In this paper, fault tolerant algorithm is presented for a servo manipulator system. For fault tolerance of a servo manipulator system, reconfiguration algorithm accommodating a motor's failure has been presented. The algorithm considers a transport's degree of freedoms as redundant joints of a servo manipulator. The reconfiguration algorithm recovers the end effector's motion in spite of one motor's failure A modified pseudo inverse redistribution method has been proposed for the reconfiguration algorithm. Numerical examples and hardware tests have been presented to verify the proposed methods.

As the development of service marketing, research on service failure has gained more and more attention. This research aims to explore factors influencing the service failure severity perception, focus on consumers' internal propensity, ZOT(zone of tolerance) about service and comparison with other consumers in service failure situation. According to study results, it revealed that past experience satisfaction has negative effect on the zone of tolerance about service failure. Company image also has negative effect on the ZOT about service failure. While service importance has negative effect on the ZOT about service failure, it has positive effect on the perceive service failure severity. The ZOT about service failure has negative effect on perceived serviced failure severity. In contrast, social comparison perception level has no effect on perceived service failure severity, and negative affectivity also has no effect on that. In Conclusion, five hypothesis are accepted among seven hypothesis. This study gives important point to researchers and service providers in the service industry. For researchers, the result will be helpful them to further develop service failure and recovery framework. For service providers, the results will suggest specific guidelines for recovering the service failure. They can place emphasis on the serious point, so they can get a effective performance from the recovery strategy.

In this paper, we analyze the fault diameter and fault tolerance of Gray cube proposed recently in [12]. fault diameter of an interconnection network is one of the important network measures concerning the distance between nodes when some nodes fail. It is showed that fault diameter of n-dimensional Gray cube having $2^n$ nodes is [(n+1)/2]+2, ($n{\ge}3$). It means the increment of the longest distance between nodes under node-failure is only constant factor. Comparing the result with the fault diameter of well-known hypercube, the longest routing distance of a message in a Gray cube under node-failure is about the half of that hypercube.
As more and more critical commercial applications move on the Internet, providing highly available servers becomes increasingly important. One of the advantages of a clustered system is that it has hardware and software redundancy. High availability can be provided by detecting node or daemon failure and reconfiguring the system appropriately so that the workload can be taken over bi the remaining nodes in the cluster. This paper presents how to provide the guaranteeing high availability of clustering web server. The load balancer becomes a single failure point of the whole system. In order to prevent the failure of the load balancer, we setup a backup server using heartbeat, fake, mon, and checkpointing fault-tolerance method. For high availability of file servers in the cluster, we setup coda file system. Coda is a advanced network fault-tolerance distributed file system.

Fault-tolerance is an important design criterion for robotic systems operating in hazardous or remote environments. This paper addresses the issue of tolerating a locked joint failure in gait planning for hexapod walking machines which have symmetric structures and legs in the form of an articulated arm with three revolute joints. A locked joint failure is one for which a joint cannot move and is locked in place. If a failed joint is locked, the workspace of the resulting leg is constrained, but hexapod walking machines have the ability to continue static walking. A strategy of fault-tolerant tripod gait is proposed and, as a specific form, a periodic tripod gait is presented in which hexapod walking machines have the maximum stride length after a locked failure. The adjustment procedure from a normal gait to the proposed fault-tolerant gait is shown to demonstrate the applicability of the proposed scheme.
Self/non-self discrimination and unresponsiveness to self is the fundamental properties of the immune system. Self-tolerance is a state in which the individual is incapable of developing an immune response to an individual's own antigens and it underlies the ability to remain tolerant of individual's own tissue components. Several mechanisms have been postulated to explain the tolerant state. They can be broadly classified into two groups: central tolerance and peripheral tolerance. Several mechanisms exist, some of which are shared between T cells and B cells. In central tolerance, the recognition of self-antigen by lymphocytes in bone marrow or thymus during development is required, resulting in receptor editing (revision), clonal deletion, anergy or generation of regulatory T cells. Not all self-reactive B or T cells are centrally purged from the repertoire. Additional mechanisms of peripheral tolerance are required, such as anergy, suppression, deletion or clonal ignorance. Tolerance is antigen specific. Generating and maintaining the self-tolerance for T cells and B cells are complex. Failure of self-tolerance results in immune responses against self-antigens. Such reactions are called autoimmunity and may give rise to autoimmune diseases. Development of autoimmune disease is affected by properties of the genes of the individual and the environment, both infectious and non-infectious. The host's genes affect its susceptibility to autoimmunity and the environmental factors promote the activation of self-reactive lymphocytes, developing the autoimmunity. The changes in participating antigens (epitope spreading), cells, cytokines or other inflammatory mediators contribute to the progress from initial activation to a chronic state of autoimmune diseases.

A redundant control scheme which can maintain its tracking capability in the case of a controller failure is proposed for the industrial applications which need high reliability with fault-tolerance. It consists of two identical controllers and a switching mechanism which includes failure detection and reconfiguration algorithm. The new detection method against controller failure using fuzzy logic enables the detection of controller failures without failure assumptions through the instability of the failed controller. The failed controller is smoothly removed from the control loop by reducing time weight of the failed controller.
A rapid growth of internet and sudden increase of multimedia data demands for high-speed transfer media and if optimizec usage from the interface system. To achieve this level of network bandwidth, multiple NICs for support of high-speed network bandwidth have been developed and studied. Furthermore, the use of multiple NICs can provide high-speed LAN environment without large network environment modification, supports backward compatibility of current system and reduce overhead. However. if system failure is caused by SPOF(Single Point of Failure) fault of large-capacity multiple NICs, incredible loss will be met because it services large capacity of multimedia data, Therefore, to prevent loss coming from faults, we describe 'Fault tolerance of multiple NICs', which use the fault prevention mechanism. Considering inefficiency of availability and serviceability that is occurred with existing TMR, Primary-Standby approach and Watchdog time mechanism, we propose and design the efficient fault tolerance mechanism, which minimize down time as changing of detection period dynamically. Consequently, the fault tolerance mechanism proposed for reducing overhead time when the fault is occurred, should minimize system downtime overall.

With the growth of the massive amount of data, the failure probability of the cloud storage node is becoming more and more big. A single fault tolerance strategy, such as replication and erasure codes, has some unavoidable disadvantages, which can not meet the needs of the today's fault tolerance. Therefore, according to the file access frequency and size, an adaptive hybrid redundant fault tolerance strategy is proposed, which can dynamically change between the replication scheme and erasure codes scheme throughout the lifecycle. The experimental results show that the proposed scheme can not only save the storage space(reduced by 32% compared with replication), but also ensure the fast recovery of the node failures(increased by 42% compared with erasure codes).
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between children's Temperamental Effortful Control and adolescents' Academic failure tolerance(AFT). Specifically, Grit effect as a mediator between Effortful Control and AFT was also determined. A total of 108 children participated as they were at age 8, and as they turned 14 years old. Children Behavior Questionnaire (CBQ) was measured to investigate children's Effortful Control, and Grit scale and AFT scale were measured to investigate adolescents' Grit and their response to failure. The results of this study showed that children's Effortful Control was significantly related to AFT. And adolescents' Grit was also positively related to adolescents' AFT. In addition, Effortful Control was related to Grit. Finally, Grit partly mediated the relationship between Effortful Control and AFT.
