Recent Developments of Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cell Design

  • PEMFC has high potential for future development due to its high energy density, eco-friendliness, and high energy efficiency. When it becomes small, light and flexible, it can be competitive as an energy source for portable devices or flexible electronic devices. However, the use of hard and heavy materials for structural rigidity and uniform contact pressure transmission has become an obstacle to reducing the weight and flexibility of PEMFCs. This review intends to provide an example of the application of a new structure and material for lightweight and flexibility. As a lightweight PEMFC, a tubular design is presented and structural advantages through numerical modeling are explained. Manufacturing methods to realize the structural advantages and possibilities of tubular PEMFCs are discussed. In addition, the materials and manufacturing processes used to fabricate lightweight and flexible PEMFCs are described and factors affecting performance are analyzed. Strategies and structural improvements of light and flexible movements are discussed according to the component parts.

  • This paper describes a cell programming environment that deals with problems associated with programming Flexible Manufacturing Cells(FMCs). The environment consists of the cell programming editor and the automatic generation module. In the cell programming editor, cell programmers can develop cell programs using task level description set which supports task-oriented specifications for manipulation cell activities. This approach to cell programming reduces the amount of details that cell programmers need to consider and allows them to concentrate on the most important aspects of the task at hand. The automatic generation module is used to transform task specifications into executable programs used by cell constituents. This module is based on efficient algorithm and expert systems which can be used for optimal path planning of robot operations and optimal machining parameters of machine tool operations. The development tool in designing the environment is an object-oriented approach which provides a simple to use and intuitive user interface, and allows for an easy development of object models associated with the environment.

유연가공셀에서 운반시간을 고려한 일정계획 (Scheduling for a Flexible Manufacturing Cell with Transportation Time)

  • This research is concerned with production scheduling for a flexible manufacturing cell which consists of two machine centers with unlimited buffer space and a single automatic guided vehicle. The objective is to develop and evaluate heuristic scheduling procedures that minimize maximum completion time. A numerical example illustrates the proposed algorithm. The heuristic algorithm is implemented for various cases by SLAM II. The results show that the proposed algorithm provides better solutions than Johnson's. It also gets good solutions to minimize mean flowtime.

Production Scheduling for a Flexible Manufacturing Cell

  • This study considers flowshop scheduling problem related to flexible maufacturing cell in which consists of two machining centers, robots for loading/unloading, and an automated guided vehicle(AGV) for material handling between two machining centers. Because no machinng center has buffer storage for work in process, a machining center can not release a finished job until the empty AGV is available at that machining center. While the AGV cannot tranfer an unfinished job to a machining center until the machining center empty. In this paper, an new heuristic algorithm is given to find the sequence that minimize their makespan.

  • Currently, new and renewable energy come into the spotlight, such as solar energy, wind power, fuel cell, hybrid car etc., due to the energy resource is being depleted. Especially, in order to solve like this problem, the study of solar cell manufacturing systems are being extensively researched such as vacuum process. But the major fault of the vacuum process are its expensive production price. On the order hand, Roll-to-roll printing system, the new technology of solar cell manufacturing, has low production price compare with the vacuum process. Also roll-to-roll printing system can decrease the 95% of waste water and 99.9% of harmful gasses than the vacuum process. So we addressed the roll to roll printing system for the flexible solar cell by using printing technology. This roll-to-roll printing system is comprised of various modules, such as web handling module, fine pattern printing module, dry/curing module, uniform coating module and laminating module etc.

FMC 반송용 로봇의 선견형 운영방법 (Proactive Operational Method for the Transfer Robot of FMC)

  • 본 논문에서는 로봇 한 대를 중심으로 여러 설비들이 제어되는 Flexible Manufacturing Cell(FMC)에서 로봇의 대기위치 선정과 작업물 선택 의사결정을 위하여 Q-learning 알고리즘을 응용한 방법을 제시하였다. 이를 위해 하나의 로봇과 다수의 설비로 구성된 전형적인 가상의 FMC를 시뮬레이션으로 설계, 제안한 알고리즘을 적용하여 다른 대안과의 비교 분석을 실시하였다. 비교결과 적용된 알고리즘이 로봇가동률을 높여 평균 처리시간, 총 처리량 모두 향상시키는 결과를 가져왔다. 또한, 이 방법은 본 논문에서 제시한 정보뿐 아니라 그 우선순위와 가중치에 따라 다른 정보들을 손쉽게 추가하여 적용할 수 있으므로 FMC의 생산성 향상에도 크게 기여할 것으로 기대된다.

  • The Purpose of this paper is to automate the representation of manufacturing line using Petri net model. In the manufacturing cell, the line can be represented using workflow which is composed of Bill of Material (BOM) and Bill of Processes (BOP). BOP shows the precedence of processes and the relationship between assembly and disassembly. As a modeling scheme, generalized stochastic Petri net is adopted. For a problem domain with flexible manufacturing cell, Petri net model is made and behavioral properties are analyzed.

  • This paper discusses an optimal cyclic scheduling problem for a FMC (Flexible Manufacturing Cell) modeled by a two-machine flowshop with two machining centers with APC's (Automated Pallet Changers), an AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle) and loading and unloading stations. Cyclic production in which similar patterns of production is repeated can significantly reduce the production lead-time and WIP (Work-In-Process) in such flexible, automated system. Thus we want to find an optimal cyclic schedule that minimizes the cycle time in each cycle. However, the existence of APC's as buffer storage for WIP makes the problem intractable (i.e., NP-complete). We propose an practical approximation algorithm that minimizes, instead of each cycle time, its upper bound. Performances of this algorithm are validated by the way of computer simulations.

  • 유연 생산시스템의 스케줄링 문제는 생산시스템의 효율성 제고에 많은 관심을 끌고 있다. 이 연구에서는 유연 생산시스템의 이산적 스케줄링 문제를 변형의 개념을 가지고 해결하고자 한다. 이산적 개념을 표현하는 데는 패트리 네트가 효율적인 방법중의 하나이다. 패트리 네트의 변형이란 기존의 모델이 가지고 있는 기본적인 성질들을 변형시키지 아니하고 해석하고 분석하기가 편리한 사이즈로 기존의 모델링 변형시키는 것이다. 특히 본 연구에서는 타임 패트리 네트의 변형을 이용하여 대기시간과 완료시간을 혼합하여 스케줄링 문제를 분석하는 기법을 제시하였다.
