In the search for novel, natural melanogenesis inhibitors, a new sesquiterpene, inularin, was isolated from the flowers of Inula britannica, and the structure was determined using spectroscopic and chemical methods. The antimelanogenic effects of inularin on B16F10 melanoma cells and zebrafish embryos were evaluated. Inularin dose-dependently reduced melanocyte-stimulating hormone-induced melanin production and L-DOPA oxidation in B16F10 cells. Zebrafish embryos were used to confirm the antimelanogenic activity. Inularin significantly decreased the pigmentation of embryos compared with untreated controls.

This paper attempts to examine the degree of chef's satisfaction on food purchasing in 5-star hotel in Seoul. Nowadays, hotel industry in Korea is becoming more and more competitive and the hotel products higher education. Among a range of divisions in deluxe hotel in Seoul, in particular, a F&B division has been more profitable than the others. It is widely accepted that the proportion of revenue obtained from F&B sales is higher than that of revenue from room sales. However, under the IMF intervention, hotels in Korea trend to depend on room sales rather than F&B sales in terms of profit. In such a environment, it is essential that F&B division should carefully seek for an appropriate purchasing procedure which will affect an organizational structure and allow the company to fulfill its goals. Moreover, it is timely their performance and quality of services through ideal food purchasing procedure. In this paper, the author uses a survey technique distributed to approximately 200 chefs who work at 5-stars hotel in Seoul. The author expects that this paper will contribute to the researchers or practitioners who might need a reference on the food purchasing system.

In our former paper, tremolitic talc, -wollastonite-clay system was studied. In this study blast furnace slag was used(B.F.S.) instead of wollastonite for developing a fast-firing wall tile body. The wall tile bodies consisting of tremolitic talc and B.F.S. asmajor constituents have been fired in the temperature range 1000-120$0^{\circ}C$. Some of these bodies have showed good properties for wall tile manufacture. According to the increased content of B.F.S the fired bodies have showed the decreased thermal expansion which was resulted from the fact that the amounts of diopside and anorthite were gradually increased and those of quartz relatively decreased. Being reasonable in low price and thermo-stable properties tremolitic talc and B.F.S. will be good materials for the fast-firing tile body.

Our aim is to establish certain image formulas of the (p, 𝜈)-extended Gauss' hypergeometric function F_p,𝜈(a, b; c; z) by using Saigo's hypergeometric fractional calculus (integral and differential) operators. Corresponding assertions for the classical Riemann-Liouville(R-L) and Erdélyi-Kober(E-K) fractional integral and differential operators are deduced. All the results are represented in terms of the Hadamard product of the (p, 𝜈)-extended Gauss's hypergeometric function F_p,𝜈(a, b; c; z) and Fox-Wright function _rΨ_s(z). We also established Jacobi and its particular assertions for the Gegenbauer and Legendre transforms of the (p, 𝜈)-extended Gauss' hypergeometric function F_p,𝜈(a, b; c; z).

This paper presents an approach to the classifications of small size document using the instance-based feature filtering Relief-F algorithm. In the document classifications, we have not always good classification performances of small size document included a few features. Because total number of feature in the document set is large, but feature count of each document is very small relatively, so the similarities between documents are very low when we use general assessment of similarity and classifiers. Specially, in the cases of the classification of web document in the directory service and the classification of the sectors that cannot connect with the original file after recovery hard-disk, we have not good classification performances. Thus, we propose the Extended Relief-F(ERelief-F) algorithm using instance-based feature filtering algorithm Relief-F to solve problems of Relief-F as preprocess of classification. For the performance comparison, we tested information gain, odds ratio and Relief-F for feature filtering and getting those feature values, and used kNN and SVM classifiers. In the experimental results, the Extended Relief-F(ERelief-F) algorithm, compared with the others, performed best for all of the datasets and reduced many irrelevant features from document sets.

Hybrid method of representing geometric entities as combination of boundary (B-rep) and functional (F-rep) representations is presented which can be used as a basis of solid modeling kernel. It contains whole functionality of classic B-rep kernel, and also supports enveloping (sweep of solid body). Principles and keysolutions are considered. Example of a real task that comes from gearing is provided.

This study investigated the water extracts of fallen pear (FPWE) on tyrosinase activity and melanogenesis. In the present study, we examined the effects of FPWE on mushroom tyrosinase activity in vitro, B16F10 melanoma cell tyrosinase activity, melanin contents, and expression of melanogenic enzyme proteins such as tyrosinase. An apparent down-regulatory effect on tyrosinase activity was observed when B16F10 cells were incubated with FPWE. Results of melanin assay using B16F10 cells treated with different concentrations (50, 125, and $250{\mu}g/mL$) of FPWE showed a dose-dependent decrease in melanin content. To determine whether or not FPWE indirectly affects tyrosinase activity, we assessed mushroom tyrosinase activity upon treatment with various concentrations (125, 250, 500, and $1,000{\mu}g/mL$) of FPWE. In addition, we investigated changes in the protein level of tyrosinase by using Western blotting. Tyrosinase and microphthalmia-associated transcription factor expression levels in B16F10 melanoma cells were reduced in a dose-dependent manner by FPWE. These results suggest that FPWE reduced melanin formation by inhibition of tyrosinase activity. Therefore, we suggest that FPWE could be used an effective whitening agent for skin.

At present, many countries around the world are legalizing cannabis and its products, and research on various treatments using cannabis is being actively conducted. However, the cannabis plant contains other compounds whose biological effects have not yet been established. We investigated the effect of cannabidiol (CBD) on hair growth in human dermal papilla cells (HDPCs). 2,2'-Azino-bis (3-ethylbenzothiazolin-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS) and 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging assays were performed to determine the antioxidant activity of CBD. The HDPCs viability of CBD was examined via water-soluble tetrazolium salt (WST-1) assay. The expression of hair-loss-related markers in HDPCs by CBD treatment was analyzed by real-time PCR and western blotting. The DPPH, ABTS radical scavenging activity assay showed that CBD had superior antioxidant activities. In HDPCs, CBD increased cellular proliferation at concentrations without cytotoxicity. It also increased the expressions of fibroblast growth factor 1 (FGF1), fibroblast growth factor 7 (FGF7), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), and insulin-like growth factor (IGF). These results correlated with a decrease in the expression of inhibition-related factors, such as androgen receptor (AR) and transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGF-B1). Moreover, CBD resulted in a significant increase in the phosphorylation of AKT and extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK). Therefore, it is suggested that CBD may be a potential remedy for the treatment of alopecia.
