  • This study examines the development of content scenarios to facilitate the training of on-site commanders in firefighting activities. To establish the training content scenario system, the three core competencies of the on-site commanders were set as situation judgment, communication, and decision-making. A system of scenarios was established to actively reflect these three core competencies when designing the scenarios. All the contents of these scenarios are based on Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). The scenarios comprise 14 stages that are divided into four steps with the exception of stages 1 and 14, which mark the beginning and end of the training. It consists of the situation setting stage and the first, second, and third decision-making stages. Specifically, situation judgment and communication are important factors in each stage.

  • 119 Integrated Emergency Management System, 119 IEMS hereinafter, is specialized command and control system for fire H.Q., that supports effective response activity at Fire, Rescue, and First Aids; it covers the emergency call taking, dispatch command delivery and situation control after dispatch command. While the efficiency of emergency response activity of call-taker and dispatcher is directly linked to the capability of qualified response in protecting the life and properties at real-time emergency condition, there is not any similar simulator system that can be used for training purposes for newly allocated personnel or beginner of emergency call taking and dispatch activity - 119 IEMS in fire H.Q. is the operation system that cannot be shared with other purposes, and they're highly expensive ICT system and infrastructure to be used as training and education. 119 Integrated Emergency Management Simulator System, 119 IEMS Simulator, was developed to be utilized in low cost for the training of 119 emergency call taker and dispatcher, and it can be used in training of various types of disaster and emergency handling, spans to emergency call taking, dispatch command, and field report and situation control after dispatch command.

  • Background: Meta-analyses have shown firefighters to be at an increased risk of several cancer types. Occupational carcinogen exposure may explain these increased risks. This study aims to describe Norwegian fire departments' work conditions from 1950 until today, focusing on factors relevant for potential occupational carcinogen exposure. Methods: With the help of a reference group, we developed a questionnaire on topics related to occupational exposure to carcinogens for the period 1950-2018. Selected Norwegian fire departments provided department-specific responses. Results: Sixteen departments, providing fire services for 48% of the Norwegian population as of 2019 and mainly consisting of professional firefighters, responded to our questionnaire. The introduction of synthetic firefighting foams, more regular live fire training, the introduction of chemical diving, and a higher number of diesel-driven fire service vehicles were identified as changes thought to increase exposure to occupational carcinogens. Changes thought to decrease exposure included the switch from negative to positive pressure self-contained breathing apparatuses, the use of self-contained breathing apparatuses during all phases of firefighting, the use of ventilating fans during firefighting, increased attention to flammable materials used during live fire training, increased attention to handling and cleaning of turnout gear and other equipment, and installment of exhaust removal systems in apparatus bays. Conclusion: Norwegian fire departments' work conditions have seen several changes since 1950, and this could influence firefighters' occupational carcinogen exposure. A peak of carcinogen exposure may have occurred in the 1970s and 1980s before recent changes have reduced exposure.

  • This study analyzed ignition probability about Lithium-polymer batteries of what variously were being produced wearable devices recently. The study analyzed ignition probability by PCM(Protection Circuit Module) operating state and overcharged, over-discharged, exposed to high temperatures of Lithium polymer batteries, analyzing wearable devices on the market. Then it classified experimental results to implement analysis comparison about weight, X-ray imaging, battery decomposition. With these experiments, the study analyzed combustion-possibility and fire patterns. These statistics will be used to measure and verify the cause of a fire when identify wearable devices using Lithium-polymer batteries.

  • Since fires in uncontrolled environments pose serious risks to society and individuals, many researchers have been investigating technologies for early detection of fires that occur in everyday life. Recently, with the development of deep learning vision technology, research on fire detection models using neural network backbones such as Transformer and Convolution Natural Network has been actively conducted. Vision-based fire detection systems can solve many problems with physical sensor-based fire detection systems. This paper proposes a fire detection method using the latest YOLOv8, which improves the existing fire detection method. The proposed method develops a system that detects sparks and smoke from input images by training the Yolov8 model using a universal fire detection dataset. We also demonstrate the superiority of the proposed method through experiments by comparing it with existing methods.

  • This study examines the training effectiveness of airsoft guns that look and operate like real guns. Airsoft guns were developed in Japan in the late 1970s and are now popular for leisure sports and training, especially in countries where gun ownership is permitted. In particular, Taiwan has been promoting airsoft gun games to train citizen soldiers, and military leaders such as the United States have also utilized airsoft guns for live fire combat training and combat troops' live fire training. However, due to strict usage regulations and the perception that it is a toy, it is underutilized in Korea despite being a good training tool. Therefore, this study will prove the effectiveness of airsoft guns and improve the military's combat capabilities through practical training using airsoft guns. In addition, it will improve the negative perception of airsoft guns and foster a new sports industry.
