A study on Profile Measurement for Railway Wheels using High Speed Camera and Vision Technology (고속 하이비젼 카메라 기술을 이용한 철도차량 차륜형상 측정에 관한 연구)

  • Maintenance and repair devices used for the inspection of the main parts of domestic railway vehicles have been imported from abroad. Especially, one of the representative domestic devices, the 'Wheel Profile Inspector System (WPIS)', was made by benchmarking foreign devices; this vehicle has been operated in the field. However, problems such as the reliability and performance of the WPIS in operation have appeared. In this study, in order to improve the precision and reliability of the WPIS for maintenance and inspection of railway vehicle wheels, the researchers improved the railway vehicle's WPIS by applying high-speed vision camera technology and an optimized image algorithm. The test results show that the reliability of the developed WPIS improved by approximately 10.4% compared to that of the conventional system.

Fatigue Durability of Cramp Joint at Precast Highway Deck Slabs (프리캐스트 바닥판용 클램프 조인트의 피로내구성)

  • The fatigue durability test using the actual size beam was performed with a cramp joint in order to apply to the highway bridge deck slab. Three types of beam were investigated for durability performance by considering stress conditions in real bridge deck slabs, 1) A beam with major shear force applied at the joint (RC Type) 2) A beam with major bending moments applied at the joint (PSC Type) 3) A beam with the pure shear applied at the joint. The experiment for beams with cramp joints showed that the cramp joint had enough durability for fatigue regardless of the overlaid length of the looped distribution bars under the current design strength level. Moreover, it was clarified that the enough durability for fatigue under the load repetition was achieved by increasing the joint span grater than 1.5D with the consideration of the deformation due to reduction in joint stiffness.

  • Hollow Core Slab is a very efficient system that can reduce weight and its use has increased. Void slab is a concrete slab that has voids substituted with void material. Because of its saved volume of concrete, void slab can reduce weight of slabs. Also, it can't only save concrete but also can reduce carbon-emission. However, because of the unclear bearing strength at the part of void substituted with voiding material, several problems occur in constructing field. In this study, void slab including void material was built and local bearing strength test was carried out for 3 types of load(truck load, support load and Jack support load). As a result, bearing strength of void neck and upper void material is more than allowable load. And also, bearing strength of specimens with using deck and not using deck are also over allowable loads.

  • In a long-span bridge, the cables are important elements that support the load of the bridge. Accordingly, the cable tension is a very important variable in evaluating the health and safety of the bridge. The most popular methods of estimating the cable tensions are the direct method, which directly measures the cable stresses using load cells, hydraulic jacking devices, etc., and the vibration method, which inverses the tensions using the cable shapes and the measured dynamic characteristics. Studies on the use of the electromagnetic (EM) sensor, which detects the magnetic field variations caused by the change in the stress of the steel in the cable, are increasing. In this study, the lift-off test, the EM sensor, and the vibration method (Vision-based System and Accelerometer) were used to measure cable tension, and their results were compared and analyzed.

  • The three truss models(equilibrium truss model, Mohr compatibility truss model, and the soften truss model) based on a rotating angle is called the rotating-angle model. The three rotating-angle models have a common weakness: they are incapable of predicting the so-called "contribution of concrete". To take into account this "contribution of concrete", the modern truss model(MCFT, STM) treats a cracked reinforced concrete element as a continuous material. By combining the equilibrium, compatibility, and the softened stress-strain relationship of concrete in biaxial state, MTM is capable of producing the nonlinear analysis of reinforced concrete structures composed of membrane element. In this paper, an efficient algorithm is proposed for the solution of proposed model incorporated with failure criteria. This algorithm is used to analyze the behavior of reinforced membrane element using the results of Hsu test.

  • In this study, smart precast-in-place concrete, such as continuity with Precast any technology that can be the Application of Building Structures and railway stations, civil structures. After the same way in the field installation design based on the criteria railways and derived the right section, through the Static and Dynamic Response Analysis. Dynamic sensor and the triaxial acceleration measured by attaching the sensor acceleration response according to the extent of the damage of Precast Panel Structures and mode of Precast Structures, by comparing the data. Data for the stability and improvement of the uncertainty in along a railroad and Future of Precast Panel Structures of time to replace. This is to use this data as basic data on damage prediction.

  • Nitrogen oxide(NOx) is a major cause of air pollution, exists in the form of nitrogen monoxide and nitrogen dioxide, and is harmful to the human body. Recently, a number of studies to reduce NOx in the atmosphere have been conducted, and these efforts have been the same in the field of construction materials. It is known that NOx can be efficiently removed by using a photocatalytic reaction. In this study, the NOx removal performance of the foam composite using activated carbon(AC) and titanium dioxide(TiO2) was investigated. AC was used to enhance the photocatalytic reaction of TiO2 by increasing the internal specific surface area of the foam composite. In this study, foam composites were prepared using the substitution rate of AC as the main variable. The NOx removal performance of specimen was evaluated according to the test method presented in ISO-22197-1. The specific surface area of the foam composite showed a tendency to increase according to the AC content, but decreased at 15% or more. Also, when the AC substitution rate was 15%, the NOx removal efficiency was the highest.

Deep Learning-based system for plant disease detection and classification (딥러닝 기반 작물 질병 탐지 및 분류 시스템)

  • Plant diseases and pests affect the growth of various plants, so it is very important to identify pests at an early stage. Although many machine learning (ML) models have already been used for the inspection and classification of plant pests, advances in deep learning (DL), a subset of machine learning, have led to many advances in this field of research. In this study, disease and pest inspection of abnormal crops and maturity classification were performed for normal crops using YOLOX detector and MobileNet classifier. Through this method, various plant pest features can be effectively extracted. For the experiment, image datasets of various resolutions related to strawberries, peppers, and tomatoes were prepared and used for plant pest classification. According to the experimental results, it was confirmed that the average test accuracy was 84% and the maturity classification accuracy was 83.91% in images with complex background conditions. This model was able to effectively detect 6 diseases of 3 plants and classify the maturity of each plant in natural conditions.

  • An ultra-high strength prestressed prismatic beam of 100 MPa in compressive strength was developed by increasing the water-tightness of concrete by utilizing centrifugal molding processes without adding expensive admixtures. The centrifugal prismatic PSC beam developed as the superstructure of the avalanche tunnel was constructed on a rahmen bridge in a small local river. In this study, the centrifugal prismatic beam was compared and analyzed based on the results of measurements made through static load tests and the results of numerical analysis of the target structure. The common load-carrying capacity and safety of the rahmen bridge were evaluated. The static·dynamic load tests and finite element analysis results of this bridge were similar, and it was confirmed that the behavior of the centrifugal prismatic beam was well simulated. All centrifugally formed square beams that make up the composite rahmen bridge were evaluated to secure sufficient load carrying capacity under the design live load, and structural reliability was proven by ensuring safety.

A Study on the way to improve the rear van's durability of Korean Light Tactical Vehicle (한국형 전술차량 후방밴 강성·강도 보강을 통한 내구성 향상에 관한 연구)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to improve the FRP Van's durability by analyzing the problematic parameters, redesigning the rear van, and verifying the design drafts using the CAE analysis & Rig test. Methods: The collected data through the government quality inspection and field spot check were thoroughly analyzed through the characteristics diagram and the improvement suggestions were verified by performing CAE analysis, like the dynamic stiffness, Torsional stiffness, open/close condition's strength, Full car durability and Carrying out the actual test. Results: The results of this study are as follows; The output of CAE analysis shows that improvement suggestions have considerable effects on the reinforcement of FRP structure, and the actual torsion and open/close condition durability test prove that rear van may have durable life which is equivalent to vehicle life cycle. Conclusion: The structural weakness of KLTV's FRP rear van was overcome by applying the stiffener in rear van and changing the bonding method of each FRP pieces. That suggestions were proved using CAE analysis and Rig test.
