Development of n Hybrid Bumper Beam Using Simulation (시뮬레이션을 이용한 하이브리드 범퍼 빔 개발)

  • Bumper back beam is one of the essential structural components of front-end module. It should be designed to withstand a minor bump in low-speed collision, 2.5 mph crash test for example. And weight reduction is always important problem in the design of almost all the parts in car for energy saving. So, the key issues in shape design of a bumper are weight reduction and the performance in 2.5mph crash test. In this study, a light weight and high performance bumper back beam model was developed using analytical approach based on mechanics and FE simulation together.

  • 자동차 부품은 주행 중 전후, 좌우, 상하방향의 병진 운동과 각 축에 대한 회전 운동 등 6자유도의 운동을 받는다. 이와 같은 운동에 따라 자동차에 탑재되는 운전석(cockpit), 의자(seat), 연료탱크, 라디에이터, FEM(front end module) 등의 부품 및 모듈 등은 6자유도 운동을 받으면서 각 부품의 기능을 수행하고 있다. 따라서 이들 부품을 짧은 시간 내에 개발하기 위해서는 가속내구시험평가가 필수적인데 이를 위해 유압식 6자유도 가진 테이블을 이용한 기술이 활용되고 있다. 본 해설에서는 자동차 부품 및 모듈의 내구성능 평가 과정과 함께 유압식 6자유도 가진 테이블을 보유하고 관련 부품의 진동내구성능을 평가하고 있는 군산대학교 자동차부품기술혁신센터(KATIC)의 시험 평가장비 및 사례를 기술하였다. 이와 같은 자동차 부품 내구성능평가 방법과 6자유도 가진 테이블을 이용한 시험은 향후 자동차부품 및 일반기계부품 개발업체에서 내구성능향상을 위하여 활용도가 더욱 증대될 것이다.

  • In this paper, we developed a hardware and software platform of the real-time data logging system to verify radar FEM (Front-end Module) and signal-processing algorithms. We developed a hardware platform based on FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) and DSP (Digital Signal Processor) and implemented firmware software to verify the various FEMs. Moreover, we designed PC based software platform to control radar logging parameters and save radar data. The developed platform was verified using 24 GHz multiple channel FMCW (Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave) in an environment of stationary and moving targets of chamber room.

Design and implementation of power-controlled front-end module for direct conversion receiver (전력제어 직접변환수신 6단자 소자 설계 및 제작)

  • The power-controlled six-port element that can control the local oscillator signal power and receiving RF signal power was designed and implemented in this paper. The direct conversion six-port element configuration was proposed, which provides the constant six-port output power by controlling the six-port input power with various signal strength. The direct conversion six-port element protects the power detector element of six-port receiver from the saturation status and compensates the transmission performance degradation. For implementation of power-controlled six-port element, the power-controlled six-port element including the power controller was analyzed. The implemented power-controlled six-port element shows the power control capability of 36 dB and gain imbalance of about 1.6 dB, phase imbalance of about $4^{\circ}$ in the frequency range of 1.69 GHz. The measured results show the good performance as direct conversion front-end element.

  • This paper presents a step up four channel DC-DC converter using charge pump voltage doubler structure. Our goal is to design and implement DC-DC converter for capacitive SP4T RF MEMS switch in front end module in wireless transceiver system. Charge pump structure is small and consume low power 3.3V input voltage is boosted by DC-DC Converter to $11.3{\pm}0.1V$, $12.4{\pm}0.1V$, $14.1{\pm}0.2V$ output voltage With 10MHz switching frequency. By using voltage level shifter structure, output of DC-DC converter is selected by 3.3V four channel selection signals and transferred to capacitive MEMS devices. External passive devices are not used for driving DC-DC converter. The total chip area is $2.8{\times}2.1mm^2$ including pads and the power consumption is 7.52mW, 7.82mW, 8.61mW.

  • This paper presents a lateral resistive contact RF MEMS switch using comb drive. Our goal was to fabricate the RF MEMS switch with high reliability and good RF characteristics for front end module in wireless transceiver system. Therefore, comb drive is used for large contact force in order to achieve low insertion loss and small off-state capacitance in order to achieve high isolation. The single crystalline silicon is used for mechanical reliability. As a result, the developed switch showed insertion loss less than 0.44 dB at 2 GHz, isolation greater than 60 dB, and low actuation voltage at 26 V.

  • In this paper, we suggests a Ka-band LNB considering next-generation UHD satellite TVRO. Since Ka-band has grater attenuation than Ku-band in atmosphere, we designed the low-noise down-converter to improve receiving sensitivity and to extend a dynamic range of receiver. It aims to compensate a quality of ultra high definition transmission signal for rainfall. The low-noise block diagram consists of a three-staged amplifier (LNA), band-pass filter for deleting image (BPF), mixer and IF when considering nonlinear characteristics in the receiver RF front end module. Also, we showed a LNB through optimization processes affecting dynamic range directly in receiver FEM. Asa resuly of experiment, the gain of low-noise down-converter show between 58.5dB and 60.7dB, the noise figure has a high characteristic as 1.38dB. Finally, the phase noise of local oscillator is -63.10dBc at 100MHz offset frequency.

Numerical study on the thermal performance characteristics of the stack system for FCEV (연료전지 자동차용 스택 시스템의 열적 성능 특성에 관한 수치적 연구)

  • The objective of this study is to numerically investigate the heat transfer rate for evaluating the thermal performances of the stack thermal system using the commercial software. In order to perform this, the cooling performances of the stack system for fuel cell electric vehicle were tested under both driving road conditions including the general driving road and uphill driving road and operating conditions with and without of the air conditioning system. The heat transfer rate of the stack radiator for the stack system was increased with the increase of the inlet air flow velocity. The heat transfer rate of the stack radiator increased by 105.3% at the coolant flow rate of 20 l/min and 221.3% at the coolant flow rate of 120 l/min with the increase of the air flow velocity from 2 m/s to 10 m/s. $9.45^{\circ}C$ of inlet coolant temperature of the stack radiator at the severe driving condition of the slope of 8% and velocity of 50 km/h showed higher 85.3% than $5.1^{\circ}C$ of inlet coolant temperature at the general driving condition of the slope of 0% and velocity of 120 km/h. In addition, as the fuel cell electric vehicle with the air conditioning system operation was driving under severe uphill driving condition, the radiator coolant temperature for a stable stack operation could be exceeded over $70^{\circ}C$.
