The Purpose of this paper was to study the uses of the extra activity classroom of elementary school and the satisfaction of the students. The SPSS 10.0 for windows was used to analyze data collected from 397 elementary school students in Kunsan and Seocheon. The results were as follows: (1) More than 2/3 students have experienced special activities. The extra activity classroom was not effectively used showing less than one or two hours use a week for the lecture and extra activities. (2) Generally the students were satisfied at the condition of extra activity classroom, but dissatisfied with the degree of the independence, of deterioration, and of safety while moving. That is because the building and its equipment were old, and soundproofing and safety establishments were not well equipped. (3) There was difference between schools. Students at city had more satisfaction than at county. (4) The most important item of extra activity classroom was esthetics followed by function, safeness. and healthiness. It shows that the important item is being moved to esthetics and healthiness from function of extra activity classroom.

This study was carried out to investigate consciousness of users about management of multipurpose space introduced in open planned elementary school after the year of 1990's. Thirteen open planned elementary schools were participated through questionnaire and interviews. As the results, the positive response was maintained a superior position in the need of multipurpose space and changes of classroom management. Independence type in the arrangement of multipurpose space and the additional corridor type having extra moving line in comparison with the extensional corridor type were remarkably preferred, respectively. The consciousness of utilization about multipurpose space was comparatively low in a type having traffic line in surroundings of classroom compared to a type having entrance or a type having roundabout corridor. Finally, the group accepting changes positively showed high need to solve urgent problems about management of classroom.

The purpose of this study is to carry out the research of the satisfaction level of consumers (students and teachers) and managerial characteristics for model classes of the subject classroom system and to draw the effective plan of the system. The conclusions are as follows First, the biggest advantage of the system is to fulfill the educational goal according to an individual level and ability of each student while the biggest disadvantage is the inconvenience of students to change their classrooms for each specific class. Second, it is necessary to rearrange the classrooms according to the applied subjects from the aspect of curriculum management since the time frame is not convenient for recess. English and mathematics are required preferentially as applied subjects, however Korean (as a national language) and science are needed to be taught with level-differentiated classes, too. The ideal size of classes is most likely 20-25 students according to the result of research. Lastly, the space of environment is another requirement to secure smooth flow of students' movements and extra space for technical devices used for information research. The above analysis indicates the necessity of supplementation in space planning for further implementation of subject classroom system in secondary school.

Our society is changing into the society of knowledge and information since the advent of 21st century. This may require that schooling need to have a new paradigm. Korea has already entered into the aging society with the help of various population control policies such as birth control from 1960s, and is expecting to go into the so called ultra- aging society. Elementary and middle schools have been facing the rapid decrease in the number of students since the mid-1980s, which high schools are now confronting with. The present study investigates how to effectively utilize extra classrooms at schools. The present study offers eight basic directions that may help establish the utilization planning of extra classrooms. One direction is offering an appropriate space utilization environment, another is to present a plan for having special classrooms. Others are having multi-purpose classrooms, management on the unified rooms for library and audio-visual teaching, securing facilities rooms for the school staff. And others are the planning of the diversion of living space for improving sanitation and the provision of meals, the necessity of the extension or rebuilding of school buildings for other uses according to school development schemes, the utilization planning for community residents to which each school belong.
This research is focused on the development of Math teaching and/or learning materials in which the students are centered, not teachers, and which can, in turn, activate and reinforce the students' extra curricular Math activitie The findings I came to have through my research can be summarized as follows: 1. Math teaching and/or learning materials developed based on the students' interactions in the Math extra-curricular activities helped students to learn Math better and to be more interested in Math. 2. There was a positive attitude change toward Math on the side of the students after being introduced in and exposed to Math through the above mentioned Math teaching and/or learning materials. 3. There was a positive attitude change toward Math on the side of the students after being taught Math using the above mentioned Math teaching and/or learning materials. The suggestions I came to have through my research are as follows: 1. There need to be more consistent efforts in developing the Math teaching and/or learning materials which can be used in the Math extra-curricular activities. 2. There need to be more consistent efforts in developing the Math teaching and/or learning materials which can be used in the Math class as well as in Math extra-curricular activities. 4. This study was to find the difficulties students faced in their mathematical learning and to identify the instructional dimensions a teacher provided for the students from multi-cultural background. Since the study was focused on the process of students' learning, the qualitative method was chosen through clinical interviews with 2 students in a total of 11 units which played a role of compensating their learning of mathematics as an extra curriculum. The students solved the computational problems relying on formal procedure without understanding of concepts and principles and solved the word problems based on own interpretation of certain words without semantic comprehension out of math sentences. As the instructional dimensions of teaching mathematics, tasks, a tool and classroom norm were found in the activities they performed. For the tasks, situated tasks, challenging tasks, tasks with lack of conditions, and open-ended exploratory tasks were used. As the tool, pictorial representations were very useful to describe their ideas. Finally, as the classroom norm, consider equity for everyone, and cooperate and encourage each other were found.
Passive learning attitudes and lack of enthusiasm in a retailing math course is quite common and a significant number of students do express their frustrations and struggles by seeking extra help outside the classroom. In order to promote students' active participation in class and to improve their performance and overall satisfaction with the course, a modified team-based learning (TBL) method was implemented in a retailing math course in two consecutive semesters. Implementing TBL into a retailing math course would improve students' accountability for their own learning, increase student interactions and engagement, and develop teamwork and collaboration skills. The scores on the midterm and final tests indicated that students' performance improved especially for the students who scored below 80% on each test when TBL was implemented. Students' reflection on the TBL activities done in class throughout the semester indicated that these TBL activities help them solidify the concepts taught in class better. They were able to realize their own mistakes and other group members who got the question right helped them understand. To maximize the benefit of TBL, it is suggested to implement TBL within the flipped classroom. Further research is called for to evaluate the effect of TBL on long-term knowledge retention among college students.
This paper's research objective is to test educational content with different dimensions of knowledge during a graphic basic design course, while also proposing teaching plans and opinions for courses in flipped classrooms as well as enhancing educational efficiency. It categorizes educational content of courses based on the dimensions of knowledge in the learning objectives of Bloom's taxonomy. 120 students are divided into four experimental groups to respectively under go flipped classroom learning by using different dimensions of knowledge involved in course content. Course pretests and post tests are used to obtain and analyze experimental data. Among this knowledge, factual and conceptual knowledge obtained during extra curricular independent learning as well as programmed and meta-cognitive knowledge obtained during in-class learning from a flipped classroom can stimulate student's learning initiative and also enhance learning efficiency. According to research results and student feedback, this paper will propose targeted categorization methods for course content and also suggest educational strategies for these courses' flipped classroom model.

The article deals with the role of extra-curricular work by means of multimedia technologies in order to improve the quality of training of future specialists. An important condition for achieving high results in training specialists is the optimal combination of classroom and independent extra-curricular work of students by means of multimedia technologies. Very significant is the development of student independence, the formation of skills of independent search activity, the ability to take responsibility, independently solve a problem, find constructive solutions, a way out of a crisis situation, and so on. Extra-curricular work forms students' ability to master the techniques of analysis, synthesis, generalization, comparison; develops flexibility of thinking; opens up opportunities for the development and stabilization of positive learning motives to activate the process of mastering knowledge by means of multimedia technologies as a means of forming the personality of a highly qualified specialist. The concept of multimedia as one of the priority areas of Information Technology, which plays a particularly important role in the process of informatization of education, is revealed, and its advantages in education are shown. The advent of multimedia systems optimizes transformations in education, in many areas of professional activity, science, art, etc. The necessity of distance learning to improve the quality of training of future specialists using multimedia technologies in extra-curricular work is justified. The effectiveness of pedagogical support in the process of distance learning is achieved by the following conditions, which is revealed in the article. Various forms and types of extra-curricular work of students that are used in the modern practice of the educational environment of a higher education institution are described. Scientific and informational activity is considered a key area of information activity. The analysis of scientific and information activities in the field of education allows us to identify its main functions, which emphasize the growing role of scientific information in the education system, in particular, extra-curricular work using multimedia technologies. Operational, complete, accurate, targeted information that meets objective and subjective needs becomes an important link between the field of management, science and practice.
Instroduction: The purpose of this study was to investigate safety education-related backgrounds and safety behaviors of elementary school children at a local area in Jeonbuk province. Methods: Study subjects were 308 5th and 6th graders from 6 schools located in J City and the data were collected from June 16-27, 2003. Research instrument to test safety behaviors was 4-points summated scale (Cronbach${\alpha}$= .94) composed of 54-items with three sub-categories school life safety (${\alpha}$= .88), traffic safety (${\alpha}$= .86), and daily life safety (${\alpha}$= .84), The data was analyzed by percentage, x2-test, t-test, ANOVA and Duncan test using SPSS/PC 10.0. Results: 1. Safety Education-related Characteristics: Safety education was mostly conducted during extracurricular hour as picnic (37%) and regular class (37.2%); and the instructors of safety education were school nurse (33.2%), classroom teacher (30.9%), and parents (23.4%) in order. About two third (71.0%) of the subjects have had many kinds of school event program such as essay writing, poster drawing, oratorical contest in the course of safety education According to gender, girl students was more favorable about school events as a effective safety education measure (x2=9.188, p= .010); and according to school location, nural school taught more at moming & closing session (x2=7.383, p= .025), by school nurse or classroom teacher (x2=36.574, p= .001), and had more frequent (x2=63.337, p= .001) safety education class. 2. Practice of safety behaviors: Mean scores of safety behaviors was $106.9{\pm}24.92$ out of 162 points. According gender, the scores of girl students (t=-3.296, p= .001) were significant higher than boy students. But there was not any significant difference according to school area According to safety education-related characteristics, the scores of safety behaviors was significantly higher in the group who thought that school event program was more effective on safety education (F=4.024, p= .019), and who were more interested in current safety education class (F= 10.203, p= .001) Conclusions: From the above findings, the authors concluded that school-based safety education was mainly conducted at extra-curricular and regular class, and by school nurse or classroom teacher in elementary school. Even though the mean scores of safety behaviors of elementary school children was in medium level, those. were significant higher in girl students and in rural school children. And extra-curricular activities and school event programs were suggested as more effective strategies for school-based safety education Based on the above findings, safety education class can be recommended in regular curricular basis; and various extracurricular activities and school event programs need to be developed for more effective school-based safety education. In addition, further study on gender-specific factors on safety behaviors and nationwide survey on school-based safety education should be needed.
