A Study on the Reliability Analysis of Platform Safety Step System in Urban Railway (도시철도 승강장 안전발판 시스템 신뢰도 분석에 관한 연구)

  • We developed the platform safety step system for the passenger to avoid misstep accident and secure the pedestrian safety. In this study, we classify platform safety step system into hierarchy system and predict the failure rate of each part and calculate the failure rate & MTBF(Mean Time Between Failure) of each module(sub-system) by means of RBD(Reliability Block Diagram) & FTA(Fault Tree Analysis). Finally, we will propose the reliability analysis results for RAMS analysis of platform safety step system.

  • In this thesis using FTA technique, the author proposes a new method of analysis of some accidents in construction work. Some efficient plans of safe facility investment are made out. For this study, I referred to 'The Death Accident in Construction Works', which have been published by Korea Industrial Safety Corporation from 1993 to 1999 for 6 years. I selected some of apartment constructions which have caused many deaths for the purpose of analysis in the study. I found that the concrete work using ferro-deck takes more deaths than the conventional construction. After finding this, I selected GANG FORM works using ferro-concrete which is the most widely used but causes many accidents. On the basis of the classification, I try to do some quantitative analyses by adding the death frequency and material factors. In order to draw up the most efficient investment plan, it is imperative that FT diagram be made out and that factors. In order to draw up the most efficient investment plan, it is imperative that FT diagram be made out and that minimal Cut Set be needed. It requires a great deal to labor and time to get Minimal Cut Set. The Minimal Cut Set which is formed of these process is the main factor to analyze disaster in the work. It is desirable that we add calculated percentage of accidents to these factors to these factors in value order, that is to say, from the high cost to low cost.

Corelationship Study between Hwa-Byung and Type A Behavior Pattern, Cardiovascular Disease (화병과 A형 행동유형 및 심혈관질환과의 관련성 연구)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this research is to investigate the corelationship between Hwa-Byung and type A behavior pattern (TABP), cardiovascular disease. Methods : 637 people participated in the community based cohort study in Wonju City of South Korea from July 2nd to August 30th in 2006. Educated investigators checked up EKG and surveyed Hwa-Byung Diagnostic Interview Schedule(HBDIS), Framingham Type A Pattern Score(FTA score). Collected data were analyzed by the chi-square test & t-test. Results : 1. TABP, Hwa-Byung group was 24(70.6%), non Hwa-Byung group was 288(27.8%) p-value was 0.016. Difference of the two group was valid. 2. FTA score, Hwa-Byung group was $5.77{\pm}2.25$, non Hwa-Byung group was $4.41{\pm}2.30$, p-value was 0.002. Difference of the two group was valid. Conclusions : TABP ratio, FTA score was high in Hwa-Byung group compared with non Hwa-Byung group.

  • In HVDC systems, the full-bridge submodule increases the number of components compared to the half-bridge submodule, but the failure-rate can be reduced by securing 100 % redundancy. However, full-bridge submodules require more complex control algorithms to ensure the redundancy and to prevent arm-short with sufficient dead-time. To solve this problem, we analyse the failure-rate of the paralleled half-bridge configuration with the same number of components and 100 % redundancy as the full-bridge submodule. The fault tree analysis (FTA) method is applied to the conventional part failure analysis to reflect the operation risk of the submodule, thereby predicting the life-cycle of the submodule more accurately. To verify the validity, the failure-rate results of the proposed FTA based analysis method are compared with the failure rate obtained by the part failure method.

  • In this paper, we developed and tested a program for prediction flash fire in a combat system. Purposes of the program are flash fire prediction of combat system for analysis vulnerability and survivability, and visualization for fire-related information. To do this, we defined critical components of the combat system which has probabilities of flash fire occurrence, and proposed Flash Fire Probability Tree which is based on Fault Tree Analysis(FTA). The program visualizes positions of critical components in combat system, positions of penetrated components, selected Flash Fire Probability Tree, temperature profile, and tables for properties of matters.

  • 한-EU FTA 발효 등은 교역 확대가 예상되며, 항만의 역할은 더욱더 중요해 질 것이다. 항만의 성과를 측정할 수 있는 방안으로 DEA를 활용한 효율성 측정을 들 수 있으며, 본 연구에서는 DEA 측정 시 모형 선정의 어려움과 동태적 효율성을 변화를 분석하기 위해 DEA와 Shannon's Entropy 결합모형으로 효율성을 분석하고, DEA-Window 모형으로 동태적 효율변화를 분석하였다.

  • Now, Korea-U.S.A Free Trade Agreement talk is underway in Korea. In FTA talks, the issues on audio-visual sector including screen quota, opening of broadcasting and telecommunication to the U.S.A. are becoming a hot potato. Globalization has been speed up by mass media and telecommunications. Cultures are no longer bounded by specific place but, through the migration of persons and the electronic flows of information, ideas and images, transgress established boundaries. So issues and debates have to be focused on global culture and cultural imperialism. Some would argue global culture is the consequences of capitalist world-system, so dominance by the center should be criticized and vanished. Some would say that global culture would help recipient society's people with cultural diversify and improvement. The issues on culture and communication, particularly at international level call for our attention in light of cultural identity, homogenization and diversity. Although I criticize the cultural imperialism thesis, I suggest critical acceptance of cultural imperialism. That is the observation of complexity between internal and external dynamics. The process of cultural imperialism is not simple and unitary. It rather involves the various forces of internal dynamics along with external forces.

  • This study has suggested a decision method which determine optimum investment level for safety management by process risk assessment at gas governor station. Hazard and operability study(HAZOP), fault tree analysis(FTA) and consequence analysis(CA) were carried out and potential accident cost and benefit for safety management were estimated. As a result, we could be found the trend of safety cost and benefit by the nonlinear regression method and could be determined the optimum investment level for safety management from analysis of safety management cost and potential accident cost.

  • Korea Aerospce Research Institute(KARI) has been developing the first civilian rocket, Korea space launch vehicle (KSLV-I), which can put the small size satellite into designated orbit. Developing launch vehicles contains a lot of uncertainty due to large scale, complexity, and technical difficulty. The uncertainty may become risk in the areas of business and technology which causes schedule delay, cost increase, and design changes of subsystems and components. This study describes the technical risk identification methods using FTA and procedures of planning and implementation of risk assessment and reduction of launch vehicle propulsion system.

  • Today toxic gas has various uses. If there is a release accident, the gas rapidly disperse into the atmosphere. The extent of damage due to toxic gas accident is very wide and fatal to human being. So, it is necessary for toxic gas facilities which have high risk to construct an emergency response system that prepare to toxic release and make immediate response to be possible at accident appearance. In this study accident scenario were selected and frequency analysis was executed using FTA technique. Dispersion effect of toxic gas release was analyzed using DNV company's PHAST(Ver. 6.2). Finally, an emergency response system was developed using results of quantitative risk analysis.
