  • The purpose of this study is to compare and derive the importance of motivating factors for start-up when deciding to start a business in the logistics and trading industries, and to compare, derive, and identify which motivating factors have an important influence on the start-up decision. In this study, 4 high-level factors such as career factors, policy/institutional factors, environmental factors, and economic factors and 12 low-level factors were derived from those four factors. Based on this, a questionnaire was distributed to established and prospective entrepreneurs, and the results were analyzed using the AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) technique. Manufacturing companies recognized the individual's capabilities and government support for them as important. Beside, service companies recognized the industrial environment that could generate economic benefits as important. Although there are differences in perception by group, it can be seen that factors that are recognized as important within each group have connectivity and show the same directivity.

  • This research empirically investigated the influence factors on the adoption of environmental management systems (EMS) in Korean manufacturing firms. In this study, the external factors (cause factors), the internal factors (facilitating factors) and the firm specific characteristics were integrally considered. In the factor analysis, the third item (regional society) of the external factors and the first item (environmental law) of government regulation were confounded with the items of the other factors. Thus, the confounded items were removed. In the second factor analysis, no items were replicated. The results of a multiple regression analysis showed that the influence factors such as government regulation, normative pressure, top management support, environmental strategy and employees' recognition, and ratio of large shareholders have a significant impact on the construction of EMS. However, the effects of the other firm specific characteristics were not statistically significant. We also examined whether both the number of environmental personnel and the allocation of environmental resources, which are directly related with the adoption of EMS, have a moderating impact on the relationships between other internal factors and the construction of EMS. With a subgroup analysis, the moderating roles of the number of environmental personnel were empirically confirmed. Through a multiple regression analysis, the direct effects of the external factors on the adoption or construction of the internal factors were demonstrated. The effects of government regulation, normative pressure and imitative pressure on the internal factors were significant and positive. Finally, in this study, the fact that the adoption of EMS can improve the environmental performance of a firm was also empirically found.

  • Colostrum has lots of bioactive components and many growth factors including insulin-like growth factors, transforming growth factors and epidermal growth factor. Colostrum and milk derived growth factors widely mediate the growth of overall development and could be used as treatment of gastrointestinal disorder, wound repair process, bioacrivity in the neonatal GI tract and induction of oral tolerance. It is possible that milk derived growth factors as potential neutraceuticals for the specific consumers may have a great role in future food industry.

  • Autism and autistic spectrum disorder are chronic neuro-developmental disorders characterized by social and language impairments and stereotyped, repetitive patterns of behavior. The etiology of autism remains unknown; however, a strong genetic component has been detected and environmental factors may also be involved in their etiologies. In the current study, we reviewed evidence for the presence of prenatal and perinatal factors, gastrointestinal factors, food allergies, metabolic and heavy metal factors, and other nutritional factors that may represent risk factors for the development of autism and autistic spectrum disorder.

  • The economic effects of informatization are differently occurred according to industry types. Thus an evaluation methodology which reflects the industry type characteristics of informatization is needed. In this paper, we develop and analyze the indices for evaluating economic effects through informatization according to industry types, such as manufacturing, construction, financial services and marketing services. The factors related to performance of enterprise informatization can be defined as cost factors, effect factors, risk factors and influence factors. Effect factors are defined as quantitative or qualitative performance of informatization and classified into operational effect factors and strategic effect factors. The influence factor is defined as characteristics of informatization for industry types, that is, value chain of business and business products or services. Economic effect indices are classified according to the activity of business value chain. Economic effects indices of this research can be expected to play a role of general and standardized factors for economic evaluation of industry informatization.
