  • To date, research on heavy floor impact noise has mainly been conducted. The reason is that in the case of lightweight floor impact noise, sufficient performance could be secured with only the floating floor structure and floor finishing materials. In the case of heavy floor impact noise in a floating floor structure, the reduction performance can be predicted to some extent by measuring the dynamic elasticity of the floor cushioning material. However, with the recent introduction of the post-measurement system, various floor structures are being developed. In particular, many non-floating floor structures that do not use cushioning materials are being developed. In floor structures where cushioning materials are not used, the finishing material will have a significant impact on lightweight floor impact noise. However, research on floor finishing materials is currently lacking. In this study, as a basic research on the development of various floor finishing materials for effective reduction of lightweight floor impact noise, various materials used as floor finishing materials for apartment complexes were selected, the sound insulation performance of lightweight floor impact noise was measured in an actual laboratory, and vibration characteristics were identified through simple experiments. The purpose was to confirm the predictability of light floor impact noise.

  • Since Korea has already become the 'aging society' and is expected to become the 'aged society' by 2019, development of the facilities and dedicated housing for the senior citizens have become the key issues. The growing population of the senior citizens, changed in the social structure, family type, and the way of living brings a moment to consider the various aspects to support the senior citizens. Now the situation in Korea requires development of congregate housing as a type of residential units for elder who can live at home with some help. Therefore, the purpose of this research was to analyze preference tendency on the interior finishing materials and colors of the congregate housing for the senior citizens who are healthy enough not needing the nursing home. For this research, the preference of 500 Korean pre-senior citizens on the interior finishing materials and colors of congregate housing for the seniors was investigated. The collected data was processed using SPSS 10.0 for Windows regarding frequency, percentage, average, Chi-squared test with cross tabulation. The results are as follows: First, about $60\%$ of the respondents preferred Korean traditional interior image for individual units, and modern interior image for common areas. Second, the respondents preferred wood flooring and wallpaper interior finishing. Third, the respondents Preferred Y, YR color for individual units, and N color for common areas and very pale tone for all spaces. Fourth, the respondents preferred luxury finishing to living room in the all spaces.

  • PURPOSE. Polymer infiltrated ceramic network (PICN) materials, also called hybrid ceramics, are new materials in dental market. The manufacturer of the PICN material VITA Enamic suggests 3 different finishing procedures for this new material. In the present study, surface roughness and color differences caused from different finishing procedures of VITA Enamic were investigated. MATERIALS AND METHODS. 120 specimens were prepared in dimensions $2{\times}10{\times}12mm$ from VITA Enamic hybrid ceramic blocks with 'high translucency' and 'translucency 2M2' shades. The specimens were divided into 8 groups. For each group, different finishing procedures suggested by the manufacturer were performed. Surface roughness values were determined by a tactile portable profilometer. Color changes were evaluated using a clinical spectrophotometer. The data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA and Tukey's post-hoc comparison. The significance level was set at ${\alpha}=0.05$. RESULTS. The roughest surfaces were observed in Glaze Groups. Their surface roughness values were similar to that of the control group. Clinical Kit and Technical Kit groups did not show a statistically significant difference regarding surface roughness (P>.05). The largest color difference regarding ${\Delta}E_{00}$ was observed in Clinical Kit finishing groups. There were also statistically significant color changes between the groups (P<.05). However, all the groups showed clinically acceptable color change (${\Delta}E_{00}$<2.25) except Clinical Kit Groups (${\Delta}E_{00}$>2.25). CONCLUSION. Within the limitations of the present study, it may be suggested that finishing the VITA Enamic restorations by Technical Kit instead of Glaze and Clinical Kit gives better clinical performance in regard to surface roughness and shade matching.

  • Multi Housing design has not considered the remodeling even at the beginning of the construction. This severely hindered systematic maintenance, providing fundamental causes of consuming society. In general, in about 20 years when the buildings become too old, they are brought down or removed with a trail of waste left behind. In addition, since the current remodeling or future remodeling type is a general remodeling that leaves only a frame, some question the role of the remodeling as a solution to the reconstruction from economically and environmentally efficient aspects. This study intends to find a solution for long-life span multi-family housing design, promoting sequential remodeling by stating the life cycle of components. Problems were identified by analyzing joints, design and construction of multi-family housing based on the previous researches. Conclusion from characterization of the design plan according to joint parts can be summarized as the following firstly, the problem of the wet was seen in joints between the structure and a finishing materials and ones between separate finishing materials. Secondly, the problem of overlap was frequently seen in joints between the structure and a door/window, ones between a door/window and a finishing materials, and ones between a finishing materials and an electrical/mechanical device.

  • Recently, the number of cases of fire spreading due to exterior materials of buildings is increasing. Due to the nature of modern architecture, which emphasizes the aesthetics of buildings, because buildings pursue a splendid appearance, they are inexpensive and have relatively good insulation performance, but an increasing number of buildings are adopting insulation materials that have poor fire safety performance. The risk of spread is also greatly increased. Since the exterior wall of a building is made of a variety of materials and structures, it is composed of a combination of several elements, including materials such as insulation and finishing materials. Therefore, it was determined that it was necessary to introduce a more systematic evaluation method for building exterior materials, and to improve the system reflecting this, away from the existing evaluation method that only checked the fire safety performance of finishing materials.
