This paper investigates the problem of robust H$_{\infty}$ filter with FIR(Finite Impulse Response) structure for linear continuous time-varying systems with sampled-data measurements. It is assumed that the system is subject to real time-varying uncertainty which is represented by the state-space model having parameter uncertainty. The robust H$_{\infty}$ FIR filter is proposed for the continuous-time linear parameter uncertain systems. It is also derived from the equivalence relationship between the robust linear H$_{\infty}$ FIR filter and the robust linear H$_{\infty}$ filter with sampled-data measurements.

In this paper, a finite impulse response(FIR) fixed-lag smoother is proposed for discrete-time nonlinear systems. If the actual state trajectory is sufficiently close to the nominal state trajectory, the nonlinear system model can be divided into two parts: The error-state model and the nominal model. The error state can be estimated by adapting the optimal time-varying FIR smoother to the error-state model, and the nominal state can be obtained directly from the nominal trajectory model. Moreover, in order to obtain more robust estimates, the linearization errors are considered as a linear function of the estimation errors. Since the proposed estimator has an FIR structure, the proposed smoother can be expected to have better estimation performance than the IIR-structured estimators in terms of robustness and fast convergence. Additionally the proposed method can give a more general solution than the optimal FIR filtering approach, since the optimal FIR smoother is reduced to the optimal FIR filter by setting the fixed-lag size as zero. To illustrate the performance of the proposed method, simulation results are presented by comparing the method with an optimal FIR filtering approach and linearized Kalman filter.
In this paper we show the performance of neural Chandrasekhar filtering which is a special case for the new method of neural filtering using the artificial neural network systems developed recently for the filtering problems of linear and nonlinear, stationary and nonstationary stochastic signals. The neurofilter developed has either the finite impulse response(FIR) structure or the infinite impulse response(IIR) structure. The neurofilter differs from the conventional linear digital FIR and IIR filters because the artificial neural network system used in the neurofilter has nonlinear structure due to the sigmoid function. Numerical studies for the estimation of a second order Butterworth process are performed by changing the structures of the neurofilter in order to evaluate the performance indices under the changes of the output noises or disturbances. In the numerical studies both Chandrasekhar filtering estimates and true signals are used as the training signals for the neurofilter. The results obtained from the studies verified the capabilities which are essentially necessary for on-line filtering of various stochastic signals.

This paper presents the results of the robust H(sub)$\infty$ FIR filtering for a class of nonlinear continuous time-varying systems subject to real norm-bounded parameter uncertainty and know Lipschitz nonlinearity under sampled measurements. We address the problem of designing filters, using sampled measurements, which guarantee a prescribed H(sub)$\infty$ performance in continuous time-varying context, irrespective of the parameter uncertainty and unknown initial states. The infinite horizon causal H(sub)$\infty$FIR filter are investigated using the finite moving horizon in terms of two Riccati equations with finite discrete jumps.

In this paper, a block FIR(Finite Impulse Response) filtering architecture is proposed for IF digital down converter. Digital down converter consists of digital mixers. decimation filters and down samplers. In this proposed structure, it is shown that a efficient parallel decimation filter architecture can be produced by cancellation of inherent up sampling of the block filter and following down sampler Furthermore. it is shown that computational complexity of the proposed architecture is reduced by exploiting the block FIR structure and zero values of the digital mixers.

A novel pre-equalization method for terrestrial DTV transmitters is presented. A pre-equalizer has been used in transmitters to correct group delay and amplitude distortions caused by a channel filter. In the proposed pre-equalizer, an equation-error adaptive IIR filtering scheme is adopted unlike the conventional pre-equalization using FIR filtering schemes. The pole-zero modelling property of IIR filters improves the signal-to-noise ratio and may deal with diverse linear distortions existing in DTV transmitters as well as the channel filter distortion. Simulation results show that the proposed IIR pre-equalizer performs better than the FIR pre-equalizer in terms of the residual mean-square error.
Base-line wandering and 60Hz noise in ECG are removed by linear phase FIR filter. The important problem in FIR filtering is to reduce the number of impulse response coefficients. It can be reduced by symmetrical impulse response. The ripple is improved by window function .omega.(n). And the determination of filter accuracy is proposed by PRD(percent rms difference) algorithm.
This paper describes the design of FIR filtering DSP-chip that can be operated without programming. The proposed DSP-chip has not only the improvement of execution time but also selectivity of filter length from N=1 to N=128. Hilbert Transformer can be designed from this chip. FIR filter system is composed of Data memory/Control Unit, external memory and multiplier-accumulator. Data memory/Control Unit is laid out in this paper.

In this paper, a deconvolution filtering method for all-pass systems based on FIR approximation is proposed. The proposed method enables us to obtain a causal stable deconvolution filter by FIR approximating a non-causal stable deconvolution filter to a causal stable one. As we can see in this paper, the impulse response of the deconvolution filter for all-pass system is simply the mirror image of the impulse response for all-pass system itself. Due to this symmetric property between all-pass system itself and its deconvolution Inter, this method can be applied to all-pass systems without special limitation of the system's order. In order to verify the performance of the proposed method. computer simulation results for 1st-, 2nd- and 400th-order all-pass systems are included.

In an effort to enhance the quality of feature vector classification and thereby reduce the recognition error rate for the speaker-independent speech recognition, we study the effect of spectral tilt on the Fourier magnitude spectrum en route to the extraction of MFCC. The effect of FIR filtering on the speech signal on the speech recognition is also investigated in parallel. Evaluation of the proposed methods are performed by two independent ways of the Fisher discriminant objective function and speech recognition test by hidden Markov model with fuzzy vector quantization. From the experiments, the recognition error rate is found to show about 10% relative improvements over the conventional method by an appropriate choice of the tilt factor.
