D simulation with TexPro. The 3D simulation work suggests that this textile pattern is suitable for women's outerwear, mufflers, and tote bags. Textile design work 2 conveyed the 'wealth and eternal prosperity' design theme and had a graceful mood that embodied the nobility of the lotus flower whilst also encompassing the symbolism of money and status. The end design is a modern reinterpretation of traditional Chinese patterns and motifs. As such, it is hoped that it will satisfy the needs of young consumers for cultural values yet offer a unique new aesthetic distinct from existing textile designs. These qualities can be expected to enhance the competitive market value of textiles bearing this design.

  • Recently, due to the development of interactive media, Interactive Typography, which explores user input and interaction is under development. Unlike traditional typography which has a fixed nature, the flexible and fluid nature of Interactive Typography and Interactive System, enables diverse results. In this study, I have developed an Interactive Typography art piece based on theoretical research. By reviewing books, papers and articles, I have tried to define the meaning and characteristics of Interactive Typography. In understanding the concept of Interactive System, I have borrowed the concept of mathematical function. Based on the research, I have designed and developed an Interactive Typography piece, 'Interactive floral type' by using Adobe flash action script. This piece explores the beautiful shape of each alphabet letters and transforms individual character into a 'flower' shape through user's mouse and keyboard input. Depending on the input the size, color, and layout and motion of text changes in real time to change the letters into beautiful flowers.

  • This study delves into the realm of upcycling beauty design by repurposing discarded CDs, magazines, and fabrics. The study outlines a meticulous process for transforming waste into beauty designs. We created three upcycling beauty design works as part of this investigation. The first creation, called Silver Leaf, uses the silver section of CDs to craft leaves and stems. Achromatic colors are used as makeup to achieve cyber-inspired imagery. After carrying out silver-gray eye makeup, the lips were completed by affixing a CD component. The second creation is a firebird crafted by cutting or folding fashion magazines to create essential items. The colorful firebird image was completed using vivid color makeup of shades such as red and yellow. After proceeding with red eye makeup, the lips were completed by cutting and pasting magazine cutouts. The third piece is a spring flower, which involved selectively cutting lace patterns to complete a beauty design extending from head to face. The colors are spring-themed and encompass pink, yellow, and blue. Pink, blue, and green eyeshadows were applied on the lace, attached from head to face, chest, and lips. This study advocates for the prospect of upcycling beauty design using sustainable materials by repurposing waste resources. It also introduces the possibilities of creative activities in this field through upcycling. The study aims to play a role in changing the perception of environmental conservation, a concern of our times, through the use of sustainable resources.

  • Edible insects, such as the two-spotted cricket (Gryllus bimaculatus, GB), have high nutritional value but are not widely consumed because of their appearance and smell. Consequently, the development of foods containing these insects in less recognizable forms, e.g., flour-like powders, has drawn considerable attention. Herein, we investigated the quality characteristics of muffins prepared from wheat flower supplemented with fresh ginseng (5%) and GB (0, 10, 20, and 40%) powders. GB loading was negatively correlated with muffin volume, height, moisture content, and textural properties (hardness, springiness, cohesiveness, and chewiness) and positively correlated with crude protein content and antioxidant properties. Significant (p<0.05) color differences were observed between samples with different GB loadings. The contents of hexanal and nonanal, which are the major volatiles responsible for off-flavor, increased with increasing GB loading, and the number of volatiles maximized at 40% GB. Sensory preference decreased in the order of 0% GB>10% GB≈ 20% GB>40% GB. Based on these results, a GB loading of 20% offered the best trade-off between attractiveness and nutritional value. Thus, this study promotes the widespread use of GB in the food industry and the development of various edible-insect-based food products.
