Lately, the modulated EGR system that includes EGR valve and EGR cooler is being installed in diesel engines fur the purpose of the simultaneous reduction of NOx and PM. In this study. we designed and constructed a test bench for the performance evaluation of the modulated EGR system, and tested an electronically controlled EGR valve for 2.0 L diesel engines. The performance of the EGR valve was evaluated in terms of the valve lift behavior. the valve opening/closing response, and the mass flow rate through the valve. The valve lift with respect to the duty ratio of PWM signal was non-linear, and followed a different path fur valve opening and closing, that is, hysteresis. The valve opening response was concluded satisfactory falling within the usual standard response time. For the duty ratio of 40 to 60%, the mass flow rate through the valve was observed to depend on the pressure difference across the valve as well as the duty ratio, while it solely depended on the pressure difference fur the duty ratio above 60%.

While many studies on the heat transfer effect of an impinging jet have been published, most studies focus on the downward impinging jet. This study investigates the impinging jet heat transfer phenomenon when water at a temperature of $24^{\circ}C$ impinges on the downward isothermal circular plate at 60, 70, and $80^{\circ}C$ and when the upward round jet nozzle is 4, 6, and 8 mm diameter with a flow rate 3.6, 4.6, and 5.6 L/min, respectively, and when the ratio of the nozzle clearance/nozzle diameter (H/D) is 1. The results showed that, as the nozzle diameter decreases, the heat transfer coefficient increases at a constant flow rate. The correlation equation of $Nu_r$, $Pr_r$, and $Re_{jg}$ is obtained in the impinging and constant velocity flow region $(Nu_r/Pr^{0.4}_r)Dr=4.6[Re_{jg}(r/R_c)Dr]^{0.8}$ at all flow rates, in the deceleration and falling flow regions $(Nu_r/Pr^{0.4}_r)Dr=42.7{\mid}Re_{jg}(r/R_c)Dr-345.7{\mid}^{0.3}$ at 3.6 L/min, $(Nu_r/Pr^{0.4}_r)Dr=92.4{\mid}Re_{jg}(r/R_c)Dr-16.8{\mid}^{0.2}$ at 4.6 L/min, and $(Nu_r/Pr^{0.4}_r)Dr=322.4{\mid}Re_{jg}(r/R_c)Dr-536.2{\mid}^{0.01}$ at 5.6 L/min.

In this paper, we propose a new Bit-Rate control algorithm based on bit usage matching to substitute encoded GOP(s) for new GOP(s) in MPEG-2 bitstream. It iteratively encodes current picture according to quantization value of previous picture and records bit-usage of each slice until nearly target bits are used. With target bits falling in two output bits, quantization value of slice should be changed to alleviate output bit error. We use recorded bit-usage information to decide which slices should be encoded with one quantization value and others with another. As every macroblock has different activity, we change macroblock quantization value using slice quantization value and activity value. The simulation results demonstrate that the fluctuation of the output bits can be kept within few-several tens of bits while maintaining the quality of the reconstructed pictures at a relatively stable level.

Tagging method, recapture frequencies and mortalities were investigated to obtain the basic data for the effective release technique of abalone, Haliotis discus hannai. Tagged and untagged H. discus hannai were reared for 90 days in the laboratory. Attachment of plastic piece by Alteco was used as tag material. The growth, mortality and falling rate of tags were examined. Data from stock in natural condition showed that fishing rate, fishing mortality and natural mortality of tagged group were 0.04, 0.0195 and 0.4652, respectively.

The food habits and health complaints were studied for 459 persons, 60 years and over, in the rural area, JKurye-Gun Chonnam, from April 28 to May 1, 1986. by the questionnaire sheets ; one was for the food habits, and the other was for health complaints(the standarized questionnair designed in Todai Health Index). The results obtained were as follows. 1) Mean score of the food habit was 11.2$\pm$3.5 in male and 10.8$\pm$2.9 in female. The score in both sexes showed a falling tendency as their ages increased. 2) THI scores in surfferings eye & skin, mouth & anus were higher (p<0.01, p<0.05, p<0.01) in female than in male. As age increased, the THI score showed a rising tendency. In case of male, THI socre in digestive organs was higher (p<0.05) in sixties than in other age. 3) The rate of living together with their family or spouse in the male aged was 77% higher than in the female aged. whilte the rate of celibacy in the female aged was 28%, higher than 3% in the male aged. DMF value was higher in female than male. The amount of alcohol ingestion were 2.1 and 0.6 Cup in male and female, respectively and the amount of smoking were 10.5 and 3.1 cigarettes in male and female respectively. Both alcohol intake and smoking were higher in male(p<0.01) 4) In case of male, the correlation coefficient between the score of food habit and THI score was negative in suffering eye & skin, mouth & anus, respectively, and in female it was negative in digestive, mouth & anus. As the score of food habit become low, the THI score become high. 5) Those living alone in both sexes showed a low score in food habit.

The ACL(Anterior cruciate ligament) is the smallest of the four main ligaments of the knee, but it is the primary stabilizer. Injuries have a tendency to occur when the foot is firmly planted and the knee is twisted. Any sports that requires acceleration, change of direction and deceleration can increase the chances of suffering an ACL tear. The incidence of severe knee sprains that involve the ACL are at an all-time high. Since 1980, the number of these injuries have increased at least three-fold. Although the rate of increase has been much less dramatic since the middle 1980s, even the ultra-modem releasable ski binding has not been able to start reducing the incidence of ACL injuries. An ACL injury prevention program developed for downhill skiers by the Vermont Safety Research group emphasized increasing awareness of situations that can potentially result in an ACL injury and pre-planning strategies if events, leading to these situations, begin to fall in place. As part of the above study by Ettlinger et al., an educational prevent program was developed to teach these principles and thus reduce the rate of serious knee injuries. Four thousand instructors and patrol at 20 ski resorts who received the training had a 62% decline in serious knee injuries compared to a similar group that did not receive this training. Whenever you fall, try not to fully straighten your legs. Don't try to get up until you've stopped sliding(unless you are try to avoid an obstacle or other skier). When you're down, stay down. And don't land on your hand. So, if you feel yourself falling: arms forward, ski plates together, hands over knee. Then you will be able to save your ACL.

A closed solar collector drying system by water exchange was evaluated for the drying of ginseng. The thermal efficiency of solar collector, drying efficiency, drying characteristics and product quality were investigated. The drying period was reduced by one-thirds in comparison with typical method. The maximum and minimum thermal efficiency of the solar collector during drying period were 14.42%, and 4.73%, respectively. The drying efficiency of solar collector and control system showed 28.34%, and 13.45%, respectively; net drying efficiency being 14.8%. The drying rate curve of red ginseng showed only falling rate period, and its equation was $Y=50.7023t.^{-0.4138}$ The brown color intensity of red ginseng was higher in solar collector drying system than in typical method, and reductivity by diphenyl picryl hydrazil solution in red ginseng extract showed similar result to brown color intensity.

The groundwater movement in the west costal landfill area was analyzed by measuring N value by Standard Penetration Test, coefficient of permeability by falling head method, linear structure analysis by Digital Elevation Method, groundwater flow direction and rate by flowmeter logging due to tidal variation in the each borehole. The coefficients of permeability of the weathered zone and of the marine deposit showed similar values although some values of weathered zone show smaller values than those of the marine deposit. The major groundwater flow and rate in the marine deposit observed as east-west direction due to tidal variation, but on the other hand it was observed as N45E in weathered zone which is the major direction of the linear structures in the area. 2 hours delayed changes of the groundwater flow direction was observed during the 24 hours observation, and it seems to be a travel time of the tidal wave which cause the continuous change of the hydaulic gradient of the groundwater.

North American ginseng seedlings (Panax quinquefolius L.) were grown in pots in heated greenhouses, in a cool greenhouse, or in the field, in 11 experiments at various times over 16 years. Crop establishment, dry matter partitioning, photosynthesis, radiation use efficiency and carbon budget were measured and/or calculated in some years. Once the seedling canopy, of about $20\;cm^2$ per seedling, and a leaf area index of 0.37, was established, about 40 days after germination, full canopy display lasted about 87 days. Only 16.6% of the incoming solar radiation was intercepted by the crop, the remainder falling on the mulched soil surface. Total and root dry matter accumulations in the cool greenhouse and in the field were about double that in the heated greenhouses. Partitioning of dry matter to roots (economic yield or harvest index) in the cool greenhouse and in the field was 73% whereas it was 62.5% in the heated greenhouses. The relationship between root dry matter and radiation interception during the full canopy period was linear with growth efficiencies of $2.92\;mg\;MJ^{-1}$ at 4.8% of incoming radiation and $0.30\;mg\;MJ^{-1}$ at 68% of incoming radiation. A photosynthetic rate of $0.39\;g\;m^{-2}\;h^{-1}$ was attained at light saturation of about $150\;{\mu}mol\;m^{-2}\;s^{-1}$ (7.5% of full sunlight); dark respiration was $0.03\;g\;m^{-2}\;h^{-1}$, about 8.5% of maximum assimilation rate. Estimates of dry matter accumulation by growth analysis and by $CO_2$ uptake were similar, 6.21 vs. 7.62 mg $CO_2$, despite several assumptions in $CO_2$ uptake calculations.

The department has established a variety of studies and training courses and has tried to nurture talented people for security companies. However, the research is marginal, and each university department of security guard education, curriculum falling due after graduating students. Moreover, even if students are occupied an employment exceptional adaptability has occurred. Therefore, each university of private security department will need to collaborate with competitive private security company for reinforce and employment rate in center of experienced field. Then, the security's society will be placed in professional occupation, elevate the phase and will decrease the turnover rate. Qualification system of private security have been indicated in distrust, moreover the system have to be adjusted because not enough effort, control system, cooperation system with training center, one-sided emphasis and private inquiry by adding in private security law.
