  • The blood flow characteristics have been closely related to various cardiovascular diseases, it is very important to predict them accurate enough in an efficient way. Thus, this paper proposes a one-dimensional spectral element model for the blood flow through blood vessels. The spectral element model is formulated by using the variational method. The nonlinear terms in spectral element model are all treated as the pseudo-force and an iterative solution method is applied in the frequency domain.

  • Knowledge has become an important resource for organization. The manufacturing industry is usually operated on the basis of business processes, and most workers are familiar with their own processes. The process-based approach, therefore, can provide an efficient way to capture and navigate knowledge. In this study, we focus on knowledge which may be missed during knowledge transfer among workers. For this, we propose a method for analyzing knowledge flow, which is passed among business processes. We propose a process-based knowledge management framework for analyzing knowledge flow, which employs a two-phase analysis: process analysis and knowledge flow analysis. A knowledge flow model, represented by Knowledge Flow Diagram, is proposed as a tool for representing knowledge. We formulate several semantics for knowledge flow modeling. We build the three-level schema: conceptual, logical, and physical in order to automate the knowledge model adaptive to knowledge management systems. The proposed approach is verified and illustrated through a case study on the manufacturing process of A Company.

  • Flow analysis and performa nce evaluation have been performed for a ventilation axial-flow fan with different positions of the motor. Two different positions of motor have been tested; one is in front of the impeller and the other is behind the impeller. Flow analyses are performed by solving three-dimensional Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations through a finite-volume solver. Preliminary numerical calculations are carried out to test the performances of different turbulence models, i.e., SST model, k-$\omega$ model, and k-$\varepsilon$ model with and without using empirical wall function in the flow analysis. The validation of numerical analyses has been performed in comparison with the experimental data. The numerical results for the performance characteristics of the ventilation axial-flow fan with two different positions of the motor have been presented.

  • In order to analyze the feasibility of the drain layer construction method, which is one of the beach protection methods, a hybrid model is constructed by combining the wave model and the seepage flow model. The used wave model is the analytic solution given by Shuto (1972). and the seepage flow model is used by Richards equation which governs the saturated-unsaturated flow in the porous media. It is concluded by the sensitivity analysis of the hybrid model that the most sensitive parameter in the flow field within the beach is the saturated hydraulic conductivity. The developed hybrid model will be efficiently used in the analysis of the parameter when the drain layers are constructed in the beach, if the field datas are obtained more.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the applicability of the two dimensional model in natural rivers. In this study, two dimensional unite element model, SMS, is used to simulate a complex flow along with the sediment movements in the natural river. The RMA-2 model embeded in SMS is used to simulate flow phenomena and SED-2D model is employed to simulate sediment transport. The model is applied to the confluence zone of the Gam River and mouth of Nakdong River. For model calibration, the result of the unsteady flow analysis is compared with the Typhoon 'Rusa' data. In addition, the runoff analysis was conducted for the determination of the project flood and the flood forecasting. The simulation results presented the characteristics of two dimensional flow with velocity vector and flow depth. The sediment transport characteristics are shown in terms of sediment concentration as well as bed elevation change. Accordingly, the SMS model in this study turned out to be very effective tool for the simulation of the hydrodynamic characteristics under the various flow conditions and corresponding sediment transports in natural rivers.

  • Detailed flow analysis in river is essential to increase the accuracy of water quality simulation since flow variation depends on many factors such as cross sections, channel slopes, and bed materials. In the QUAL2E stream water quality simulation model, the hydraulic coefficients are assigned to the reach that is collection of computational element using the hydraulic coefficient. This study developed a module that can incorporate the results of non-uniform flow analysis and assign such information to each individual element. Model application focused on the upstream of the Hoengseong reservoir including the reservoir where significant flow change is expected. Comparing with original QUAL2E model the developed module improved the result of water quality simulation without considering the relation of flow velocity and flow depth in terms of flow rates.

  • This study is to analyze the internal flow at the inside of computer case which is commonly used. The inner configuration are modelled and simulation analysis is done by ANSYS-CFX. Dead volume is happened according to the positioning of VGA and HDD. The advanced model is suggested by removing this volume and making the smooth cooling flow. This model is formed with the constraint conditions same as the existing model. As compared with the existing model, flow configuration is different and the average temperature becomes lower through flow analysis about the advanced model.

  • In this study, the flow analyses by type of shock absorber orifice were carried out. A shock absorber is indispensable for the ride comfort that is important at the standard of a good car. As the analysis procedure, the actual speed of the shock absorber was set as the flow rate when the cylinder was advanced. And the flow analysis results on models A, B and C of shock absorber models were compared with each other. As the examination on the flow orifice in the vicinity of each model through the analysis of flow, the performance of shock absorber were recognized. On the whole, model A had the fastest flow rate and also had the largest flow rate. Model B had the slowest flow rate and the flow rate features of models B and C with the same number of orifices were similar. Through this study, it is possible to see which shock absorber orifice model facilitates the flow inside the cylinder and increases the ride comfort. It is seen that this analysis result on the flow analyses by type of shock absorber orifice can be applied by converging with the field of design.

  • The low flow is the necessary and important index to establish national water planning, however there are lots of uncertainty in the low flow estimation. Therefore, the objectives of this study are to assess the climate change uncertainty and the effects of hydrological models on low flow estimation. The 5 RCMs (HadGEM3-RA, RegCM4, MM5, WRF, and RSM), 5 statistical post-processing methods and 2 hydrological models were applied for evaluation. The study area were selected as Chungju dam and Soyang river dam basin, and the 30 days minimum flow is used for the low flow evaluation. The results of the uncertainty analysis showed that the hydrological model was the largest source of uncertainty about 41.5% in the low flow projection. The uncertainty of hydrological model is higher than the other steps (RCM, statistical post-processing). Also, VIC model is more sensitive for climate change compared to SWAT model. Therefore, the hydrological model should be thoroughly reviewed for the climate change impact assessment on low flow.

  • The logarithmic form for turbulent flow analysis guarantees the positivity of the turbulence variables as ${\kappa}$ and ${\varepsilon}$ of the ${\kappa}-{\varepsilon}$ model by using the natural logarithm of these variables. In the present study, the logarithmic form is incorporated into the finite element solution procedure for the unsteady turbulent flow analysis. A backward facing step flow using the standard ${\kappa}-{\varepsilon}$ model and a flow around a 2D square cylinder using the modified ${\kappa}-{\varepsilon}$ model (the Kato-Launder model) are simulated. These results show that the logarithmic form effectively keeps adequate balance of turbulence variables and makes the analysis stable during transient or unsteady processes.
