The purpose of this study, research questions are as follows. First, child care center-family linked sensory activity is effective in the infant's physical development? Second, child care center-family linked sensory activity is effective in the infant-parent interaction? The subjects of this study are 56 infants of 1-2 year old and their mother or father 56 people in S and D infant care facilities in K city. S infant care center, experimental group, carry out child care center-family linked sensory activity. D infant care center is control group to apply an integrated program. The child care center-family linked sensory activity are conduct on 24 times, 3 times a week, totally 8 weeks. The results were as follows. First, child care center-family linked sensory activities are partially effective on the infant's physical development than the control group. Therefore, in order to promote the development of the infant's physical development, home and child care center will be done in conjunction with sensory activities are needed. Second, child care center-family linked sensory activities had positive effect on infant-parent interaction than the control group. Therefore, to improve infant-parent interaction, it is necessary to carry out child care center-family linked sensory activities. In conclusion, child care center-family linked sensory activities are correlated in positive effects on the physical development of infants and the infant-parent interaction.

  • This study presents the Family FIRO model for stepfamily development. The Family FIRO model conceptualizes interactional patterns in stepfamily for dealing with developmental tasks and suggests a method for organizing assessment and for prioritizing treatment strategies. Boundary ambiguity role confusion intergenerational coalition and loyalty conflict lack of relationship commitment and resource management issues of stepfamily constitute the inclusion interaction dimension in The Family FIRO model. While power role negotiation conflict decision making and discipline issues represent the control interaction dimension lack of emotional exchange and open self-disclosure issues are intimacy interaction dimension in the stepfamily. The family FIRO model suggests that stepfamily should attend to the developmental tasks related to inclusion before placing a major emphasis on control issues which in turn should come before emphasis on stepfamily intimacy.

  • External social support for family can be an important resource for families to overcome economic pressure, and can be a way to understand the concept and process of family resilience in the context of Korean economic crisis. To explore the role of external social support that alleviates the negative effects of economic pressure on marital satisfaction, the buffering effects were tested in two ways. First, the interaction effect between external social support and economic pressure on marital satisfaction was tested using hierarchical linear regression model. Second, the scores of marital satisfaction were plotted by the median scores of economic pressure and external social support. Results from the analyses of 191 couples (382 husbands and wives) indicated that external social support help families by buffering the negative effects of economic pressure on marital satisfaction by interacting with economic pressure.

  • The objective of this study was to investigate the influence of family-related factors and age-friendly environment on intergenerational interaction in middle-aged group and the older adult group. Based on the results, this study is to suggest countermeasures for decreasing intergenerational interaction with the population aging. This study analyzed 260 sample participants aged from 45 to 64 and 399 sample participants aged 64 and more, categorizing them into middle-aged group and the older adult group respectively. The sample participants were taken from '2014 Survey on the Aged Society' and had at least one adult child aged over 18 at the time of participation. In order to identify the relationship between five sub-dimensions related to family, age-friendly environment and intergenerational interaction within the family in two age groups, t-test and multiple regression analysis were used. As a result, both two family-related factors had positive correlation with intergenerational interaction within the family. However, affective solidarity showed a higher significance in the middle-aged group and familism showed a higher significance in the older adult group. Among the sub-dimensions related to age-friendly environment, only personal opinion on age integration showed significance in the older adult group. This study provides several implications from the results.

  • Purposes: The purposes of this descriptive survey study were to describe levels of Maternal-Fetal Interaction Belief and Maternal-Fetal Interaction, and to define their correlation. Method: Data were collected from 273 pregnant women who visited one public health center and OB/GY clinic in Gangneung city. The instrument used for this study was a self-report questionnaire that included the Maternal-Fetal Interaction Belief scale(MFIBS) and maternal-fetal interaction. Results: The mean scores for maternal-fetal interaction belief and maternal-fetal interaction were $107.41{\pm}15.67$ and $31.75{\pm}5.92$ respectively. For maternal-fetal interaction belief, there were significant differences according to education, religion, income, feeding plan, marriage satisfaction, family support, and husband's love. For maternal-fetal interaction, there were significant differences according to mother's age, period of pregnancy, marriage satisfaction, family support, husband's love. There was a correlation between maternal-fetal interaction belief and maternal-fetal interaction. Conclusion: Maternal-fetal interaction belief is related to increase in maternal-fetal interaction and fetal development. It is essential to develop a maternal-fetal interaction program that includes maternal-fetal interaction belief.

Employment status, interaction with family members and frequency of media exposure were independent influencing factors on consumer competencies of urban wives. 3. Reviewing a causal model, the results were as follows. Employment status, interaction with family members and frequency of media exposure had an effect on consumer competencies of urban wives directly. (Korean J Human Ecology 1(2):23~30, 1998)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of factors of family leisures on family intra-system dynamics and quality of family life. A total 309 questionnaires was analyzed from married men and women of school-age families. Factors of family leisures were classified in 'education oriented', 'hobby oriented', social oriented'and 'family oriented'in the study ahead.(Refer to Journal of korean Home Management association Vol. 19(2).) The major results of this research were as follows. First, family intra-system dynamics was classified 'individual progress', 'sentimental stability','interaction'and 'management efficiency'. Second, the group that participated more in 'social oriented'and less in 'family oriented'activities had higher level of 'individual progress'. The group that participated less in 'social oriented'and more in 'education oriented'activities had higher level of 'sentimental stability'The group that participated more in 'education oriented'activities had higher level of 'interaction'and 'management efficiency '. Based on the results as above, we suggest people need to overcome 'a mental panic'through the family leisure. And we need to develop concern with family leisure as a practical loaming.

  • This study developed and validated a 'Parent-child Lexical Interaction Scale for Preschoolers (PLIS-P)'. First, we developed the preliminary scale with 7 factors after reviewing previous literature related to vocabulary and literacy instruction for young children and reflected on feedback from child studies experts and mothers with young children. Subsequently, to validate the scale, the online survey was conducted on mothers with 5-to 6-year-old children who live in Seoul, Gyeonggi, Incheon, Gyeongsang, Chungcheong, Jeolla, Gangwon, and Jeju. Responses from 309 mothers were used to conduct exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis and correlation analysis. The results were as follows. First, the result of exploratory analysis showed that the model with 7 factors was satisfactory: (1) vocabulary exposure, (2) word elaboration, (3) scaffolding, (4) play activity, (5) conventional instruction, (6) word type awareness instruction, (7) word morphology instruction. Second, confirmatory factor analysis confirmed the good fit of the model. Third, the concurrent validity was confirmed by correlation analysis using EC-HOME. Last, the internal consistency reliability of each factor of PLIS-P was also confirmed. This study developed both a theoretical framework of parent-child lexical interaction and a Parent-child Lexical Interaction Scale for Preschoolers. This scale can be used by parents, practitioners, and researchers to acquire knowledge about interaction related to words between Korean parents and young children.
