  • In this paper, search result list synthesis method is proposed using borda count method for still image retrieval based on MPEG-7 descriptors. MPEG-7 standardizes descriptors that extract feature information from media data. In many cases, using a single descriptor lacks of correctness, it is suggested to use multiple descriptors to enhance retrieval efficiency. In this paper, retrieval efficiency enhancement is achieved by combining multiple search results which are from each descriptor. In combining search result, newly calculated borda count method is proposed. Comparing current frequency compensated calculation, rank considered frequency compensation is used to score animage in database. This combining method is considered in Content based image retrieval system with relevance feedback algorithm which uses high level information from system user. In each relevance iteration step, adoptive borda count method is used to calculate score of images.

  • Motion artifacts of central and autonomic nervous system signals degrades the performance of the bio-signal based human factor analysis. Firstly, we propose a defining method of motion artifact section by analyzing successive image frames. Motion artifact section is defined when the amount of motion is greater than the pre-defined threshold. In here, the amount of motion is estimated by first derivation of image frames at temporal domain. Secondly, we propose another defining method of motion artifact section through designing 2D Gaussian probability density function model by analyzing feature vectors of one cycle of signal such as length and amplitude. The defined motion artifact sections are interpolated on the basis of 1D Gaussian function. At result of applying the method into photoplethysmography signal, we confirmed that the calculated heartbeat rate from the restored photoplethysmography came up to the one from electrocardiography. Also, we found that the video based method generated relatively more false acceptance of motion artifact section and the probability density function based method generated relatively more false rejection of motion artifact section.

  • A dual-level low voltage differential signalling (DLVDS) circuit is proposed aiming at reducing transmission lines for a LCD driver IC. We apply two data to the proposed DLVDS circuit as inputs. Then, the transmitter converts two inputs to two kinds of fully differential signals. In this circuit, two transmission lines are sufficient to transfer two inputs while keeping the LVDS feature. However, the circuit has a common mode bias fluctuation due to difference of the input bias and the reference bias. We compensate the common mode bias fluctuation using a feedback circuit of the current source bias. The receiver recovers the original input data through a level decoding circuit. We fabricated the proposed circuit using $0.25{\mu}m$ CMOS technology. The simulation results of proposed circuit shows 1-Gbps/2-line data rate and 35mW power consumption at 2.5V supply voltage, respectively.

  • This paper proposes a camera motion estimation technique using special relations of motion vectors of geometrically symmetrical triple points of two consecutive views of single camera. The proposed technique uses camera-induced motion vectors and their relations other than feature points and epioplar constraints. As contrast to the time consuming iterations or numerical methods in the calculation of E-matrix or F-matrix induced by epipolar constraints, the proposed technique calculates camera motion parameters such as panning, tilting, rolling, and zooming at once by applying the proposed linear equation sets to the motion vectors. And by devised background discriminants, it effectively reflects only the background region into the calculation of motion parameters, thus making the calculation more accurate and fast enough to accommodate MPEG-4 requirements. Experimental results on various types of sequences show the validity and the broad applicability of the proposed technique.

  • DNA methylation is a well-characterized epigenetic modification that plays central roles in mammalian development, genomic imprinting, X-chromosome inactivation and silencing of retrotransposon elements. Aberrant DNA methylation pattern is a characteristic feature of cancers and associated with abnormal expression of oncogenes, tumor suppressor genes or repair genes. Ten-eleven-translocation (TET) proteins are recently characterized dioxygenases that catalyze progressive oxidation of 5-methylcytosine to produce 5-hydroxymethylcytosine and further oxidized derivatives. These oxidized methylcytosines not only potentiate DNA demethylation but also behave as independent epigenetic modifications per se. The expression or activity of TET proteins and DNA hydroxymethylation are highly dysregulated in a wide range of cancers including hematologic and non-hematologic malignancies, and accumulating evidence points TET proteins as a novel tumor suppressor in cancers. Here we review DNA demethylation-dependent and -independent functions of TET proteins. We also describe diverse TET loss-of-function mutations that are recurrently found in myeloid and lymphoid malignancies and their potential roles in hematopoietic transformation. We discuss consequences of the deficiency of individual Tet genes and potential compensation between different Tet members in mice. Possible mechanisms underlying facilitated oncogenic transformation of TET-deficient hematopoietic cells are also described. Lastly, we address non-mutational mechanisms that lead to suppression or inactivation of TET proteins in cancers. Strategies to restore normal 5mC oxidation status in cancers by targeting TET proteins may provide new avenues to expedite the development of promising anti-cancer agents.

  • In this paper, a new process detection circuit is proposed. The proposed process detection circuit compares a long channel MOS transistor (L > 0.4um) to a short channel MOS transistor which uses lowest feature size of the process. The circuit generates the differential current proportional to the deviation of carrier mobilities according to the process variation. This method keep the two transistor's drain voltage same by implementing the feedback using a high gain OPAMP. This paper also shows the new design of the simple high gam self-biased rail-to-rail OPAMP using a proposed self-biased super MOS composite circuit. The gain of designed OPAMP is measured over 100dB with $0.2{\sim}1.6V$ wide range CMR in single stage. Finally, the proposed process detection circuit is applied to a differential VCO and the VCO showed that the proposed process detection circuit compensates the process corners successfully and ensures the wide rage operation.

  • In this paper, we proposed a variable average operation for a WDR(Wide Dynamic Range). The previously proposed average operation [5] improves hardware efficiency and complexity by replacing divider with multiplier. However, the previously proposed method has some weak-points. For example, there are counting horizontal and vertical length, and then the multiplier selects a Mode set by the user when the lengths exactly correspond with the image's size in the Mode. To compensate some weak-points, we change a Mode selection methods as a using the image's total size. Also, we propose another feature that it can be applied to various image sizes. To get a more accurate average, we add an external compensation value. We design the variable average operation using a Verilog-HDL and confirm that the Serial Multiplier's structure is better efficiency than Split Multiplier's structure.

  • As the advent of the digital age, documents are often scanned to be archived or to be transmitted over the network. The largest proportion of documents is texts and the next is seal images indicating the author of the documents. While a lot of research has been conducted to recognize texts in scanned documents and commercialized text recognizing products are developed as highlighted the importance of the scanned document, information about seal images is discarded. In this paper, we study how to extract the seal image area from the color or black and white document containing the seal image and how to save the seal image. We propose a preprocessing step to remove other components except for the candidate outlines of the seal imprint from scanned documents and a method to select the final region of interest from these candidates by using the feature of seal images. Also in case of a seal imprint overlapped with texts, the most similar image among those stored in the database is selected through the template matching process. We verify the implemented system for a various type of documents produced in schools and analyze the results.
