Currently, the problem of pollution of the marine environment by microplastics is emerging seriously internationally. In this study, to develop a lightweight portable microplastic collection device, the types and number of microplastics in 21 coastal areas nationwide in Korea were investigated. And CFRP (Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic), GFRP (Glass Fiber Reinforced Plastic), ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene copolymer) and aluminum were applied for design and analysis of microplastic collection device to have the durability, corrosion resistance and lightweight. As a result of sample collection and classification from the shore, it was confirmed that microplastics were distributed the most in Hamdeok beach, and the polystyrene was found to be mainly distributed microplastics. Particle information through coastal field survey and CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) analysis were used to analyze the flow rate and distribution of particles such as sand and impurities, which were applied to the structural analysis of the cyclone device using the finite element method. As a result of structural analysis considering the particle impact inside the cyclone device, the structural safety was examined as remarkable in the order of CFRP, GFRP, aluminum, and ABS. In the view of weight reduction, CFRP could be reduced in weight by 53%, GFRP by 47%, and ABS by 61% compared to aluminum for the cyclone device.
Materials used for education are materials such as SM20C, Al6061, and acrylic. SM20C materials are carbon steel and are often used in certification tests and functional competitions, but are also widely used in industrial sites. The Al6061 material is said to be a material that has lower hardness and stronger flexibility than carbon steel, so it is a material that generates a lot of compositional selection of tools. If students are taught practical training using acrylic materials, vibration occurs due to excessive cutting in some parts and damage to the tool occurs. In this process, we examine to what extent the impact on the 2NC head, which is a five-axis equipment, can affect precision control. The weakest part of the five-axis equipment can be said to be the weakest part of the head that controls the AC axis. When the accuracy and cumulative tolerance of this part occur, the accuracy of all products decreases. Therefore, the core part of the 2NC head, the spindle housing, was carried out using an Al7075 T6 (Alcoa, USA) material. In the process of vibration and cutting applied to this material, the analysis was conducted to find out the value applied to the finite element analysis under extreme conditions. It is hoped that this analysis data will help students see and understand the structure of 5-axis machining rather than 5-axis cutting.

In this study, we develop MPI-OpenMP hybrid parallelization for multibody peridynamic simulations. Peridynamics is suitable for analyzing complicated dynamic fractures and various discontinuities. However, compared with a conventional finite element method, nonlocal interactions in peridynamics cost more time and memory. In multibody peridynamic analysis, the costs increase due to the additional interactions that occur when computing the nonlocal contact and ghost interlayer models between adjacent bodies. The costs become excessive when further refinement and smaller time steps are required in cases of high-velocity impact fracturing or similar instances. Thus, high computational efficiency and performance can be achieved by parallelization and optimization of multibody peridynamic simulations. The analytical code is developed using an Intel Fortran MPI compiler and OpenMP in NURION of the KISTI HPC center and parallelized through MPI-OpenMP hybrid parallelization. Further parallelization is conducted by hybridizing with OpenMP threads in each MPI process. We also try to minimize communication operations by model-based decomposition of MPI processes. The numerical results for the impact fracturing of multiple bodies show that the computing performance improves significantly with MPI-OpenMP hybrid parallelization.

A spent fuel storage cask is required to prove the safety of a canister under a hypothetical accidental drop condition. A hypothetical accidental drop condition means that a canister is assumed to be a lee drop on to a pad of the storage cask during loading it into a storage cask. A pad of the storage cask absorbs shock to maintain the structural integrities of a canister under a hypothetical accidental drop condition. In this paper a finite element analysis for various pad structures was carried out to improve the structural integrity of a canister under a hypothetical accidental drop condition. A pad of a storage cask was designed a steel structure with concrete. The 1/4 height of a pad was modified with a structure composed of a steel and a polyurethane foam as a impact limiter. The effect of a shape of a steel structure was studied. The effects of the thickness of a steel structure and the density of a polyurethane foam was also studied.
This study simulated the shock wave propagation through the tamping material between explosives and hole wall at blasting works and verified the effect of tamping materials. The Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian(ALE) method was selected to model the mixture of solid (Lagrangian) and fluid (Eulerian). The time series analysis was carried out during blasting process time. Explosives and tamping materials (air or water) were modeled with finite element mesh and the hole wall was assumed as a rigid body that can determine the propagation velocity and shock force hitting the hole wall from starting point (explosives). The numerical simulation results show that the propagation velocity and shock force in case of water were larger than those in case of air. In addition, the real site at blasting work was modeled and simulated. The rock was treated as elasto-plastic material. The results demonstrate that the instantaneous shock force was larger and the demolished block size was smaller in water than in air. On the contrary, the impact in the back side of explosives hole was smaller in water, because considerable amount of shock energy was used to demolish the rock, but the propagation of compression through solid becomes smaller due to the damping effect by rock demolition. Therefore, It can be proven that the water as the tamping media was more profitable than air.

This paper is on the vibration control of access floor on the frames of reinforced structure. In this study, the horizontal anti-vibration system using precise spring damper was developed and modeling and vibration analysis of the RC structure was performed for the control of horizontal vibration coused by machinery and worker's moving. Experiment was done in three cases, no damper at the RC structures, dampers connecting pedestal to pedestal and pedestal to the structure, for the investigation of the effect of the system on disigned RC structure. For each experiment, the occeleration responses on slab and access floor after giving impact wave and external vibration were measured. It was shown that the magnitude of resonance response of the system with dampers are smaller than without damper and the resonance peak also partly moved to low-frequency range. Furthermore. It was shown that the acceleration components of the system with domoers decreased greatly in high-frequency range and the system was very much effective especially for external vibration. In order to verify the anti-vibration effect of the developed system, the vibration analysis was also done for the system by using the finite element modelling. The analysis results was in good agreement with experimental results. Thus, It is concluded that this study is useful for the design of precise anti-vibration system and micro-vibration control of concrete structures.

Recently, market demands of miniaturization, high interconnection density, and fine pitch of PCBs continuously keep increasing. Therefore, SLP (substrate like PCB) technology using a modified semi additive process (MSAP) has attracted great attention. In particular, SLP technology is essential for the development of high-capacity batteries and 5G technology for smartphones. In this study, the reliability of the microvia of hybrid SLP, which is made of conventional HDI (high density interconnect) and MSAP technologies, was investigated by experimental and numerical analysis. Through thermal cycling reliability test using IST (interconnect stress test) and finite element numerical analysis, the effects of various parameters such as prepreg properties, thickness, number of layers, microvia size, and misalignment on microvia reliability were investigated for optimal design of SLP. As thermal expansion coefficient (CTE) of prepreg decreased, the reliability of microvia increased. The thinner the prepreg thickness, the higher the reliability. Increasing the size of the microvia hole and the pad will alleviate stress and improve reliability. On the other hand, as the number of prepreg layers increased, the reliability of microvia decreased. Also, the larger the misalignment, the lower the reliability. In particular, among these parameters, CTE of prepreg material has the greatest impact on the microvia reliability. The results of numerical stress analysis were in good agreement with the experimental results. As the stress of the microvia decreased, the reliability of the microvia increased. These experimental and numerical results will provide a useful guideline for design and fabrication of SLP substrate.

The ship sailing among waves are suffered the various wave loads that comes from its motion throughout its life. Because there are dynamic, the analysis of ship structure must be considered as the dynamic problem precisely. In the rationally-based design, the dynamic structural analysis is carried out using dynamic wave loads provided from the results of the ship mouton calculation as the rigid body. This method is based on the linear theory assumed low wave height and small amplitude of motion. But at the rough sea condition, high wave height, relatively ship's depth, is induced the large ship motion, so the ship section configulation below water line is rapidly changed at each time. This results in non-linear problem. Considering above situation in this paper, the strength analysis method is introduced for the hull glider among waves considering non-linear hydrodynamic forces. This paper considers that the overall or primary level of the ship structural dynamic loading and dynamic response provided from the non-linear wave forces, and bottom and bow flare impact forces estimated by momentum slamming theory, in which the ship is idealized as a hollow thin-walled box beam using thin-walled beam theory and the finite element method. This method is applied to 40,000 Ton Double-Skin Tanker and attention is paid to the influence of the response of ship speed, wave length and wave height compared with linear strip theory.

The turnout system of the sleeper floating tracks (STEDEF) on urban transit is a Anti-vibration track composed of a wooden sleeper embedded in a concrete bed and a sleeper resilience pad under the sleeper. Therefore, deterioration and changes in spring stiffness of the sleeper resilience pad could be cause changes in sleeper support conditions. The damage amount of manganese crossings that occurred during the current service period of about 21 years was investigated to be about 17% of the total amount of crossings, and it was analyzed that the damage amount increased after 15 years of use (accumulated passing tonnage of about 550 million tons). In this study, parameter analysis (wheel position, sleeper support condition, and dynamic wheel load) was performed using a three-dimensional numerical model that simulated real manganese crossing and wheel profile, to analyze the damage type and cause of manganese crossing that occurred in the actual field. As a result of this study, when the voided sleeper occurred in the sleeper around the nose, the stress generated in the crossing nose exceeded the yield strength according to the dynamic wheel load considering the design track impact factor. In addition, the analysis results were evaluated to be in good agreement with the location of damage that occurred in the actual field. Therefore, in order to minimize the damage of the manganese crossing, it is necessary to keep the sleeper support condition around the nose part constant. In addition, by considering the uniformity of the boundary conditions under the sleepers, it was analyzed that it would be advantageous to to replace the sleeper resilience pad together when replacing the damaged manganese crossing.

The urban railway sleeper floating track, the subject of this study, is an anti-vibration track to reduce vibration transmitted to the structure. currently, the replacement cycle of resilience pad for sleeper floating tracks is set and operated based on load. however, most previous studies were conducted on load-based structural safety aspects, such as fatigue life evaluation of sleeper anti-vibration pads and increase in track impact coefficient and track support stiffness due to increase in spring stiffness. therefore, in this study, we measure the vibration acceleration of the ballast for each analysis section and use the results of 7 million fatigue tests to calculate the spring stiffness of the resilience pad for each section. the spring stiffness of the resilience pad calculated for each section was set as the analysis data and the concrete vibration acceleration was derived analytically. the adequacy of analysis modeling was verified as the analyzed concrete bed vibration acceleration for each section was within the field-measured concrete bed vibration acceleration range. using the vibration acceleration curve according to the derived spring stiffness change, the spring stiffness of the resilience pad is estimated from the measured vibration acceleration. therefore, we would like to present a technique that can estimate the spring stiffness of resilience pad of a running track using the vibration acceleration of the measured concrete bed.
