Photometric Reverberation Mapping of Active Galactic Nuclei with Medium-band Filters and a Large FOV Telescope.

  • We present a noble method to determine BH mass of many AGNs directly through reverberation mapping using a small telescope with wide-field of view. In 2017 August we installed five medium-band filters to a 0.25m diameter $5deg^2$ FOV telescope at the McDonald observatory. The width of these filters (FWHM ~ 50nm) are matched to the broad line width of type-1 AGNs at various redshifts. From recently obtained data, about r ~ 19 magnitude AGNs can be detected in line component with 150s exposure. With this magnitude limit, about 20~30 AGNs can be studied in one field. We plan to carry out at one day cadence observation over 20~30 fields, enabling us to monitor up to ~1000 AGNs over a wide range of variability. This poster presents out plan and early results from test observation.

옥외 전기시설물 침수시 누설전류에 의한 인체영향 (Human Hazard by Outdoor Electrical Facilities in Submerged Area)

  • We show three-dimensional distribution of voltages resulted from the leakage current originated from outdoor electrical facilities in a submerged area. In case these facilities are grounded by the neutral line multiple grounding method, the existence of ungrounded electrical facilities can cause a disastrous effect on near-by passengers. In order to investigate this situation, we installed a real-scale test field for the experiment type I (for the leakage current path between a enclosure grounded electrical facility and another enclosure grounded one), and that for the experiment type II (for the leakage current path between a enclosure grounded electrical facility and another ungrounded one). For both cases, we carried out three-dimensional monitoring of the voltage distribution while varying additional conditions such as the exposure of the underground cables and the finishing of cable connection part. The result shows that a disastrous effect on human safety can arise from the leakage current without a pertinent measure for the construction and maintenance of outdoor electrical facilities.

  • Speckle photography is a simple non-contacting method for analysing surface displacement. In its basic form, the object to be studied is illuminated with a beam of laser light from any convenient direction, and a double exposure photography of the surface recorded on the fine-grain film, the object is undergone the displacement to be measured between exposures. Like this, it allows the strain field to be evaluated in two dimensions. A direct experimental comparison of speckle photography with theoretical value on a notched tensile test specimen showed that serious errors could, however, occur due to local surface tilting and due to aberra- tions of the imaging lens. Methods of minimising these effects and those of the speckle de-correlation which occurs by the various conditions are discussed.

FPXRF를 이용한 어린이 놀이시설의 페인트 표면 납 농도 평가 (Evaluation of lead concentration on the surface of children's playing equipments using a field portable x-ray fluorescence (FPXRF))

  • In order to evaluate the possible environmental lead hazard in children's playground and to test the practicability of field portable x-ray fluorescence(FPXRF) for environmental lead measurement, authors investigated lead concentration of lead-based paint on the surface of children's playing equipments in the playground of 13 apartments using FPXRF at the site in city A, Choongnam province. 93 spots were determined surface lead concentrations 3 times each using a FPXRF. Out of 93 spots, 83 spots (92%) were revealed to have lead in paint and mean concentration was $1.12{\pm}1.76mg/cm^2$. The mean concentration of lead on the surface of playing equipments at the apartments near the main street was $1.20mg/cm^2$ and higher than those at the apartments far away from the main street($0.81mg/cm^2$)(p<0.05). The mean concentration of lead on the surface of playing equipments painted with yellow color was $3.23mg/cm^2$ and the highest among all colors, whereas equipment painted white color was non-detectable. PVC and etc materials for construction of playing equipment showed higher surface lead concentration than other materials. The result suggests that it is necessary to be taken caution of the lead exposure in the playground of apartment and it should be taken any kind of confirmative action to prevent unwanted lead exposure from surface lead source of playing equipment. Authors found that FPXRF was very reliable and useful for field measurement to detect lead on the painted surface.

BIPV시스템의 건물적용 실증에 대한 구성요소별 발전성능 분석 (A study on the performance of various BIPV modules applied in a real building demonstration)

  • Building Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) is one of the best ways to generate electric power using the solar energy, which is clean and inexhaustible energy resources. The most of BIPV modules have the form of GtoG (Glass to Glass) photovoltaic in building applications. Degradation leading to failure in photovoltaic modules is very important factor in BIPV modules. This paper analyzed the performance of various BIPV modules through outdoor exposure tests. Performance of three BIPV modules(c-Si type, a-Si type and DSSC type) with three installation angles influenced by sun light, outdoor temperature, and wind velocity was monitored and analyzed. As a result, c-Si type BIPV module outperforms other BIPV modules(a-Si type). In terms of power efficiency of the module, the installed angle of $45^{\circ}$ is better than others(90 degree, 0 degree). In addition, more realistic data of various BIPV system performance could be available through the field test and integrated building test. In this study, relationship of the BIPV system is identified module's installation angle, power generation, architectural performance, etc.

야외시험을 통한 난주입수종의 방부성능 평가 및 국내 목재보존산업에서의 시사점 (Evaluation of Preservative Efficiacy for Refractory Wood Species in Field Tests and Its Implication for Korean Wood Preservation Industry)

  • 본 연구는 국내야외시험을 통하여 난주입수종의 방부성능을 조사하기 위하여 수행되었다. 난주입수종의 방부처리에 적합하다고 판단되는 캐나다 방부목재 표준규격 CSA O80 Series-08 중 주거용 방부목 그룹 C와 D에 따라 방부 처리된 웨스턴 헴록과 스프루스의 방부성능을 야외시험을 통해 평가하였다. 제조된 샘플들은 자상처리를 실시한 후 alkaline copper quaternary (ACQ)와 copper azole (CA)로 방부처리를 실시하였다. 성능시험용 시편들은 2010년 11월 경남 진주에 조성된 야외시험장에서 AWPA E7-09와 AWPA E18-06 방법에 따라 지접부 및 지상부 성능시험을 수행하였으며 매년 정기점검을 통해 시편들의 부후 및 흰개미 가해상태가 조사되었다. 2017년 3월까지 약 6년 5개월 동안의 국내 야외시험 결과를 살펴보면 무처리 시편에서는 부후와 흰개미 가해가 심하게 발생되었지만 방부처리된 시편에서는 거의 발생하지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 국내 목재사용환경에서 5 mm 침윤깊이의 적용가능성을 보여준다. 본 논문에서는 국내목재방부산업에서 난주입수종의 활용을 증가시키기 위해 고려되었으면 하는 부분을 침윤도와 보유량의 관점에서 논의한다.

비대칭 스퍼터링에 의한 TiAIN/CrN 나노 다층 박막의 합성 및 특성 분석에 관한 연구 (Studies on the Development of TiAIN/CrN Multi-layered Thin Films by Unbalanced Magnetron Sputtering Process)

  • In this work a multi-layered nanostructured TiAIN/CrN superlattice coatings was synthesized using closed-field unbalanced magnetron sputtering method and the relationships between their superlattice period (1), micro-structure, hardness and elastic modulus were investigated. In addition, wear test at $500^{\circ}C$ and oxidation resistance test at $900^{\circ}C$ were performed to investigate high temperature properties of these thin films. The coatings were characterized in terms of microstructure and mechanical properties by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and nano-indentation test. Results from TEM analysis showed that superlattice periods was inversely proportional to the jig rotation speed. The maximum hardness and elastic modulus of 37 GPa and 375 GPa were observed at superalttice period of 6.1 nm and 4.4 nm, respectively. An higher value of microhardness from TiAIN/CrN thin films than either TiAIN (30 GPa) or CrN (26 GPa) was noted while the elastic modulus was approximately an average of TiAIN and CrN films. These enhancement effects in superlattice films could be attributed to the resistance to dislocation glide across interface between the CrN and TiAIN layers. Much improved plastic deformation resistance ($H^3/E^2$) of 0.36 from TiAIN/CrN coatings was observed, compared with 0.15 and 0.16 from TiAIN and CrN, respectively. Also the wear resistance at $500^{\circ}C$ was largely increased than those of single TiAIN and CrN coatings and TiAIN/CrN coatings showed much reduced weight gain after exposure at $900^{\circ}C$ for 20 hours.

Anxiolytic effect of chronic ginseng treatment using elevated T-maze in mice

  • The roots of the plant Korean ginseng have been extensively used in the traditional Chinese herbal medicine. The effects of chronic administration of Korean ginseng extract (KGE) were investigated on two different anxiety models: the elevated T-maze (for inhibitory avoidance and escape measurements) and the open field test (OFT). Diazepam (1 mg/kg), KGE (10, 30 and 100 mg/kg) were administered orally for 15 days. On the 14th day, mice were previously exposed for 30 min to one of the open arms of the T-maze, 24 h before the test. On 15th day, mice had two exposures to the enclosed and open arm of the elevated T-maze followed by exposure to the open field apparatus. The number of line crossings in the apparatus was used to assess locomotor changes. Cumulative Concentration Response Curve of 5-HT was plotted using rat fundus which were pre-treated in a similar way. Treatment with Diazepam (1 mg/kg) and KGE (10, 30 and 100 mg/kg) significantly (P < 0.05) impaired inhibitory avoidance performance but did not impair escape latency. In OFT, diazepam facilitated locomotion as compared to vehicle and other treatment groups. KGE at any of the selected doses did not impair locomotion. Concentration response curve of 5-HT was shifted towards the right with suppression of maxima in rats treated with KGE. The results suggest that KGE exerts anxiolytic like behaviour in a specific subset of defensive behaviour, particularly those related to generalized anxiety disorder.

Mechanical Check용 Spherical device의 제작 및 특성 평가 (Practicability Assessment of Spherical Mechanical Check Device(SMCD))

  • PACS의 도입에 발맞추어 시작된 digital 의료영상은 현재 방사선 진단 및 치료 영역에서 일반화되었으며 특히 진단영역에서는 눈부신 발전을 거듭하고 있다. 치료영역에서의 digital image 구현은 상대적으로 느린 성장과정을 거쳐 오늘에 이르고 있다. 본 논문은 이러한 analog에서 digital로 변화하는 흐름을 인식하여 정도관리(Quality Assurance) 업무 중 mechanical check 부분을 digital image base 업무로 대체하여 수행하고, 기존의 육면체 또는 사각형틀의 개념을 탈피한 구형(球形)의 Spherical mechanical check device(SMCD) 고안하여 그 실용성을 실험하였다. Source(target)에서 image detecter 간의 거리가 항상 일정하고, Spherical mechanical check device(SMCD)의 중심까지 거리가 일정하다면 어느 방향에서 SMCD를 exposure하더라도 그 크기는 항상 일정하게 영상으로 표현 될 것이다. 이를 위해 정확한 반구(半球)를 2개 정밀 제작하여 그것을 합쳤을 때 정원(正圓)의 구(球)가 되도록 하였다. 이를 이용하여 radiation field와 light field의 일치도, radiation field 크기의 정확도($(5{\times}5,\;10{\times}10,\;15{\times}15\;cm)$), Collimator field 크기의 정확도($5{\times}5,\;10{\times}10,\;15{\times}15\;cm$), Gantry rotation isocenter check, Collimator rotation isocenter check, Room laser accuracy check, Collimator rotation angle check와 Couch rotation angle check 등 기존의 mechanical check를 digital image를 이용하여 실행할 수 있었으며, 기존의 Flat 또는 정육면체 형태의 mechanical check device로는 쉽게 하기 힘든 non-coplanar field에 적용되는 Gantry와 Couch가 동시에 rotation되었을 때 그 isocenter의 일치도를 real time으로 확인할 수 있었다.
