Effect SCM Capacity Factor of Small and Medium-Sized Supplier on Operational Performance: Focused on Moderating Effect of Demand Uncertainty (중소 공급업체의 SCM역량요인이 운영성과에 미치는 영향: 수요불확실성의 조절효과를 중심으로)

  • This study analyzed both the effect small and medium-sized suppliers' SCM capacity on the performance and how the moderating effect of demand uncertainty as an environmental factor affects this relation. The study is based on the data collected from the survey of small and medium-sized suppliers operating in electronics, metal, machinery, automobile, and textile. It analyzed the results of survey targeting suppliers of these areas by using structure equation modeling. According to the analyzed result, the relation capital of small and medium-sized supplier affects the performance, but there is no relation between coordination capability and the performance. In case of the moderating effect of demand uncertainty, while there is a positive moderating effect of demand uncertainty between relation capital and performance, there is no any moderating effect between coordination capability and performance. It turns out that the relation capital keep having a positive effect on the performance even if there is a demand uncertainty.

  • The housing market is divided into several sub-markets that operate independently. One of them is the distinction between rental and sales markets. Simultaneously, since the housing is a commodity as well as an asset, it has a close relationship between the rental market and the sales market. Due to the unique structure of Korea, it is difficult to apply the general method to analyze the housing market. This means there is a great deal of concern about side effects from the policy. Actually, the government's subsequent regulation of speculative demand in the future may be necessary to prevent market overheating, but at the same time, there is a fear that the rent will rise. Although changes in policy direction may be inevitable due to changes in market conditions, frequent and sudden changes in policy cause confusion in market participants, causing unrest in the housing market. This study aims to derive main factors and correlation with other housing market factor. These factors will be a base of qualitative housing market model to analyze the market effect of the demand-supply shift. Modeling is based on the system dynamics methodology, which is useful for identifying interactions between variables reflecting various variables in the housing market. The model discussed in this study is expected to provide integrated insight into the key variables of the housing market, away from the monopolistic thinking. It can also be useful as a means of assessing the effectiveness of policies.

  • Recently, lots of research are going on relation to Improving the Flexibility through all of construction I industry in that space, materials, structure, construction method, etc. The style , space and pattern of housing have been changing by reason that satisfying change of residential environment at the needs of the times, transformation of future-oriented construction trend and recognition of demand-oriented. Therefore, this study should suggest alternations through comparing and analyzing to construction factor of improving the Flexibility, and then should show direction and guideline for realizing actual a long life housing at the next generation through applicable and various classification examples in apartment housing.

Safety Evaluation of a Cylinder Valve for Compressed Natural Gas Vehicle Pressure Vessels using Fluid-structure Interaction Analysis (연성해석을 이용한 CNG 차량 압력 용기용 밸브의 안전성 평가)

  • Growing concerns about environmental pollution have led to an increase in the demand for compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles in recent years. CNG vehicles are equipped with a cylinder valve installed in a high-pressure vessel to control the CNG flow. The cylinder valve must meet high quality safety standards because the pressure vessel stores high-pressure CNG. Therefore, safety evaluation of the cylinder valve is necessary to ensure the safety of CNG vehicles. In this study, fluid-structure interaction analysis for the structural integrity of the cylinder valve were conducted using a commercial finite element analysis code(ANSYS WORKBENCH V14). The CFD analysis was performed using a steady-state technique according to the inlet and outlet pressures in order to predict the pressure distribution. Structural analysis was performed by a static structure technique at the maximum working pressure to evaluate the structural integrity of the cylinder valve. From the results, the safety factor of the valve component is between 1.57 and 21.5.

  • CEPA(Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, hereinafter CEPA) between India and Korea may influence some changes on Korean pharmaceutical industry which shows less competitive advantages than Indian industry in many regards. So the purpose of this paper remains on suggesting the way of enhancing international competitiveness for Korean industry on the basis of double diamond model. Through the comprehensive and deep analysis, our findings on recommendable business strategies for Korea are as follows ; in terms of factor conditions, first, cooperative strategy in R&D for developing generics will be required. Second, Introduction of CMO business can be considered. In terms of demand condition, Korean firms should find out the chance for demand creation in Indian market which has future market potential and American market exploration, as soon as possible. With regards to strategy, structure and competition, trying M&A with leading Indian companies and utilizing well organized medical professionals in India will be considered. In the points of related and supportive parts, lastly, Korean government should try to make so called "National Strategic R&D committee" for pharmaceuticals and bring u-healthcare service to Korea in the first place. If Korean pharmaceutical industry implement above-mentioned strategies, CEPA can be turned into business opportunities from the crisis. As a result, Korean firms shall have more powerful global competitiveness eventually.

Ductility-based design approach of tall buildings under wind loads

  • The wind design of buildings is typically based on strength provisions under ultimate loads. This is unlike the ductility-based approach used in seismic design, which allows inelastic actions to take place in the structure under extreme seismic events. This research investigates the application of a similar concept in wind engineering. In seismic design, the elastic forces resulting from an extreme event of high return period are reduced by a load reduction factor chosen by the designer and accordingly a certain ductility capacity needs to be achieved by the structure. Two reasons have triggered the investigation of this ductility-based concept under wind loads. Firstly, there is a trend in the design codes to increase the return period used in wind design approaching the large return period used in seismic design. Secondly, the structure always possesses a certain level of ductility that the wind design does not benefit from. Many technical issues arise when applying a ductility-based approach under wind loads. The use of reduced design loads will lead to the design of a more flexible structure with larger natural periods. While this might be beneficial for seismic response, it is not necessarily the case for the wind response, where increasing the flexibility is expected to increase the fluctuating response. This particular issue is examined by considering a case study of a sixty-five-story high-rise building previously tested at the Boundary Layer Wind Tunnel Laboratory at the University of Western Ontario using a pressure model. A three-dimensional finite element model is developed for the building. The wind pressures from the tested rigid model are applied to the finite element model and a time history dynamic analysis is conducted. The time history variation of the straining actions on various structure elements of the building are evaluated and decomposed into mean, background and fluctuating components. A reduction factor is applied to the fluctuating components and a modified time history response of the straining actions is calculated. The building components are redesigned under this set of reduced straining actions and its fundamental period is then evaluated. A new set of loads is calculated based on the modified period and is compared to the set of loads associated with the original structure. This is followed by non-linear static pushover analysis conducted individually on each shear wall module after redesigning these walls. The ductility demand of shear walls with reduced cross sections is assessed to justify the application of the load reduction factor "R".

Study on seismic performance of connection joint between prefabricated prestressed concrete beams and high strength reinforcement-confined concrete columns

  • As the common cast-in-place construction works fails to meet the enormous construction demand under rapid economic growth, the development of prefabricated structure instead becomes increasingly promising in China. For the prefabricated structure, its load carrying connection joint play a key role in maintaining the structural integrity. Therefore, a novel end plate bolt connecting joint between fully prefabricated pre-stressed concrete beam and high-strength reinforcement-confined concrete column was proposed. Under action of low cycle repeated horizontal loadings, comparative tests are conducted on 6 prefabricated pre-stressed intermediate joint specimens and 1 cast-in-place joint specimen to obtain the specimen failure modes, hysteresis curves, skeleton curves, ductility factor, stiffness degradation and energy dissipation capacity and other seismic indicators, and the seismic characteristics of the new-type prefabricated beam-column connecting joint are determined. The test results show that all the specimens for end plate bolt connecting joint between fully prefabricated pre-stressed concrete beam and high-strength reinforcement-confined concrete column have realized the design objectives of strong column weak beam. The hysteretic curves for specimens are good, indicating desirable ductility and energy dissipation capacity and seismic performances, and the research results provide theoretical basis and technical support for the promotion and application of prefabricated assembly frames in the earthquake zone.

  • What is the national competitive power\ulcorner What are the determinants of national competitive advantage\ulcorner In order to find these problems, this study was initiated theoretically through the international trade theory and international managerial strategic theory. The flow of studies, in connection with these competitive advantage, come into industries competitive advantage from national competitive advantage. It is understood that the flow of studies is based on the change of paradigm about the international industry environment. Today, the international industry environment has been changed into vigorous situation with the new trade system such as globalization, UR negotiation, WTO system instead of GATT. Among these environments, all enterprises in any industries should try to enhance their benefit, income profits and develop their management strategy, because it is essential for them to keep and make a profit in order to be competitive against all other rivaling enterprises. According to researchers and the ages of history, the concept and determinants of competitive advantage have been dissimiliar as followings. 1) Theory of absolute advantage : Absolute Product Cost. 2) Theory of comparative advantage : Comparative Product Cost. 3) Theory of reciprocal demand : the Reciprocal Demand Structure. 4) Theory of Hechsher-Ohlin : Factor Endowment. 5) Paradox of Leontief : the Quality of Factor Endowment. 6) Theory of technological gap : R & D. 7) Technological gap model : The Technological Gap. 8) Theory of the product life cycle : Product Life Cycle. 9) Christensen's study : Firm's character & manager's character. 10) Monopolistic Advantage Theories : Monopolistic Advantage 11) Electic theory : Ownership, location and internalization specific advantages. 12) Theory of value chain : Cost advantage, Differentiation, Focus. However all these theories have the limit of illustration regarding today's competitive situation, the Porter's theory shows well the determinants of competitive advantage with competitive strategy. Seismic Evaluation of Steel Moment Frame Buildings based on Different Response Modification Factors and Fundamental Periods (반응수정계수와 주기의 영향에 대한 철골모멘트저항골조 건물의 내진성능평가)

  • This study was performed to evaluate the effect of Response modification factors (R-factor) in 3-, 9- and 20- story steel Moment Resisting Frame (MRF) buildings. Each structure was designed using a R-factor of 8, as tabulated in the 2000 International Building Code provision (IBC 2000) and Korea Building Code (KBC) 2008. In order to evaluate the maximum and minimum performance expected for such structures, an upper bound and lower bound design were adopted for each model. Next, each analytical model was designed using different R-factors (8, 9, 10, 11, 12) and four different structural periods with the original fundamental period. For a detailed case study, a total of 150 analytical models were subjected to 20 ground motions representing a hazard level with a 2% probability of being exceeded in 50 years. In order to evaluate the performance of the structures, static push-over and non-linear time history analysis (NTHA) were performed, and displacement ductility demand was investigated to consider the ductility capacity of the structures. The results show that the dynamic behaviors for the 3- and 9-story buildings are relatively stable and conservative, while the 20-story buildings show a large displacement ductility demand due to dynamic instability factors. (e.g. P-delta effect and high mode effect)

Analysis on the Car Ownership Structure Considering Household Car Ownership Pattern (가구별 차량보유패턴을 고려한 차량 보유구조 분석)

  • The goal of this study is to be used as baseline data for transportation demand management. At the present time the number of registered car and householding car is increasing, so there is a need to analyze the car ownership pattern through household car hold status. Also, it is necessary to analyze the factor of increasing car. The research is proceeded with classifying as the household which is holding private cars or holding passenger cars and non passenger cars based on the result of the research of the household travel survey data. The result of this study is shown as follows. According to car ownership pattern, there are more households holding passenger cars only when they are holding less than 2 cars. Otherwise there are more households holding passenger car and non passenger car when they are holding more than 3 cars. Using the Ordered Logit Model, there are more differences in factors affects holding cars by variables of housing type and household properties.
