$Eu^{3+}$- or $Sm^{3+}$-doped $La_2MoO_6$ phosphors were synthesized with different concentrations of activator ions via a solid-state reaction. The X-ray diffraction patterns exhibited that crystalline structures of all the phosphors were tetragonal systems with the dominant peak occurring at (103) plane, irrespective of the concentration and the type of activator ions. The crystallites showed the pebble-like crystalline shapes and the average crystallite size increased with a tendency to agglomerate as the concentration of $Eu^{3+}$ ions increased. The excitation spectra of $Eu^{3+}$-doped $La_2MoO_6$ phosphors contained an intense charge transfer band centered at 331 nm in the range of 250-370 nm and three weak peaks at 381, 394, and 415 nm, respectively, due to the $^7F_0{\rightarrow}^5L_7$, $^7F_0{\rightarrow}^5L_6$, and $^7F_0{\rightarrow}^5D_3$ transitions of $Eu^{3+}$ ions. The emission spectra under excitation at 331 nm exhibited a strong red band centered at 620 nm and two weak bands at 593 and 704 nm. As the concentration of $Eu^{3+}$ increased from 1 to 20 mol%, the intensities of all the emission bands gradually increased. For the $Sm^{3+}$-doped $La_2MoO_6$ phosphors, the emission spectra consisted of an intense emission band at 607 nm arising from the $^4G_{5/2}{\rightarrow}^6H_{7/2}$ transition and three relatively small bands at 565, 648, and 707 nm originating from the $^4G_{5/2}{\rightarrow}^6H_{5/2}$, $^4G_{5/2}{\rightarrow}^6H_{9/2}$, and $^4G_{5/2}{\rightarrow}^6H_{11/2}$ transitions of $Sm^{3+}$, respectively. The intensities of all the emission bands approached maxima when concentration of $Sm^{3+}$ ions was 5 mol%. These results indicate that the optimum concentrations for highly-luminescent red and orange emission are 20 mol% of $Eu^{3+}$ and 5 mol% of $Sm^{3+}$ ions, respectively.
One of the recent safety issues in the pressurized heavy water reactor (PHWR) is the cracking of the feeder pipe. Because of the limited accessibility to the cracked region and a high dose of radiation exposure, it is difficult to inspect all the pipes with the conventional ultrasonic method. In order to solve this problem, a long-range guided wave technique has been developed. A computer program to calculate the dispersion curves in the pipe was developed and the dispersion curves for the feeder pipes in PHWR plants were determined. Several longitudinal and/or flexural modes were selected from the review of the dispersion curves and an actual experiment has been carried out with the specific alignment of the piezoelectric ultrasonic transducers. They were confirmed as L(0,1)) and/or flexural modes(F(m,2)) by the short time Fourier transformation(STFT) and were sensitive to the circumferential cracks, but not to the axial cracks in the pipe. An electromagnetic acoustic transducers(EMAT) was designed and fabricated for the generation and reception of the torsional guided wave. The axial cracks were detected by a torsional mode(T(0,1)) generated by the EMAT.
The article describes a technique for the measurement of the level of complexity of fracture surfaces by the method of vertical sections, and a performed statistical analysis of the effect of profile lines on the fractographic and fractal parameters of fractures, i.e. the profile line development factor, $R_L$, and the fracture surface development factor, $R_S$, (as defined by the cycloid method), as well as the fractal dimension, $D_C$, (as determined by the chord method), and the fractal dimension, $D_{BC}$, (as determined by the box method). The above-mentioned parameters were determined for fracture surfaces of basalt and gravel concretes, respectively, which had previously been subjected to fracture toughness tests. The concretes were made from mixtures of a water/cement ratio ranging from 0.41 to 0.61 and with a variable fraction of coarse aggregate to fine aggregate, $C_{agg.}/F_{agg.}$, in the range from 1.5 to 3.5. Basalt and gravel aggregate of a fraction to maximum 16 mm were used to the tests. Based on the performed analysis it has been established that the necessary number of concrete fracture profile lines, which assures the reliability of obtained testing results, should amount to 12.

A 10-bit 10MS/s low power consumption successive approximation register (SAR) analog-to-digital converter (ADC) using a straightforward capacitive digital-to-analog converter (DAC) is presented in this paper. In the proposed capacitive DAC, switching is always straightforward, and its value is half of the peak-to-peak voltage in each step. Also the most significant bit (MSB) is decided without any switching power consumption. The application of the straightforward switching causes lower power consumption in the structure. The input is sampled at the bottom plate of the capacitor digital-to-analog converter (CDAC) as it provides better linearity and a higher effective number of bits. The comparator applies adaptive power control, which reduces the overall power consumption. The differential prototype SAR ADC was implemented with $0.18{\mu}m$ complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) technology and achieves an effective number of bits (ENOB) of 9.49 at a sampling frequency of 10MS/s. The structure consumes 0.522mW from a 1.8V supply. Signal to noise-plus-distortion ratio (SNDR) and spurious free dynamic range (SFDR) are 59.5 dB and 67.1 dB and the figure of merit (FOM) is 95 fJ/conversion-step.
An NIR grism Si optical area sensor spectrometer with in-band reference wavelength is designed and fabricated. It is composed of a transmission type diffraction grating (spatial density 300 line/mm), a rectangular N-BK7 prism (apex angle 30 degree), NIR filter(cutoff wavelength 720 nm), an imaging convex lens(focal length 50 mm F1.8) and an IR modified DSLR camera (Canon EOS40D) of Si optical area sensor ($3,888{\times}2,592$ pixels, pixel size $5.710{\mu}m$). "In-band reference wavelength function" is implemented using non-dispersive 0th diffraction order optical beam. The NIR grism spectrometer is tested in a laboratory using a halogen lamp and a Neon lamp. And the spectrometer is used in an astronomy field for obtaining the planet Jupiter NIR spectrum. In-band reference wavelength i.e. un-deviation wavelength is 846 nm, an wavelength resolution is 0.3027 nm/pixel, an wavelength resolving power is 2,794 and an wavelength range is 650~1,000 nm.
In this work, mechanical characteristics of stainless steel diaphragm have been studied as a potential robust substrate and a diaphragm material for micromachined devices. Lamination process techniques combined with traditional micromachining processes have been adopted as suitable fabrication technologies. To illustrate these principles, capacitive pressure sensors based on a stainless steel diaphragm have been designed, fabricated and characterized. The fabrication process for stainless steel micromachined devices keeps the membrane and substrate being at the environment of 8.65MPa pressure and $175^{\circ}C$ for a half hour and then subsequently cooled to $25^{\circ}C$. Each sensor uses a stainless steel substrate, a laminated stainless steel film as a suspended movable plate and a fixed, surface micromachined back electrode of electroplated nickel. The finite element method is adopted to investigate residual stresses formed in the process. Besides, out-of-plane deflections are calculated under pressures on the diaphragm. The sensitivity of the device fabricated using these technologies is 9.03 ppm $kPa^{-1}$ with a net capacitance change of 0.14 pF over a range 0$\sim$180 kPa.
The purpose of this study is to present the application of WFS co-mixtures for retaining wall as flowable backfill. The fly ash, generated at the Tae-An thermoelectric power plant, was used in this research and was classified as Class F. Green Sand, Furane Sand, and Coated Sand, which had been used at a foundry located in Pusan, were used. Couple of laboratory tests and small scale retaining wall tests were performed to obtain the physical properties of the WFS co-mixtures and the possibility of backfill materials of retaining wall. The range of permeability for all the co-mixtures was from 3.0${\times}$10$\^$-3/ cm/s to 6.0${\times}$10$\^$-5/ cm/s. The unconfined strength of the 28-day cured specimens reached around 550kPa. Results of the consolidated-undrained triaxial test showed that the internal friction angle is between 33.5$^{\circ}$ and 41.8$^{\circ}$. The lateral earth pressure against wall decreased up to 80% of initial pressure within a 12 hours and the total lateral earth pressure is less than that of typical granular soil. It was enough to construct the backfill for the standard retaining of 6m with just two steps, like fill the co-mixtures for half of retaining wall, and then fill the others after 1 day. The stability of retaining wall for overturning and sliding increased as the curing time elapsed.
This research forms preliminary data for the coordination of environmental color planning in industry through a color analysis of work clothes and the work environment. A digital camera was used to study the work environment of two major shipbuilding companies located in Geoje city and Goseong county. The picture data was analyzed as G (ground: environment) and F (figure: clothes), and analyzed hue, value, and the chroma value through a Muncell conversion 9.0.6 from the color cluster, number of pixel, and RGB value. The results are as follows: First, GY, Y color were mostly used in the shipbuilding environment and work clothes. The color value was used in a relatively wide range but very low chroma (0-3), dark grayish, grayish tone dominated both fields. Second, the use of limited colors cannot be secured for safety in attention of the shipbuilding field. Third, unclear and vogue colors lessened the optical tiredness of workers that helped in the prevention of industrial accidents. Color combination and color selection should be considered for a secure safety color coordination between work clothes and the work environment when it comes to complicated color principles.
Performance of panelists trained for cooked rice quality was evaluated using analysis of variance, correlation analysis, and principal component analysis. Each method offered different information. Results showed that panleists with high F ratios (p=0.05) did not always have high correlation coefficient (p=0.05) with mean values pooled from whole panel. The results of analysis of variance for the panelists whose performance were extremely good or extremely poor were consistent with those of correlation analysis. Outliers designated by principal component analysis were different from the panelists whose performance was defined as extremely good or extremely poor by analysis of variance and correlation analysis. The results of principal component analysis descriminated the panelists with different scoring range more than different scoring trends depending on the treatments. Our study suggested combination of analysis of variance and correlation analysis provided valid basis for screening panelists.
In this paper, cerium doped lutetium pyrosilicate (LPS) powders with cerium content (0.05 and 0.07 mol%) were prepared by sol-gel process. The formation of lutetium pyrosilicate (LPS) phase was confirmed by XRD analysis for the powders heated at $1,200^{\circ}C$; in these powders, a single phase of $Lu_2Si_2O_7$ (LPS) was observed. Cerium doped lutetium pyrosilicate (LPS) powder was agglomerated and constituted of small spherical particles with diameters of about 300 nm. The photoluminescence spectra of the $Lu_2Si_2O_7:Ce^{3+}$ powders showed the characteristic of excitation and there was an emission spectrum for $Ce^{3+}$ in the host of $Lu_2Si_2O_7$. The emission spectrum shows a broad band in the range of 350-525 nm; the broad wavelength on the right side of the spectra should be ascribed to the same 5d-4f transitions of $Ce^{3+}$, as in the case of cerium doped $Lu_2Si_2O_7$ single crystals.
