An Analysis of the US 3rd Offset Strategy (미국의 제3차 국방과학기술 상쇄전략에 대한 분석)

  • This thesis analyzes the backgrounds of the third offset strategy of the US Department of Defense. The key technology areas to be developed and the implications of the 3rd strategy are also examined. The potential great powers, China and Russia have catched up with US in the certain areas of military technologies. The technological superiority of US military is found to have been eroded. The US DOD needs a new defense policy called the 3rd offset strategy to meet this new challenge. The 5 basic technology areas were identified; learning machines, human-machine collaboration, machine-assisted human operations, human-machine combat teaming, and autonomous weapons. The 3rd offset strategy should be managed not to move to the new arms race with rivalries. The defense acquisition system also needs to be improved for the smooth flow of the advanced commercial technologies to the defense sector. Korea needs to figure out the possible technologies of co-research and development with US.

Analysis on Teacher's Discourse in Math Gifted Class in Elementary Schools Using Flanders Interaction Analysis Program (Flanders 언어상호작용분석 프로그램을 이용한 초등수학영재 수업에서의 교사 발언 사례 분석)

  • To investigate the more effective mathematical communication process, a recommended teacher and a selected class as an exemplary model was analyzed with Flanders system. The mathematical communicative level was examined to measure content level using the framework analysing the mathematical communicative level(Park & Pang) based on describing levels of math-talk learning community(Hufferd-Ackles). The purposes of this paper are to describe the verbal flow pattern between teacher and students in the elementary school class for mathematically gifted students, and to propose the effective communication model of math-talk with analysis of verbal teaching behavior in the active class. In addition the whole and the parts of the exemplary class sample is respectively analysed to be used practically by elementary school teachers. The results show the active communication process with higher level presents a pattern 'Ask Question${\rightarrow}$Activity (Silence, Confusion or work)${\rightarrow}$Student-Initiated Talk${\rightarrow}$Activity (Silence, Confusion or work), and the teacher's verbal behavior promoting math communication actively is exhibited by indirect influence especially accepting or using ideas.

  • Water flow in rivers during flood season can be 10 to 100 fold higher than normal seasons (low precipitation) in Japan and predicting flood runoff is essential for operating reservoirs with discharging gates. Abundant experiences and knowledge are requisites for operators to be able to make efficient decisions at work. This research investigated a method to transfer technical knowledge by acquiring skills and knowledge from actual dam operators and by using the information to construct an educational training system. The purpose of the research was to enable the execution of a secure and rational reservoir operation during flood period. The educational training system for reservoir operation was developed with the focuses on acquiring knowledge on hydraulics and hydrology and learning about decision making related to the reservoir operation as well as the timing of control. The system is capable of conducting education that corresponds to individual levels in each location. Of the educational training methods, a lecture method that uses textbooks is effective for the understanding of basic knowledge and concepts while a training method that uses a simulation device is essential for the practice of advanced and specialized procedures in specific fields. Simulation devices are used in operational training for airplane flight and driving cars and trains. The educational system presented here was designed to provide further assistance to those who have acquired basic knowledge and concepts through textbooks and also to at low them to perform the satisfactory operation of dam equipment. Our research proposes a method which can realize a system to acquire technical skills-the skills which are the foundation of technical knowledge and operation.

  • The network based security techniques well-known until now have week points to be passive in attacks and susceptible to roundabout attacks so that the misuse detection based intrusion prevention system which enables positive correspondence to the attacks of inline mode are used widely. But because the Misuse detection based Intrusion prevention system is proportional to the detection rules, it causes excessive false alarm and is linked to wrong correspondence which prevents the regular network flow and is insufficient to detect transformed attacks, This study suggests an Intrusion prevention system which uses Support Vector machines(hereinafter referred to as SVM) as one of rule based Intrusion prevention system and Anomaly System in order to supplement these problems, When this compared with existing intrusion prevention system, show performance result that improve about 20% and could through intrusion prevention system that propose false positive minimize and know that can detect effectively about new variant attack.

  • An intelligent performance diagnostic program using the Neural Network was proposed for PW206C turboshaft engine. It was selected as a power plant for the tilt rotor type Smart UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) which has been developed by KARI (Korea Aerospace Research Institute). The measurement parameters of Smart UAV propulsion system are gas generator rotational speed, power turbine rotational speed, exhaust gas temperature and torque. But two measurement such as compressor exit pressure and compressor turbine exit temperature were added because they were difficult each component diagnostics using the default measurement parameter. The performance parameters for the estimate of component performance degradation degree are flow capacities and efficiencies for compressor, compressor turbine and power turbine. Database for network learning and test was constructed using a gas turbine performance simulation program. From application results for diagnostics of the PW206C turboshaft engine using the learned networks, it was confirmed that the proposed diagnostics could detect well the single fault types such as compressor fouling and compressor turbine erosion.

  • The flow of computer education in modern knowledge and information society contains the computer science courses to cultivate the higher-level thinking abilities such as logical thinking skills, creativity, and problem-solving ability of learners. The purpose of this study is to recognize the need to promote the algorithmic thinking power to improve the problem solving ability of learners, to design the algorithm class based on the anchored instruction strategy for elementary school students and to verify the effectiveness. Anchored instruction model and cases are added to the class. Elementary school students were subjects and divided into a control group in which the traditional algorithm teaching method was conducted and an experimental group in which algorithm class was conducted applying anchored instruction. As results, an experimental group has shown improvements on problem solving compared to a control group.

Comparisons positive psychology experience of high school students using PPE-M (PPE-M을 이용한 고등학생들의 긍정심리체험 비교)

  • This study dealt with the measurements of the positive psychological experience of high school students in relation to mathematics learning by using PPE-M. The purpose of this study is to compare the positive psychology of the high school students based on the grade and gender variables. Measured data for the purpose of this study examined the difference between the gifted students and the general students through a t-test. In addition, differences were analyzed by grade and gender variables. And One-way ANOVA was conducted to see the difference according to the course variables. The difference between the two groups was meaningful in PPE-M total score. There was meaningful difference in all of 5 areas and 19 factors except for 4 factors (Insight, Honesty, Full with pride, and Achievement). However, there was no difference according to grade levels. The comparison between the gender in the ordinary students shows meaningful difference in 11 factors, not in 12 (Judgment, Insight, Honesty, Prudence, Modesty & Kindness, Gratitude & Happiness, Flow, Superiority feeling, Achievement, High pleasure, Full with pride, and Self-efficacy). Affiliation makes meaningful difference in 22 factors except for Honesty.

A Survey on the Machanization for Beef Cattle Farm in West Chung-Nam (충남 서부지역의 육우 축산 기계화 실태조사)

  • In order to advise how to solve the problems and suggest on the mechanization of beef farm, the facilities and equipment for feeding and supplying water to the animals and transporting manure, and farm machineries of sixty-seven beef cattle farms in western Chungnam Province were surveyed. The results are as follows; 1. The proportions of number of heads per farm for above 70, 50∼70, 30∼50, 10∼30 and below 10 heads were 26, 18, 29, 13 and 13, respectively. The farms with the annual income more than 30 million won are consisted of 67.6% of the farms surveyed which showed to be higher than national average. 2. Only 19% of farms had automatic feeding system. Water was supplied by water cup(45%), opening and shutting water tab(27.6%) and bucket. 3. Cattle manure was transported by manpower (46%) by loader (34%) and by gravitational flow (14%). Most of manure(97%) was composted after treatment of drying or piling up outside. 4. More instruction and education were required because of the insufficient routine checking and fixing for farming machines, and unsystematic education for learning skills. 5. 65% of farms felt unsatisfied about after service(A/S) for their machinery. The main reason why the farmers were not satisfied was that it took too much time to be repaired. 6. When the farms purchased facilities, equipment and machinery, they did not analyze economic value of them and keep a diary. To make effective use of machines, the most available model for purchasing and managing of machines must be developed and applied to various scales of management.

A Study on Environmental Micro-Dust Level Detection and Remote Monitoring of Outdoor Facilities

  • The rapid development in modern industrialization pollutant the water and atmospheric air across the globe that have a major impact on the human and livings health. In worldwide, every country government increasing the importance to improve the outdoor air pollution monitoring and control to provide quality of life and prevent the citizens and livings life from hazard disease. We proposed the environmental dust level detection method for outdoor facilities using sensor fusion technology to measure precise micro-dust level and monitor in realtime. In this proposed approach use the camera sensor and commercial dust level sensor data to predict the micro-dust level with data fusion method. The camera sensor based dust level detection uses the optical flow based machine learning method to detect the dust level and then fused with commercial dust level sensor data to predict the precise micro-dust level of the outdoor facilities and send the dust level informations to the outdoor air pollution monitoring system. The proposed method implemented on raspberry pi based open-source hardware with Internet-of-Things (IoT) framework and evaluated the performance of the system in realtime. The experimental results confirm that the proposed micro-dust level detection is precise and reliable in sensing the air dust and pollution, which helps to indicate the change in the air pollution more precisely than the commercial sensor based method in some extent.

Primary Students' Mathematical Thinking Analysis of Between Abstraction of Concrete Materials and Concretization of Abstract Concepts (구체물의 추상화와 추상적 개념의 구체화에 나타나는 초등학생의 수학적 사고 분석)

  • In real educational field, there are cases that concrete problematic situations are introduced after abstract concepts are taught on the contrary to process that abstract from concrete contexts. In other words, there are cases that abstract knowledge has to be concreted. Freudenthal expresses this situation to antidogmatical inversion and indicates negative opinion. However, it is open to doubt that every class situation can proceed to abstract that begins from concrete situations or concrete materials. This study has done a comparative analysis in difference of mathematical thinking between a process that builds abstract context after being abstracted from concrete materials and that concretes abstract concepts to concrete situations and attempts to examine educational implication. For this, this study analyzed the mathematical thinking in the abstract process of concrete materials by manipulating AiC analysis tools. Based on the AiC analysis tools, this study analyzed mathematical thinking in the concrete process of abstract concept by using the way this researcher came up with. This study results that these two processes have opposite learning flow each other and significant mathematical thinking can be induced from concrete process of abstract knowledge as well as abstraction of concrete materials.
