  • Purpose: This study set out to propose plans for more efficient and effective clinical practice by investigating the current state of clinical practice in the field of dental technology and thus provide basic data to develop pre- and post-education programs for clinical practice. Methods: The subjects include dental technicians at dental technical laboratories that were appointed as the place of clinical practice by the Department of Dental Technology of G University. The survey period spanned from December 22, 2014 to January 20, 2015. Total 250 questionnaires were distributed to them, and 190(76.0%) were returned. After excluding 23 whose answers were uncertain or seemed to lack reliability, total 167(66.8%) were used in final analysis. Results: 1. The most frequent practice the student did during clinical practice was articulator attachment, which was followed by pin operation or model making, one's own task and practice, sand and crow sculpturing, burying, casting, and grinding. 2. In case of going through the entire process, porcelain had the most students at 39(23.4%), being followed by crown & bridge at 28(16.8%), clinical model at 23(13.8%), full denture at 17(10.2%), and partial denture at 17(10.2%) in the order. 3. Of the students, 59.8%(30.5% for reinforced basic practice; 29.3% for intensive practice education) said that intensive practice education should be reinforced in school; and 22.3% said that intensive theory and practice education was needed, which indicates that 82.6% voiced their opinion of reinforcing education around practice. 4. The students felt that they lacked diligence, passion, and theoretical knowledge somewhat and were relatively good at clinical adaptation and operational skills. Conclusion: The findings show that the students felt an absolute lack of practice education as the school education was focused on theory and national exams in the field of dental technology, thus raising a need to reinforce practice education. Of all the respondents, 62.9% said there was a need to improve the current education with a focus on jobs. In future, education of dental technology should work to bring up able dental technicians that can perform in clinical dental technology right after graduation by reinforcing job-based practice education.

  • The objective of this study is to analyze the research articles on clinical social work practice effectiveness to build a scientific and scholaristic image of clinical social work practice. The data for analysis were the articles published in 13 professional journals including Korean J. of Social Welfare in the period of 1979 to 1999. The appearance rate of effectiveness studies was 1.28% with only 18 articles. Experimental studies consisted only 4 out of 18, and there were only 10 Quasi-experimental studies. Statistical errors were observed in most studies, so it is too early to call that the clinical social work practice is either effective or not effective. In order to see the comprehensive trends of the clinical social work practice, other clinical papers were also examined. The appearance rate was also as low as 8.75% (effectiveness studies included). While 18 articles were about the therapy model, other clinical papers were about generic practice models. However, those newly developed generic practice models had not yet been widely used nor tested for effectiveness. Thus, the followings were suggested: active research activities with solid methodology, team work with the field, theory and method development, education and re-education, and collaborative team work with other related fields. It was also pointed that the cross analysis of research papers by the publishing period, authors major and other background variables would be useful.

  • Objective: The purpose of this study is to present practice guidelines on what physical therapy students must learn during clinical training and how to evaluate them. Design: Design & development research Methods: A Delphi survey was conducted with 16 experts. Experts who participated in the study were asked to respond to 15 musculoskeletal system, 14 nervous system, and 12 physical factor therapy items through an online survey with a 5-point Likert score for each item regarding suitability and importance. Results: As a result of defining the core basic physical therapy skills that students in the Department of Physical Therapy must learn through clinical practice and in the process of evaluating them, there was a strong opinion that among the specific fields of physical therapy, evaluation items related to the musculoskeletal system, nervous system, and cardiorespiratory system were important. On the contrary, physical factor therapy showed poor results. Conclusions: In a previous study, opinions on the specialty of physical therapists were collected from current physical therapists, and the field of physical factor therapy was evaluated low. I think this reflects the perception that treatment using electricity has been commonly used in the field of physical therapy for a long time and does not require deep expertise among clinicians. Physical therapy clinical practice guidelines and efficient operation plans for clinical practice were presented. Through this, it can be usefully applied in hospitals where physical therapy students undergo clinical training in the future.

  • As a result of analyzing problems in field practice and its effects, the following conclusions can be obtained. Man students were more satisfied with their choice of this department than woman students and woman students recognized the importance of hospital practice although they felt the need of fire fighting station practice and man students felt the necessity of hospital practice, but they answered the fire fighting station practice was important. Departments of field practice are emergency and nurse departments in hospitals and emergency aid section in fire fighting stations. And it is found that field practice was performed well in relation to major subject. Areas of practice included emergency room, operation room and extensive cure unit and the experience of ambulance was more in fire fighting station than in hospital. Clinical guidance of professor was preferred to once a week and the students answered they felt satisfaction with practice through conference. Answer that field practice was helpful in understanding class was very high as 96.8% and its connection with employment was low as 12.8%. It is found that a proper timing of field practice was winter vacation for hospital practice after completing the second semester of the first year and summer vacation for fire fighting station practice after the first semester of the second year. The most difficult department in field practice was nurse department in hospital because 'respondents were practice students' and administrative department in fire fighting stations because 'they lacked recognition of paramedic'. In making practice diary, 'describing measure results' was difficult most and the respondents wanted to keep the diary in their custody.
