In this paper the magnetic field properties of the soft magnetic alloys (Fe-Si-Cr and Fe-Ni-Cr) are studied in advance for the development of electro-magnetic shielding films, which could be used in the IT Devices (NFC, mobile phone, computer, etc.).As a result each of the selected soft magnetic alloy melts of the corresponding compositions is water-dispersed into the disk-shaped grains, which are soaked in polymer resin, and of which two types of thin film of thickness 0.1mm and 1mm are made by passing through the heating calendar roller. And the magnetic permeability and the shielding effectiveness of the polymer films containing the soft magnetic alloy grains are measured over the whole frequency bands from the low frequency to 10GHz. Before the experiments of the soft magnetic alloy, a special equation is proposed to estimate the permeability of the alloy, and the equation is verified with the pre-published data by MATLAB, and from which the most optimal compositions can be decided. And the SE(Shielding Effectiveness) of the polymer films containing the soft magnetic alloy grains is simulated by the HFSS.

The corrosion behavior of heat-resistant alloys, More 1 and Super 22H in molten salts of LiCl and $LiCl-Li_2$O was investigated in the temperature range of $650~850^{\circ}C$. In a molten salt of LiCl, a dense protective oxide scale of $LiCrO_2$ was formed, following growth of oxide scale with parabolic kinetics. But in a mixed molten salt of LiCl, a dense protective oxide scale of $LiCrO_2$ was formed, following growth of oxide scale with parabolic kinetics. But in a mixed molten salt of $LiCl-Li_2$O, a porous non-protective scale of Li\ulcorner(Cr, Ni, Fe)\ulcornerO$_2$was formed, following growth of oxide scale with linear kinetics. The corrosion rate increased slowly with the increase of temperature up to $750^{\circ}C$, but above $750^{\circ}C$ rapid increase in corrosion rate observed. The corrosion behavior of Super 22H alloy was similar to that of More 1 alloy, but Super 22H showed higher corrosion resistance than More 1.
Tungsten heavy alloys (W-Ni-Fe) play an important role in various industries because of their excellent mechanical properties, such as the excellent hardness of tungsten, low thermal expansion, corrosion resistance of nickel, and ductility of iron. In tungsten heavy alloys, tungsten nanoparticles allow the relatively low-temperature molding of high-melting-point tungsten and can improve densification. In this study, to improve the densification of tungsten heavy alloy, nanoparticles are manufactured by ultrasonic milling of metal oxide. The physical properties of the metal oxide and the solvent viscosity are selected as the main parameters. When the density is low and the Mohs hardness is high, the particle size distribution is relatively high. When the density is high and the Mohs hardness is low, the particle size distribution is relatively low. Additionally, the average particle size tends to decrease with increasing viscosity. Metal oxides prepared by ultrasonic milling in high-viscosity solvent show an average particle size of less than 300 nm based on the dynamic light scattering and scanning electron microscopy analysis. The effects of the physical properties of the metal oxide and the solvent viscosity on the pulverization are analyzed experimentally.

The chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking (CISCC) is one of the major integrity concerns in dry storage canisters made of austenitic stainless steels (ASSs). In this study, an advanced duplex stainless steel (DSS) with a composition of Fe-19Cr-4Ni-2.5Mo-4.5Mn (ADCS) was developed and its performance was compared with that of commercial ASS and DSS alloys. The chemical composition of ADCS was determined to obtain greater pitting and CISCC resistance as well as a proper combination of strength and ductility. Then, the thermomechanical processing (TMP) condition was applied, which resulted in higher strength than ASSs (304L SS and 316L SS) and better ductility than DSSs (2101 LDSS and 2205 DSS). The potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectra (EIS) results represented the better pitting corrosion resistance of ADCS compared to 304L SS and 316L SS by forming a better passive layer. The CISCC tests using four-point loaded specimens showed that cracks were initiated at 24 h for 304L SS and 144 h for 316L SS, while crack was not found until 1008 h for ADCS. Overall, the developed alloy, ADCS, showed better combination of CISCC resistance and mechanical properties as dry storage canister materials than commercial alloys.
The effects of heat-treatment with magnetic or non-magnetic field on magnetic properties of gas-atomized MPP dust cores subjected to various cooling processes after annealing were investigated. Upon magnetic-field annealing, ac permeability and core loss decreased with the increase of cooling rate, which were attributed to the generation of inhomogeneous internal stress and anomalous eddy current loss, respectively. It was not observed the formation of ordered phase and the related change in magnetic properties at the cooling stage for MPP dust cores. In MPP alloys, magnetic anisotropy was easily induced through the directional order, and permeability and core loss were changed under the conditions of low cooling rate and magnetic annealing.
In the present study, the effects of various heat treatments on the microstructure and mechanical properties of dual phase ODS steels were investigated to enhance the high strength at elevated temperature. Dual phase ODS steels have been designed by the control of ferrite and austenite formers, i.e., Cr, W and Ni, C in Fe-based alloys. The ODS steels were fabricated by mechanical alloying and a hot isostatic pressing process. Heat treatments, including hot rolling-tempering and normalizing-tempering with air- and furnace-cooling, were carefully carried out. It was revealed that the grain size and oxide distributions of the ODS steels can be changed by heat treatment, which significantly affected the strengths at elevated temperature. Therefore, the high temperature strength of dual phase ODS steel can be enhanced by a proper heat treatment process with a good combination of ferrite grains, nano-oxide particles, and grain boundary sliding.
The previously developed two dimensional model was modified in order to predict more accurately the degree of microsegregation and eutectic fraction on in weld metal whose solidification rate is very fast. The model employed the same assumptions with previous model but considered of a tip undercooling. The previously predicted microsegregation and eutectic fraction has the discrepancies between simulated and examined results in the weld metal solidification. The experiments for the weld metal solidification of 2024 A1 and Fe-Ni alloy were carried out in order to examine the reasonability and feasibility of this modified model. The concentration profile of the solute and eutectic fraction predicted by the simulation agreed well with those found from experimental works. According to the results, it was believed that the dendrite tip undercooling considered in the modified model be reasonable for predicting the degree of microsegregation more accurately in weld metla solidification. In the GTA welds, degree of dendrite-tip undercooling increases with increasing solidification rage(welding speed). This serves to increase the concentration of dendrite core and thus result in reducing the degree of segregation. And solid state diffusion(back diffusion) during solidification is very low in the weld metal solidification so that little additional homogenization of solute occurs during solidification. With consideration of tip undercooling this modified model can predict exactly degree of microsegregation and eutectic fraction from slow solidification(casting) to fast solidification(welding).

Recently, the demands for separation/recovery of valuable metals such as nickel or tin from copper based alloys has been attracting much attention from the viewpoints of environmental protection and resource utilization. In this report, experimental results on concentration increasement of nickel and tin compared to the previous report are investigated. Ni is successfully separated by a organic solvent and reduced to the metal powder whose concentration is over 98 %. Sn is separated by a selective solution method and its concentration is increased to 97.5 % by three consecutive solution and reduction process. Crystal structure, surface morphology and microstructure of the separated samples are studied.

The most important industrial application of gamma radiation in characterizing green compacts is the determination of the density. Examples are given where this method is applied in manufacturing technical components in powder metallurgy. The requirements imposed by modern quality management systems and operation by the workforce in industrial production are described. The accuracy of measurement achieved with this method is demonstrated and a comparison is given with other test methods to measure the density. The advantages and limitations of gamma ray densitometry are outlined. The gamma ray densitometer measures the attenuation of gamma radiation penetrating the test parts (Fig. 1). As the capability of compacts to absorb this type of radiation depends on their density, the attenuation of gamma radiation can serve as a measure of the density. The volume of the part being tested is defined by the size of the aperture screeniing out the radiation. It is a channel with the cross section of the aperture whose length is the height of the test part. The intensity of the radiation identified by the detector is the quantity used to determine the material density. Gamma ray densitometry can equally be performed on green compacts as well as on sintered components. Neither special preparation of test parts nor skilled personnel is required to perform the measurement; neither liquids nor other harmful substances are involved. When parts are exhibiting local density variations, which is normally the case in powder compaction, sectional densities can be determined in different parts of the sample without cutting it into pieces. The test is non-destructive, i.e. the parts can still be used after the measurement and do not have to be scrapped. The measurement is controlled by a special PC based software. All results are available for further processing by in-house quality documentation and supervision of measurements. Tool setting for multi-level components can be much improved by using this test method. When a densitometer is installed on the press shop floor, it can be operated by the tool setter himself. Then he can return to the press and immediately implement the corrections. Transfer of sample parts to the lab for density testing can be eliminated and results for the correction of tool settings are more readily available. This helps to reduce the time required for tool setting and clearly improves the productivity of powder presses. The range of materials where this method can be successfully applied covers almost the entire periodic system of the elements. It reaches from the light elements such as graphite via light metals (AI, Mg, Li, Ti) and their alloys, ceramics ($AI_20_3$, SiC, Si_3N_4, $Zr0_2$, ...), magnetic materials (hard and soft ferrites, AlNiCo, Nd-Fe-B, ...), metals including iron and alloy steels, Cu, Ni and Co based alloys to refractory and heavy metals (W, Mo, ...) as well as hardmetals. The gamma radiation required for the measurement is generated by radioactive sources which are produced by nuclear technology. These nuclear materials are safely encapsulated in stainless steel capsules so that no radioactive material can escape from the protective shielding container. The gamma ray densitometer is subject to the strict regulations for the use of radioactive materials. The radiation shield is so effective that there is no elevation of the natural radiation level outside the instrument. Personal dosimetry by the operating personnel is not required. Even in case of malfunction, loss of power and incorrect operation, the escape of gamma radiation from the instrument is positively prevented.
During the process of sulfur dioxide removal, flue gas desulfurization equipment provides a serious internal corrosion environment in creating sulfuric acid dew point corrosion. Therefore, the utilities must use the excellent corrosion resistance of steel desulfurization facilities in the atmosphere. Until now, the trend in developing anti-sulfuric acid steels was essentially the addition of Cu, in order to improve the corrosion resistance. The experimental alloy used in this study is Fe-0.03C-1.0Mn-0.3Si-0.15Ni-0.31Cu alloys to which Ru, Zn and Ta were added. In order to investigate the effect of $H_2SO_4$ concentration and the alloying elements, chemical and electrochemical corrosion tests were performed. In a low concentration of $H_2SO_4$ solution, the major factor affecting the corrosion rate of low alloy steels was the exchange current density for $H^+/H_2$ reaction, while in a high concentration of $H_2SO_4$ solution, the major factors were the thin and dense passive film and resulting passivation behavior. The alloying elements reducing the exchange current density in low concentration of $H_2SO_4$, and the alloying elements decreasing the passive current density in high concentration of $H_2SO_4$, together play an important role in determining the corrosion rate of Cu-bearing low alloy steels in a wide range of $H_2SO_4$ solution.
