  • Nitzberg has analyzed the detection performance of the clutter map constant false alarm rate (CFAR) detector using single pulse. In this paper, we extend the detection analysis to the clutter map CFAR detector that employs M-pulse noncoherent integration. Detection and false alarm probabilities for Swerling target models are derived. The analytical results show that the larger the number of integrated pulses M, the higher the detection probability. On the other hand, the analytical results for Swerling target models show that the detection performance of the completely decorrelated target signal is better than that of the completely correlated target.

  • Wireless sensor networks are vulnerable to an adversary due to scarce resources and wireless communication. An adversary can compromise a sensor node and launch a variety of attacks such as false report injection attacks. This attack may cause monetary damage resulting in energy drain by forwarding the false reports and false alarms at the base station. In order to address this problem, a number of en-route filtering schemes has been proposed. Notably, a dynamic en-route filtering scheme can save energy by filtering of the false report. In the key dissemination phase of the existing scheme, the nodes closer to the source node may not have matching keys to detect the false report. Therefore, continuous attacks may result in unnecessary energy wastage. In this paper, we propose a key re-distribution scheme to solve this issue. The proposed scheme early detects the false report injection attacks using initially assigned secret keys in the phase of the key pre-distribution. The experimental results demonstrate the validity of our scheme with energy efficiency of up to 26.63% and filtering capacity up to 15.92% as compared to the existing scheme.

  • The probability distribution of hold-in time and that of the time to reject false lock are investigated for the tracking procedure in spread spectrum communication systems. These are helpful in deciding dwell time and threshold level of correlatoi circuits. The probability distributions are derived by series expansion of generating function for discrete probability function and summation of the coefficients for corresponding terms. And the formulas described by general system parameters are obtained.

  • This study evaluates the accuracy of corrective feedback from Grammarly, an online grammar checker, on essays written by cyber university learners in terms of detected errors, suggested replacement forms, and false alarms. The results indicate that Grammarly has a high overall error detection rate of over 65%, being particularly strong at catching errors related to articles and prepositions. In addition, on the detected errors, Grammarly mostly provide accurate replacement forms and very rarely make false alarms. These findings suggest that Grammarly has high potential as a useful educational tool to complement the drawbacks of teacher feedback and to help learnersimprove grammatical accuracy in their written work. However, it is still premature to conclude that Grammarly can completely replace teacher feedback because it has the possibility (approximately 35%) of failing to detect errors and the limitationsin detecting errors in certain categories. Since the feedback from Grammarly is not entirely reliable, caution should be taken for successful integration of Grammarly in English writing classes. Teachers should make judicious decisions on when and how to use Grammarly, based on a keen awareness of Grammarly's strengths and limitations.

  • In this paper, we present an architecture of the constant false alarm rate (CFAR) detector called the generalized order statistics (GOS) CFAR detector, which covers various order statistics (OS) and cell-averaging (CA) CFAR detectors as special cases. For the proposed GOS CFAR detector, we obtain unified formulas for the false alarm and detection probabilities. By properly choosing coefficients of the GOS CFAR detector, one can utilize any combination of ordered samples to estimate the background noise level. Thus, if we use a reference window of size N, we can realize $(2^N-1)$ kinds of CFAR processors and obtain their performances from the unified formulas. Some examples are the CA, the OS, the censored mean level, and the trimmed mean CFAR detectors. As an application of the GOS CFAR detector to multiple target detection, we propose an algorithm called the adaptive mean level detector, which censors adaptively the interfering target returns in a reference window.

  • Currently the number of COVID-19 cases is increasing rapidly around the world. One way to restrict the spread of COVID-19 infection is to find confirmed cases using rapid diagnosis. The previously proposed group testing problem assumed without measurement noise, but recently, false positive and false negative cases have occurred during COVID-19 testing. In this paper, we define the noisy group testing problem and analyze how much measurement noise affects the performance. In this paper, we show that the group testing system should be designed to be less susceptible to measurement noise when conducting group testing with a low positive rate of COVID-19 infection. And compared with other developed reconstruction algorithms, our proposed algorithm shows superior performance in noisy group testing.

  • An intrusion detection technique based on host consider system call sequence or system call arguments. These two ways are suitable when system call sequence or order and length of system call arguments are out of order. However, there are two disadvantages which a false positive rate and a false negative rate are high. In this paper we propose the T-N2SCD detection model based on Time Window in order to reduce false positive rate and false negative rate. Data for using this experiment is provided from DARPA. As experimental results, the proposed model showed that the false positive rate and the false negative rate are lowest at an interval of 1000ms than at different intervals.

  • As the size of the data is getting larger and larger due to improvement of the telecommunication techniques, it would be main issues to develop and process the database. The bloom filter used to lookup a particular element under the given set is very useful structure because of the space efficiency. In this paper, we analyse the main factor of the false positive and propose the new parallel type bloom filter in order to minimize the false positive which is caused by other hash functions. The proposed method uses the memory as large as the conventional bloom filter use, but it can improve the processing speed using parallel processing. In addition, if we use the perfect hash function, the insertion and deletion function in the proposed bloom filter would be possible.
