Consumers's Distrust for Discounting Claims and Purchase Intention for Apparel Products (의류 제품의 할인판매에 대한 소비자의 불신과 구매의도에 관한 연구)

  • This study investigated the factors that influence consumers' distrust and consumers purchase intention for discounting, specifically discounting of clothes. Through literature, discounting rate, retailer type and brand reputation were identified as influencing factors and were tested. A 2$\times$2$\times$3 factorial design was used to test the effect of each factor on consumers' distrust and consumers' purchase intention for jean products. Retailer type was manipulated as high and low, brand reputation as well-known and less-known, and discount rates 10, 30 and 60%. An convenience sample of 165 female undergraduate students participated in the study. The data were analyzed using SPSS/PC+ The results showed that consumers did distrust discounting claims and consumers' distrust of the claims was greater for less-known brand. In addition, no significant effect of retailor type was found. Further effort is needed to generalize the result to different product categories.

  • A design of experiments was applied in order to investigate the effect of processing variables in UV irradiation on the electrical/optical properties in indium-zinc oxide thin films, The processing variables, equivalently input variables are listed as UV irradiation time, oxygen flow rate, and chamber pressure. The statistical significance of Ultra Violet (UV) treatment was confirmed using a paired-t test. The full factorial $2^3$ design was employed to determine significant main and interaction effects in UV irradiation process. The chamber pressure and the interaction between UV irradiation time and $O_2$ flow rate were found to be statistically significant at the significance level of 0.1. Furthermore, the optimized approach was proposed in achieving the improved conductivity after UV irradiation.

  • Ultrafine powders(UFPs) of aluminum nitride(AlN) have been synthesized by chemical reactions in the nitrogen atmosphere and the gaseous aluminum evaporated from Al powders in thermal plasmas produced by a DC plasma torch. A synthesis system consisting of a plasma torch, a finely-controllable powder feeder, a reaction chamber, and a quenching-collection chamber have been designed and manufactured, and a filter for gathering AlN UFPs produced by the quenching process subsequent to the synthesis is set up. The synthesis process is interpreted by numerical analyses of the plasma-particle interaction and the chemical equilibrium state, respectively, and a fully-saturated fractional factorial test is used to find the optimum process conditions. The degrees and ultrafineness of synthesis are evaluated by means of SEM, TEM, XRD, and ESCA analyses. AlN UFPs synthesized in the optimum process conditions have polygonal shapes of the size of 5-100 nm, and their purities differ depending on collecting positions and filter types, and the maximum purity obtained is 72 wt% at the filter.

  • This study was carried out on the energy expenditure and physical capacity of 504 persons from 17 occupations. The energy expenditure was measured by indirect calorimetry using a Douglas' bag and Scholander's gas analyser. The physical capacity was determined by the Harvard's step test and the maximum oxygen consumption using a treadmill. The assessment of the daily energy expenditure for each subject was made by the factorial method using a record of the activies throughout 24 hours of every survey day. The total daily energy expenditure is the sum of all energy expenditure. This was calculated by multiplying the caloric value of the metabolic rate by the time spent on each activity. Most of the occupations involved moderate or heavy work.

  • Dissolution of mucosal adhesive tablets prepared with two polymers using hydroxypropylcellulose-H (HPC) and carbopol 934 (CP) was tested. Adhesive tablets containing HPC/CP and brilliant blue FCF (BB) were prepared from direct compression. Three factors of polymer ratio (HPC:CP), BB content and compression force were chosen as important factors of preparation and factorial analysis for these factors was carried out. Eight kinds of formulations from different combinations of three factors were prepared and dissolution test in pH 6.8 phosphate buffer solution was performed. Dissolution rate was significantly affected by HPC:CP ratio and BB content, but was not affected by compression force.

  • The purposes of this study were to investigate the factors of CRM activity and the difference in CRM activities of department stores and to analyze the effect of CRM activities on customer satisfaction and loyalty. Investigators interviewed the buyers of three department stores in Daejeon area and surveyed 468 people aged over 20 who did shopping those stores. The data were analyzed with factorial analysis, multiple regression analysis, path analysis, ANOVA, Scheffe Test, etc., using the SPSS 10.0. The results of this study were: 1) Six factors were identified: 'benefit & information', 'service', 'customer invitation', 'customer contact', 'special management', and 'purchase-related help'; 2) CRM activities of three department stores were different, and department store buyers and customers were different in perception on CRM activities; and 3) Customer satisfaction was affected by the CRM factors like 'service', 'customer invitation', 'purchase-related help', 'benefit & information', and 'customer contact' Customer loyalty were affected directly by customer satisfaction, 'benefit & information' and 'service', and indirectly by 'customer invitation', 'purchase-related help', 'customer contact' through customer satisfaction.

  • Blind source separation by independent component analysis (ICA) has applied in signal processing, telecommunication, and image processing to recover unknown original source signals from mutually independent observation signals. Neural networks are learned to estimate the original signals by unsupervised learning algorithm. Because the outputs of the neural networks which yield original source signals are mutually independent, then mutual information is zero. This is equivalent to minimizing the Kullback-Leibler convergence between probability density function and the corresponding factorial distribution of the output in neural networks. In this paper, we present a learning algorithm using information theory and higher order statistics to solve problem of blind source separation. For computer simulation two deterministic signals and a Gaussian noise are used as original source signals. We also test the proposed algorithm by applying it to several discrete images.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of female applicant's facial attractiveness and feminine-masculine clothing image on job performance evaluation and hiring decision. The research design of study consisted of 3(facial attractiveness high, middle, low)${\times}$2(feminine and masculine clothing image) factorial design. The subject consisted of 243 persons whose occupation were mid-sized companies' administrator in Gwangju and Seoul City. The data were analyzed by factor analysis, Duncan test, ANOVA, t-test. The results of this study were as follows. First, three factors emerged to account for the job performance evaluation. These factors were given the titles of task performance, cooperation and self-management factors. Second, applicant's facial attractiveness exerted significant positive effect on self-management and significant negative effect on cooperation. Third, applicant's facial attractiveness exerted significant effect on hiring decision. Finally, the interaction effect of female applicant's facial attractiveness and feminine-masculine clothing image on job performance evaluation and hiring decision were not significant.

A Study on e-WOM and Satisfaction of Chinese Online Fashion Product Shoppers in Their 20s (중국 패션상품 소비자들의 인터넷구전과 만족도에 대한 연구)

  • This study examined the e-WOM acception and transmission motive of Chinese online fashion product shoppers in their 20s and analyzed the effect of acception and transmission motive factors on acception and transmission behavior. This study investigated the effect of acception and transmission behaviors on purchase satisfaction. Analysis was conducted with data collected from 373 Chinese individuals in their 20s. Data were analyzed with factorial analysis, ANOVA, multiple regression analysis, chi-square test, paired t-test, and Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ using SPSS 18.0. The results were: 1. The factor analysis of e-WOM acception motive extracted two factors: risk reduction and confidence. The factor analysis of e-WOM transmission motive extracted three factors: Compensation/pleasure, advice, and emotion expression. 2. The two motives of e-WOM acception affected acception behavior. Confidence motive affected acception behavior more than risk reduction motive. The three motives of e-WOM transmission motives affected transmission behavior. Transmission behavior affected by advice, compensation/pleasure, and emotion expression in order of significance. 3. e-WOM acceptance behavior affected purchase satisfaction more than transmission behavior.

Relationships between Personality and Interior Environmental Disposition-Focused on Interior Image Preference Computer Simulation- (인성과 실내환경적 성향과의 관련성에 관한 연구-컴퓨터 모의실험을 이용한 실내이미지 선호연구-)

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the relationships between personality and interior environmental disposition, such as disposition toward traditional/modern, feminine/ masculine and simple/complex characteristics. Korean Testing Center's standardized test which measures activity, emotional stability, dominance, reflectiveness, sociability, autonomy, and achievement was used to measure personality. The three key disposition variables were measured using a visual instrument which was developed in this study. To create images, 3$\times$2$\times$2 factorial composition producing 12 types of images was used. Four set of images were developed to measure each categories of each dispositional characteristic controlling other systematic variables and extraneous variables effects. Thereby total 48 visual images were simulated. The subjects were 107 students. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, chi-square. test and pearson's correlation coefficients. Major findings were as follows; 1)Disposition toward oriental tradition were more likely appeared in higher emotional stability personality 2) Disposition toward tradition were more likely to be dominated than one toward modern in case of higher autonomy personality.
