충격파관을 이용한 DISK형 MHD발전기에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Disk Type MHD Generator Using a Shock Tube)

  • In MHD power generation system, enthalpy of the working gas is convened to electric power directly through expansion in generator channel. It means that electric power can be generated without a moving mechanical linkage such as turbine blades. The principle of MHD generation is based on Faraday'law of induction that eletromotive force(u$\times$B) is generated when the working gas of velocity u flows a channel in which magnetic field of strength(B) exists. In this paper, helium gas seeded with cesium is used as working gas. There are two types of generator in MHD generation; linear type faraday and disk type hall generator. Rogowski coils having the bandwidth of the 100(Hz) ~ 20(kHz) were used for measuring current flowing MHD disk channel. Optimum load resistor value of the MHD generator studied was 2.5[$\Omega$]. Disk type hall generator's generation performance is the main target of this paper, which superiors to linear type Faraday generator in many points. Isentropic efficiency and enthalpy extraction rate of disk type shock tube driven hall generator is discussed here.

Hy-CPC의 개발 및 성능평가 (Development and Evaluation of Hy-CPC)

  • Condensation particle counter (CPC) has been one of the most important basic instrument for measuring number concentration of submicron aerosols. The principle of the CPC is to expose aerosols to a supersaturated vapor and cool down which causes adiabatic expansion. The particles grow by heterogenous nucleation to a sufficient size for easy detection by optical method. However, for growth by condensation, CPC essentially needs both saturater and condensor causing a heavy system. Therefore, it is hard to install commercial CPC to tethered balloon package system. In this study, we developed customized CPC for tethered balloon package system called Hy-CPC which is lighter and smaller in structure than commercial CPCs, and evaluated activation efficiency and detection efficiency by Hy-CPC using electrostatic method (electrometer and Faraday cup).

  • In the near future, with the urgent requirement of environmental protection, hydrogen based energy system is essential. However, at the present time, most of the hydrogen is produced by reforming, which still produces carbon dioxide. This study proposes a high-power electrolytic hydrogen production system based on solid oxide electrolysis cell with no harmful emissions to the environment. Besides that, the parametric study and optimization are also carried to examine the effect of individual parameter and their combination on system efficiency. The result shows that the increase in steam conversion rate and hydrogen molar fraction in incoming stream reduces system efficiency because of the fuel heater power increase. Besides, the higher Faraday efficiency does not always result a higher system efficiency.

Pt포일 양극을 이용한 전기화학적 암모니아 수전해 특성 연구 (Characterization of Electrochemical Ammonia Electrolysis Using a Platinum Electrode for Anodic Reaction)

  • In this study, a water electrolysis was studied to investigate the effect of ammonia on current density and H2 gas production. A H type cell with three electrodes was used and KOH solution was used as electrolyte. The conventional platinum foil was used for working electrode, whereas nickel foam was used for counter electrode. CV experiment was performed to see the activity of ammonia oxidation reaction. In addition, CP experiment was done to examine the dependence of Faraday efficiency of hydrogen on current density and NH3 concentration. The CV result shows the 0.5M NH3 concentration required for highest current density and reliable operation. The CP result shows the increased current density leads to higher H2 generation. The higher H2 production and subsequent energy efficiency was observed for 0.5M NH3 using a Pt/13%Rh coil for a cathode as compared to those in water electrolysis.

  • 본 연구에서는 패러데이 모트를 사용한 기존의 피코리터 주입용 미세유체 칩에 은 나노입자를 이용한 전극을 추가하여 전압을 낮추며 효율을 높이는 실험을 수행하였다. 먼저, 복잡한 제조공정에서 탈피하여 은 나노입자 용액을 한 방울 떨어뜨리는 간단한 과정만으로 미세유체 피코리터 주입기 내에 전극을 제조하였다. 본 개념을 통한 은 나노입자 전극과 패러데이 모트가 통합된 미세유체 칩은 은 나노입자 전극을 사용하지 않는 기존 미세유체 칩의 피코리터 주입 시작 전압인 260 V 보다 낮은 전압인 180 V에서 피코리터 주입이 작동되었다. 또한 미세유체 피코리터 주입기는 피코리터 주입 부피를 7.5 pL부터 27.5 pL까지 정밀하게 조절할 수 있음을 주된 장점으로 하고 있다. 본 미세유체 피코리터 주입기는 미세유체 시스템의 새로운 기능을 설계함으로써 각 연구분야를 탐구할 유용한 플랫폼으로 기대되고 있다.

새로운 도선감는 방법을 사용한 전기장을 이용한 스케일 제거 (Prevention of Particulate Scale with a new winding method in the Electronic Descaling Technology)

  • This paper presents a new winding method in the electronic descaling(ED) technology. The ED technology Produces an oscillating electric field via the Faraday's law to Provide necessary molecular agitation to dissolved mineral ions. But present method gives another agitation force to mineral ions, which is Lorentz's force. Experiments were peformed at various Renolds number. A series of tests was conducted, measuring pressure drop across test section and the overall heat transfer coefficient as a function of time. In order to accelerate the rate of fouling, artificial hard water of 1000ppm $CaCO_3$ was used throughout the tests. The results show that the new method accelerates collision of mineral ions and improvs efficiency of system.

PN-PEMS 장비의 개발 및 평가 (Development and Performance Evaluation of PN-PEMS)

  • Particle number portable emission measurement system (PN-PEMS) is an instrument for measuring number concentration of automobile exhaust. The principle of some pre-existing commercial PN-PEMS is to charge particles and display the number of particles by measuring current. However, this method has some problems for measuring exhaust. In this study, to solve these issues, we have developed a single particle counting PN-PEMS based condensation particle counter (CPC). The PN-PEMS based CPC does not affect driving conditions and it is convenient for mobile because the instrument is small and light in structure. We evaluated counting efficiency of PN-PEMS based CPC by using electrostatic method (electrometer and Faraday cup).

  • 마찰대전 분리는 서로 상이한 두 물체를 마찰시켜 각자 반대극성으로 하전시킨 후 전기장에 통과시켜 분리하는 기술이며, 이때자 물질의 하전극성은 work function에 의해 각기 다른 극성으로 하전된다. 본 연구에서는 마찰대전을 이용한 정전분리에 기본이 되는 각종 플라스틱의 work function을 알아보는 데 중점을 두었으며 마찰대전 후 하전량에 따른 분리 효율을 도출하여 최적의 운전조건을 위한 하전특성을 알아보았다. 플라스틱 시료는 2가지의 샘플을 가지고 실험하였으며. 이를 각기 다른 재질의 드럼형 마찰하전장치를 이용하여 대전을 시켰다. 또한 Faraday Cage를 이용하여 하전량을 측정한 후 work function을 도출하였다. 하전된 입자는 $\pm$20 kV의 전장에 통과시켜 분리실험을 수행하고 이를 통해서 하전량과 분리효율간의 상관관계를 도출하였다.

알루미늄의 전기분해를 이용한 인 제거 (Phosphorus Removal by Electrolysis with Aluminium Electrodes)

  • Laboratory experiments were performed to investigate the effects of various factors on the phosphorus removal by electrolysis with aluminium electrodes. The efficiency of phosphorus removal increases with increasing of voltage applied, surface area of electrodes and electrolyte concentration, and decreasing of electrode distance. The phosphorus removal was not affected by the connection number of an electric circuit. The amount of aluminium ion eluted from electrodes according to Faraday's law was 4.47 mg and the A/P mole ratio was 2.14 at the electric current value of 20 mA.
