  • The purpose of this study was to analysis level on family caregiver's burden for the elderly with chronic disease in a rural area and to choose priority care group, thereby facilitating the development of interventions to reduce the caregiver's burden. For this purpose, data were collected by questionaire from June 10 to October 8, 1994. The instruments for data collection were Caregiver Burden Inventory by Novak(1989) and Zarit et al(1982), severity of dementia by Hughes Scales(1982), ADL by Lawton(1971), patients' family caregiving activity by pre-survey and reference review(Lee, 1993 ; Jang, 1990 ; Yoo, 1982). The subjects were 213 family caregiver of elderly with chronic disease in a rural area. The data was analysed by the use of t-test, ANOVA, correlation and multiple regression. The results were as follows ; 1. Total burden was evaluated below average, the mean of family burden was 46.98. By the diagnostic classification, Hypertension was 27.37, DM 32.46, CVA 62.96, Dementia 61.24. 2. Significant variables which were correlated to the family caregiver's burden were the patient's disease diagnosis (F=33.82, p<0.001), severity of dementia(F=30.52, p<0.001), the status of disease management(F=11.53, p<0.001), ADL(F=10.54, p<0.001), PADL(F=7.50, p<0.001), income(F=7.17, p<0.001), caregiver's health status(F=24.53, p<0.001), a view of patient's prognosis (F=22.17, p<0.001), relationship with the patient(F=33.82, p<0.001), the number of hours per day spent on caregiving(F=77.52, p<0.001), level of intimacy of caregiver and patients(F=8.75, p<0.001), level of helping(F=4.90, p<0.01), the frequency of caregiving activity(F=3.80, p<0.01), the number of admission(F=5.54, p<0.01), the length of caregiving(F=4.43, p<0.01), other chronic patient in family(t=2.81, p<0.01), caregiver's job(F=3.11, p<0.01), the duration of illness(F=2.98, p<0.05), caregiver's religion(F=2.93, p<0.05), medical security(F=3.89, p<0.05), caregiving's helper(t=2.42, p<0.05). 3. PADL was the most important predictor to family caregiver burden(R2=0.6611). In addition to this, IADL, caregiver's health status, the length of caregiving. level of intimacy of caregiver and patients, patient's age, the patient's disease diagnosis and patient's job accounted for 76% of family caregiver burden. 4. The criteria of priority care group were as follows ; the mean of family caregiver burden was above 58, above of moderate ADL, the number of hours per day spent on caregiving above of 8 hours, above of moderate dementia. • Hardy's inequality is refined non-trivially as the form $${\int_{0}^{{\infty}}}\{{\frac{1}{x}}{\int_{0}^{x}}f(t)dt\}^pdx{\leq}Q_f{\times}({\frac{p}{p-1}})^p{\int_{0}^{x}}f^p(x)dx$$ for some $Q_f:0{\leq}Q_f{\leq}1$. $P{\acute{o}}lya$-Knopp's inequality is also refined by the similar form.

  • In the present study we have attempted to explore the relationship between family support that young people receive and the level of Ego Identity that they develop. We started the present study with the purpose of providing parish nurses with some basic data for nursing intervention for family and school nursing, as well as for community health care. We conducted the present study during the period of October 15, 2001 through November 5, 2001. The objects of this study were Inmunge High School students chosen from a school in Daejon. The subject students were selected randomly from each grade in that school. The numbers of subjects selected were 120 boys and 113 girls (total: 233). The research tool that we used to measure perceived family support received by students was one that Ga Eon Lee revised for high school students on the basis of Cobb's theory. To measure the subject students' Ego Identity level we used Bong Yon Sho's 'Ego Identity Scale', that he revised from Dignan's 'Ego Identity Scale' for Korean high school students. Data were analyzed with SPSS Win 10.0 program using statistics of frequencies, percentage, t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson correlation coefficient. The findings of the present study indicate that: 1) The mean of family support that the subject students feel that they received was 39.99 on the family support scale, and the mean of the students on the Ego Identity scale was 186.16. 2) The support that the subjects received from their own family had a statistically significant correlation with their Ego Identity (r=.93, p=.00). 3) Various factors had a significant correlation with the level of family support perceived by the subjects: the subject's grade (F=3.35, p=.04), the subject's religion (t=6.39, p=.00), the family's economic situation (F=9.14, p=.00), the birth order (F=27.61. p=.00), the father's education (F=23.17, p=.00), the mother's education (F=28.70, p=.00), parental relationship (F=2657.03, p=.00), and the structure of the family (F=-9.65. p=.00). 4) Various factors had a significant correlation with the level of the subject's Ego Identity: the subjects religion (t=6.20, p=.00), the family's economic situation (F=12.56, p=.00), the birth order (F=22.85, p=.00), the father's education (F=10.37, p=.00), the mother's education (F=20.69, p=.00), parental relationship (F=938.73. p=.00), and the structure of the family (F=-8.74, p=.00). 5) Analyzing sources of support within the family, family members whom the subjects trust most (F=3.08, p=.03) and family members to whom they talk most (F=5.85, p=.00) showed the most significant differences. Analyzing sources of support within the family that affect the level of the subjects' Ego Identity, family members whom the subjects trust most (F=3.30. p=.02) and family members to whom they talk most also showed the most significant differences.

  • Let K be a real function field over a real closed field F. Then there exists an F-place .phi.:K.rarw.F.cup.{.inf.}. This is Lang's Existence of Rational Place Theorem (6). There is an equivalent version of Lang's Theorem in (4). That is, if K is a function field over a field F, then, for any ordering P$_{0}$ on F which extends to K, there exists an F-place .phi.: K.rarw.F'.cup.{.inf.} where F' is a real closure of (F, P$_{0}$). In [2], Knebusch pointed out the converse of the version of Lang's Theorem is also true. By a valuation theoretic approach to Lang's Theorem, we have found out the following generalization of Lang and Knebusch's Theorem. Let K be an arbitrary extension field of a field F. then an ordering P$_{0}$ on F can be extended to an ordering P on K if there exists an F-place of K into some real closed field R containing F. Of course R$^{2}$.cap.F=P$_{0}$. The restriction K being a function field of F is vanished, though the codomain of the F-place is slightly varied. Therefore our theorem is a generalization of Lang and Knebusch's theorem.

  • We characterize the boundedness and compactness of the weighted composition operator $uC_{\psi}$ from the general function space F(p, q, s) into the logarithmic Bloch space ${\beta}_L$ on the unit disk. Some necessary and sufficient conditions are given for which $uC_{\psi}$ is a bounded or a compact operator from F(p,q,s), $F_0$(p,q,s) into ${\beta}_L$, ${\beta}_L^0$ respectively.

  • Purpose : This study aims to find out the quality of life of patients admitted to the hospice unit at Kangnam St. Mary's Hospital, at admission and after weeks hospice service and to assess the effects of hospice service on the quality of life of terminal cancer patients. Methods : This study subjects were 100 patients admitted to the hospice unit at Kangnam St. Mary's Hospital, Catholic University between October 1999 and March 2000, and their primary caregivers. Quality of life data were collected using a questionnaire revised by the authors and were analyzed by means of repeated measures ANOVA. Results : 1) Patient's quality of life as perceived by the primary caregiver was significantly improved and the mean score was 3.31, 3.68, 3.56, 3.73, 3.75 at admission and week 1, 2, 3, 4. With the detailed item analysis, the following items were shown to be significantly improved: "clean bodies"(F=6.50, P=0.0001) "pain control"(F=18.01, P=0.0001) constipate"(F=2.96, P=0.0237) "sleep"(F=3.99, P=0.0048) "nausea/vomiting"(F=4.50, P=0.0022) "medical team's comfortable care" (F=3.95, P=0.0051) "family's care"(F=2.76, P=0.0317) "anxiety" (F=3.14, P=0.0177) "comfort"(F=3.63, P=0.0085) "treat with dignity"(F=3.32, P=0.0136). The item of "death is not the end of life rather the beginning" was significantly decreased(F=2.54, P=0.0450). 2) Patient's quality of life as perceived by the patient showed an improvement but statistically insignificant and the mean score was 3.63 and 3.83 at admission and week 1. With the detailed item analysis, the item of "pain control" was shown to be significantly improved(F=9.19, P=0.0251). 3) The quality of score in the last week of life of patient were 3.48, 3.51, 3.44, 3.46, 3.50, respectively, from 5 week prior to 1 week prior to death and these changes were insignificant. Conclusion : The findings of this study showed a positive effect of hospice service on quality of life of the terminal cancer patients admitted to the hospice unit. To improve the quality of life, we need first of all to develop hospice interventions with a particular emphasis on the spiritual aspect of patient. Secondly, measurement instruments need to be developed to collect the quality of life of the hospice patients who become weakened especially in the last weeks of their life and with this effort more representative data of hospice patients may be collected.

  • Let p be an odd prime. The algebraic structure of all negacyclic codes of length $8_{p^s}$ over the finite commutative chain ring ${\mathbb{F}}_{p^m}+u{\mathbb{F}}_{p^m}$ where $u^2=0$ is studied in this paper. Moreover, we classify all negacyclic codes of length $8_{p^s}$ over ${\mathbb{F}}_{p^m}+u{\mathbb{F}}_{p^m}$ into 5 cases, i.e., $p^m{\equiv}1$ (mod 16), $p^m{\equiv}3$, 11 (mod 16), $p^m{\equiv}5$, 13 (mod 16), $p^m{\equiv}7$, 15 (mod 16) and $p^m{\equiv}9$ (mod 16). From that, the structures of dual and some self-dual negacyclic codes and number of codewords of negacyclic codes are obtained.

  • The purpose of this paper is to define a new class of hyperholomorphic functions spaces, which will be called $F^{\alpha}_{{\omega},G}$(p, q, s) type spaces. For this class, we characterize hyperholomorphic weighted ${\alpha}$-Bloch functions by functions belonging to $F^{\alpha}_{{\omega},G}$(p, q, s) spaces under some mild conditions. Moreover, we give some essential properties for the extended weighted little ${\alpha}$-Bloch spaces. Also, we give the characterization for the hyperholomorphic weighted Bloch space by the integral norms of $F^{\alpha}_{{\omega},G}$(p, q, s) spaces of hyperholomorphic functions. Finally, we will give the relation between the hyperholomorphic ${\mathcal{B}}^{\alpha}_{{\omega},0}$ type spaces and the hyperholomorphic valued-functions space $F^{\alpha}_{{\omega},G}$(p, q, s).

  • In this paper, we solve and investigate the superstability of the p-radical functional equations $$f(\sqrt[p]{x^p+y^p})-f(\sqrt[p]{x^p-y^p})={\lambda}f(x)g(y),\\f(\sqrt[p]{x^p+y^p})-f(\sqrt[p]{x^p-y^p})={\lambda}g(x)f(y),$$ which is related to the trigonometric(Kim's type) functional equations, where p is an odd positive integer and f is a complex valued function. Furthermore, the results are extended to Banach algebras.
