The Cu nanofluid in ethylene glycol was prepared by electrical explosion of wire, a novel one-step method. The X-ray diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscope and transmission electron microscope were used to study the properties of Cu nanoparticles. The results showed that the nanoparticles were consisted of pure face-centered cubic structure and near spherical shape with average grain size of 65 nm. Ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy (UV-Vis) confirmed Cu nanoparticles with a single absorbance peak of Cu surface plasmon resonance band at 600 nm. The nanofluid was found to be stable due to high positive zeta potential value, +51 mV. The backscattering level of nanofluid in static stationary was decreased about 2% for 5 days. The thermal conductivity measurement showed that Cu-ethylene glycol nanofluid with low concentration of nanoparticles had higher thermal conductivity than based fluid. The enhancement of thermal conductivity of nanofluid at a volume fraction of 0.1% was approximately 5.2%.
Cubic mesocrystal $CeO_2$ was synthesized via a hydrothermal method with glutamic acid ($C_5H_9NO_4$) as a template. The XRD pattern of a calcined sample shows the face-centered cubic fluorite structure of ceria. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and the selected-area electron diffraction (SAED) pattern revealed that the submicron cubic mesocrystals were composed of many small crystals attached to each other with the same orientation. The UV-visible adsorption spectrum exhibited the red-shift phenomenon of mesocrystal $CeO_2$ compared to commercial $CeO_2$ particles; thus, the prepared materials show tremendous potential to degrade organic dyes under visible light illumination. With a concentration of a rhodamine B solution of 20 mg/L and a catalyst amount of 0.1 g/L, the reaction showed higher photocatalytic performance following irradiation with a xenon lamp (${\geq}380nm$). The decoloring rate can exceed 100% after 300 min.

$\beta-Cyclodextrin$ derivatives connected with diaza-18-crown-6 through flexible bridges (R) at the secondary face 1a-c (1a: R = $-(CH_2)4-;$ 1b: R = $-CH_2CH_2OCH_2CH2-;$ 1c: R = $-(CH_2)8-)$ have been prepared. The associa tion constants of 1 with (2-naphthoxy)alkylammonium ions (2a: alkyl = butyl; 2b: alkyl = octyl) were determined by induced circular dichroism (ICD) spectroscopy and it was found that the derivatization of $\beta-CD$ with the diazacrown resulted in enhanced binding with 2, compared to the native $\beta-CD.$ ICD Characteristics of the host-guest complexes indicate that a part of the alkylammonium moiety of 2 is protruded from the secondary side of the $\beta-CD$ cavity, and the guest molecules 2a and 2b move to the secondary and primary side, respectively, to make the binding of the ammonium group with the diaza-18-crown-6 moiety more feasible. The energy accompanied by the relocation of the guest molecules inside $\beta-CD$ moiety is compensated by the interaction energy between the ammonium ion and diazacrown ether.
Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were successfully synthesized through a simple green route using the Nelumbo nucifera leaf, stem and flower extracts. These nanoparticles showed characteristic UV-Vis absorption peaks between 410-450 nm which arises due to the plasmon resonance of silver nanoparticles. The Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) confirmed the presence of amides and which acted as the stabilizing agent. X-ray diffraction spectrum of the nanoparticles confirmed the Face centered cubic (FCC) structure of the formed AgNPs. Dynamic light scattering technique was used to measure hydrodynamic diameter (68.6 nm to 88.1 nm) and zeta potential (-55.4 mV, -57.9 mV and 98.9 mV) of prepared AgNPs. The scanning electron micrographs of dislodged nanoparticles in aqueous solution showed the production of reasonably monodispersed silver nanoparticles (1-100 nm). The antimicrobial activity of prepared AgNPs was evaluated against fungi, Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria using disc diffusion method. Anti-corrosion studies were carried out using coupon method (mild steel and iron) and dye degradation studies were carried out by assessing photo-catalytic activity of Nelumbo nucifera extracts mediated AgNPs.

This study investigated the feasibility of synthesizing GNPs using synchrotron radiation X-ray for use as a radiosensitizer in radiotherapy, and examined the morphology of the GNPs. Different concentration ratios of 4-mM gold precursor aqueous solution and 4-mM $NaHCO_3$ were mixed. This gold precursor aqueous solution was continuously irradiated with synchrotron radiation in the 4B X-ray microdiffraction beamline of Pohang Light Source (PLS)-II in Korea. The SEM, EDS, TEM, and XRD spectra of the GNPs synthesized using the synchrotron radiation were investigated. The GNPs synthesized using the synchrotron radiation were nanocrystals predominantly in the (111) direction of the face-centered cubic structure. We found that the shape of the gold nanoparticles was icosahedron at the molar concentrations of 0.25 mM:0.25 mM and 0.5 mM:0.5 mM mixed with 4 mM $HAuCl_4{\cdot}3H_2O$ and 4 mM $NaHCO_3$ solutions.

Facial expressions exhibit not only facial feature motions, but also subtle changes in illumination and appearance. Since it is difficult to generate realistic facial expressions by using only geometric deformations, detailed features such as textures should also be deformed to achieve more realistic expression. The existing methods such as the expression ratio image have drawbacks, in that detailed changes of complexion by lighting can not be generated properly. In this paper, we propose a nonlinear model for skin color change and a model-based synthesis method for facial expression that can apply realistic expression details under different lighting conditions. The proposed method is composed of the following three steps; automatic extraction of facial features using active appearance model and geometric deformation of expression using warping, generation of facial expression using a model for nonlinear skin color change, and synthesis of original face with generated expression using a blending ratio that is computed by the Euclidean distance transform. Experimental results show that the proposed method generate realistic facial expressions under various lighting conditions.

Wrinkle formation is mainly attributed to the environmental factors such as UV rays, air pollution, smoking and stress etc. Especially, UV rays induce premature skin aging which is characterized by deep wrinkle, leathery dryness etc. Recently, researches on the wrinkle formation and its prevention have been the main theme in cosmetics fields. We have studied the various plant extracts having anti-wrinkle effects and finally showed that Noni (Morinda citrifolia) extracts have the efficacy of promoting the type I collagen synthesis in normal human fibroblast, using PICP assay. We purified one active compound from Noni extracts and identified its structure. It was identified as 6,7-Dimethoxy-2H-1-Benzopyran-2-one; scopoletin by $^1H-NMR,\;^{13}C-NMR,$ IR, Mass analysis. Scopoletin increased collagen synthesis in a dose dependent manner (89.5% at $0.2{\mu}g/mL$). In order to verify the anti-aging effectiveness of the cream containing 3% noni extracsts, we performed the in vivo test with some female volunteers for 12 weeks. It reduced the signs of aging, especially face wrinkles. From these results, we conclude that the noni extracts could be used as an useful anti-wrinkle agent.
The aim of this study was to develop a simple, environmentally friendly synthesis of silver nanoparticles (SNPs) without the use of chemical reducing agents by exploiting the extracellular synthesis of SNPs in a culture supernatant of Bacillus thuringiensis CH3. Addition of 5 mM $AgNO_3$ to the culture supernatant at a ratio of 1:1 caused a change in the maximum absorbance at 418 nm corresponding to the surface plasmon resonance of the SNPs. Synthesis of SNPs occurred within 8 hr and reached a maximum at 40-48 hr. The structural characteristics of the synthesized SNPs were investigated by various instrumental analysis. FESEM observations showed the formation of well-dispersed spherical SNPs, and the presence of silver was confirmed by EDS analysis. The X-ray diffraction spectrum indicated that the SNPs had a face-centered cubic crystal lattice. The average SNP size, calculated using DLS, was about 51.3 nm and ranged from 19 to 110 nm. The synthesized SNPs exhibited a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity against a variety of pathogenic Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria and yeasts. The highest antimicrobial activity was observed against C. albicans, a human pathogenic yeast. The FESEM observations determined that the antimicrobial activity of the SNPs was due to destruction of the cell surface, cytoplasmic leakage, and finally cell lysis. This study suggests that B. thuringiensis CH3 is a potential candidate for efficient synthesis of SNPs, and that these SNPs have potential uses in a variety of pharmaceutical applications.

This paper deals with the development of a smart mirror to support changing hair styles. A key function of the service is the ability to synthesize the image into the user's face when the user chooses a desired hair image and virtually styling the hair. To check the effectiveness of the hair image synthesis function, the success rate measurement experiment of Haar-cascade algorithm's facial recognition was conducted. Experiments have confirmed that the facial recognition succeeds with a 95 percent probability, with both eyes and eyebrows visible to the subjects. It is the highest success rate. It confirmed that if either of the eyebrows of the subjects are not visible or one eyeball is covered, the success rate of facial recognition is 50% and 0% respectively.

In this paper, a new intermediate view reconstruction method employing a stereo image rectification algorithm by which an uncalibrated input stereo image can be transformed into the calibrated one is suggested and its performance is analyzed. In the proposed method, feature point are extracted from the stereo image pair though detection of the corners and similarities between each pixel of the stereo image. And then, using these detected feature points, the moving vectors between stereo image and the epipolar line is extracted. Finally, the input stereo image is rectified by matching the extracted epipolar line between the stereo image in the horizontal direction and intermediate views are reconstructed by using these rectified stereo images. From some experiments on synthesis of the intermediate views by using three kinds of stereo image; a CCETT's stereo image of 'Man' and two stereo images of 'Face' & 'Car' captured by real camera, it is analyzed that PSNRs of the intermediate views reconstructed from the calibrated image by using the proposed rectification algorithm are improved by 2.5㏈ for 'Man', 4.26㏈ for 'Pace' and 3.85㏈ for 'Car' than !hose of the uncalibrated ones. This good experimental result suggests a possibility of practical application of the unposed stereo image rectification algorithm-based intermediate view reconstruction view to the uncalibrated stereo images.
