  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to understand the life of newly appointed professors of nursing by exploring the meaning and essence of their academic work and life experience. Methods: The participants consisted of 11 newly appointed female full-time professors with less than five years of experience who had been purposely sampled from three or four-year nursing colleges. Data were collected from October 2010 to December 2011 through the face-to-face interview and phone interview. Thematic analysis was conducted using hermeneutic phenomenological methodology. Results: The findings were classified into seven themes: 'Starting feeling hope and delight', 'putting sustained energy into lecturing and training', 'struggling in the tense atmosphere where assessments are often conducted', 'gaining courage in an associated relationship network', 'experiencing confusion of the identity as a professor', 'seeking compromise, handling their work and housework', and 'shedding new light on reality with self-awareness'. Conclusion: This study is significant in that it offered the foundation for the creation of human resources networks and mentoring programs that help newly appointed professors to effectively adjust to university society on the basis of the sympathetic understanding of and support for their life.

The phenomenological method developed by Giorgi was used for this study. The participants were 7 students who had experienced BLS-Provider Certification Course. The data were collected between February, 2013 and May, 2013 by face to face interview. The interview was recorded and then transcribed. Results. The constituents associated with the meaning of the Nursing students's experiences on BLS-Provider Certification Course were as followings 'To obtain the information', 'Complicated preparation process', 'Unfamiliar education', 'Fear on the BLS ', 'Satisfaction after getting of BLS-Provider Certification ' Conclusions. The result of this study may contribute to a deeper understanding of the meaning of the BLS-Provider Certification Course experienced by nursing students. The highlights of this study are that, although the students had much inconvenience on the preparation process of BLS-P and fear on the BLS-Provider Certification Course, they were satisfied much after getting the BLS-Provider Certificate. It can give the better quality of BLS-Provider Certification Course if these results are provided in the program.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore the re-employment process of inactivated nurses returning to the nursing field and to develop a grounded theory about their re-employment experiences. Methods: Data was collected through a face-to-face interview and telephone interviews from 10 nurses. The ground theory methodology of Strauss and Corbin (1998) was used for theoretical sampling in accordance with their unemployment period and reason for leaving prior to reemployment; whereas works of data collection and analysis were performed concurrently. Results: The core category was discovered to be 'identifying a career path by striking a balance between the practical and the ideal'. This series of processes was categorized into five stages: 'trying to get a job again', 'tolerating difficulties as a beginner', 'trying their best to remain a nurse', 'trying to get another job', and 'staying in the profession till the end'. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest an understanding and profound insight on the issue of a nursing shortage.

  • This study is to measure and evaluate the sensibility image for textile color and pattern design of woman's golfwear. Four-group colors and four patterns classified by a pracical survey on the market are presented. A questionnaire has 14 sensibility related words scaled by 7 point semantic differential method. The practical research is performed for 150 women screened by sensibility test for individual preference analysis based on the ages. Each subject is answered by a face-to-face interview method to improve survey's accuracy. For statistical results there are significant differences in treatment means of sensibility measurements according to the ages. Sensibility image for textile color and pattern design is significantly different according to individual character based on ages. In summary, this paper has proposed the sensibility image scale for textile color and pattern design of women's golfwears to satisfy individual sensibility according to ages. The results of this study can be effectively applied to develop textile color and pattern design based on human sensibility.

  • Cyber counseling, one of the most compatible type of consultation for the information society, enables people to reveal their mental agonies and private problems anonymously, since it does not require face-to-face interview between a counsellor and a client. However, there are few cyber counseling centers which provide high quality and trustworthy service, although the number of cyber counseling center has highly increased. Therefore, this paper is intended to enable an appropriate consultation for each client by analyzing client propensity using Bayesian variable selection. Bayesian variable selection is superior to stepwise regression analysis method in finding out a regression model. Stepwise regression analysis method, which has been generally used to analyze individual propensity in linear regression model, is not efficient since it is hard to select a proper model for its own defects. In this paper, based on the case database of current cyber counseling centers in the web, we will analyze clients' propensities using Bayesian variable selection to enable individually target counseling and to activate cyber counseling programs.

  • This Qualitative nursing research used a hermeneutic phenomenological approach to discover meaning in an self-transcendence experience. The ultimate aim of the inquiry was to discover the essence of self-transcendence experience and to promote understanding. The study used van Manen's Methodology of phenmonological research. Multiple strategies for data collecting were utilized : in depth face-to-face interview and analysis of elders' literature. The following themes of experience emerged : Accepting becoming older as a natural phenomenon, transferring to one's own sons' and daughters' oriented life. Maintaining harmonious relationship with neighbors and peer, observing real situations with silence, forming internal integrity with perseverance, compromising own's real situation, actualizing one's death, giving up roots of life, depending on God and conforming to human limitation. From this study essential themes for understanding self-transcendence experience and needs for continuing inquiry were identified.

Method: Multiple strategies for data collecting were used: an in depth face-to-face interview; analysis of adolescent' writings; and analysis of examples of phenomenon in the realistic world. The sample group consisted of 10 adolescents. Results: Although the experience was different for all adolescent interviewed, the essential themes of experience emerged: "fill up", "homoeologous feeling", "the older generation has a conflicting negative opinion", "change in social character", "become habitually skeptic", "have bad health", "mean of superiority and getting everything solved", "ease of access", "monetary benefit", "addiction to the computer", "forget real life solved stress", "do harm to society", "take comfort", or "new job". Conclusion: Accordingly this paper suggests that contact with various software is necessary in adolescents, and good quality contents function to prepare and activate adolescents to apply the internet for good use.

  • The purpose of this study is to verify the effectiveness the IoT program in online, and explore the applicability of the design course in consideration of design elements and realistic constraints for engineering education accreditation in online. For this study, IoT programs developed based on online classes were operated, and the effectiveness as a subject was verified through satisfaction surveys, competency test, and interview of participating students. In addition, by presenting design elements and realistic constraints in a online environment required to apply to engineering design courses, it is expected that they can be used as basic data in developing and operating actual design curriculum.

  • Objective : A pilot project entitled '50s mental health screening project' was conducted in Seoul. As a part of this project, we conducted surveys to obtain the opinions of psychiatrists regarding mental health screenings. Methods : A questionnaire was mailed to members registered with the Korean Neuropsychiatric Association, which enquired about the '50s mental health screening project'. Results: A majority (90.9%) of the subjects agreed on the purpose and implementation of the project. However, there were fewer individuals that actually showed the intent to participate (65.8%). The mean age of the group with the intention to participate was higher compared to the group with no intention to participate. The factors that negatively affected the intent to participate included prejudice and discrimination against psychiatry (3.795), low health insurance reimbursement (3.784), and inconvenience of reporting to public health centers (3.664). The most appropriate method that scored the highest for screening mental health was face-to-face consultation with a psychiatrist (3.889). Most of the participants agreed on the method of a self-reported survey along with an interview of psychiatrist (84.9%). Conclusion : Subjects were concerned about prejudice and discrimination against psychiatry, low health insurance reimbursement, and inconvenience of reporting to public health centers. These problems need to be supplemented. Face-to-face consultation with a psychiatrist may be considered an appropriate method for future mental health screening.
