Modern society has been transformed into a digital emotional society that could gradually be seen, felt, and enjoyed by the diversification of personal consumption desires due to digital development. Accordingly, in fashion, an original fashion sense that arose out of classical and conventional thinking has become important and there is an increasing interest in patchwork quilts. The purpose of this study lies in contributing to the development and utilization of creative and emotional fashion design by expanding the mental changes that have emerged in modern society to creative areas after analyzing the classification and expression characteristics of the type cases of patchwork quilt techniques expressed in modern fashion. In addition, it is meaningful to examine how the expressive characteristics of patchwork quilts are expressed in the digital emotion era. This study paralleled literature research and empirical case studies. In the scope and method of research, the theatrical research was centered on literature data. For visual data, website photos were collected, limited to women's clothing among the collections from Fall & Winter 2014 to Spring & Summer 2017. After drawing the expression types of patchwork quilts extracted from the previous research based on the design formative factors, the fashion-related expert group analyzed the expressive characteristics of 501 photographs in which the patchwork quilt of the designer clothing collection were reflected. As a result of analysis, the expressive types appeared in the order of diversification of techniques and materials, extended dual images, new formative composition, and reconstruction of traditional patchwork. In this study, the expressive characteristics of patchwork quilts expressed in contemporary fashion are analyzed and drawn as variability, compromise, convergence, and playfulness. Through this, it is hoped that this study can be used variously in the development of fashion design by expanding the interpretation of costume culture.
This study concerns visual humor in fake technique fashion. While previous studies focused mainly on expression techniques of fake technique fashion, this study analyzed visual humor in fake technique fashion based on classification criteria of visual humor expression techniques, differenting this study from other studies. The purpose of this study was to derive visual humor in fake technique fashion by classifying cases of fake technique fashion, and re-classifying outcomes of primary classification based on criteria of visual humor expression techniques. As for methods, this theoretical study was conducted on humor, expression techniques of visual humor, fake fashion and fake expression techniques through literature review. Subsequently, 485 fake technique fashion images obtained from research were classified by expression techniques, and cases of fake technique fashion were analyzed. In addition, by combining this theoretical study with case studies, fake technique fashion was re-classified according to criteria of visual humor expression techniques to derive the characteristics of visual humor in fake technique fashion. Based on visual humor expression techniques, visual humor in fake technique fashion was created by distortion and transformation that made the fake look real by distorting or transforming the fake, enlargement and reduction that created new forms by altering familiar forms, and typeplay that added fun by changing familiar luxury logos into various forms.
The purposes of this study are to consider characteristics of 'movement expression' that are not discovered in preceeding design studies in order to suggest 'movement expression' as a design formative principal and to make clothes which follows this idea. For the method of this study I used various literature about 'movement expression' as theoretical background and analyzed modern clothing in which 'movement expression' is expressed by collecting magazines including foreign collections from 1989 to 2004 and searching the internet. The results obtained from this study is as follows. First, clothing in which 'movement expression' is expressed removes monotony and tedium of clothing design, provides visual interest and satisfaction for clothing, and delivers designers' concept effectively by attracting a gaze quickly. And It is suggested a new division of 'movement expression' through analysis of the 'movement expression' expressed in clothing. It included the intentional movement by wearers, which is the 'movement expression' of broader meaning such as changes of form or position by a certain operation and changes of existence or function. This movement is not fixed and repeated but changes continuously. As a result of including the design expressing the intentional movement by wearers, one's own personality can be expressed more effectively. It is presented a design which has changeable movement expression continuously.
The purpose of this study clarifies an expression characteristic of the phenomenal space. The architecture is an interface between human and nature. Nature presents herself as phenomena. Thus, the phenomenal space should be approached as the essence of architecture that is to accommodate nature. Phenomenon is related to everyday life and shares flow naturally within it. The phenomenon and everyday life form a relationship through the mediating elements that are time, place, and image. If these mediating elements are developed as spatialized elements, time becomes the converse, place becomes the overlap, and shape becomes the revealing. Also, spatial components that are substituted with these elements are void/solid, form, and materials. The relational characteristics of phenomenal space can be identified through these, and such characteristics are one-ness, continuity, and coincidence of opposites. Phenomenal space is expressed with spatial tones and accepted as spatial atmospheres. For the analysis, 15 works of swiss architects were selected to which spatial elements were applied. And It were composed that analysis by arranging these components as the relational network found that expression characteristics. Trough the analysis, It was found that expression characteristics of phenomenal space of the architecture of Swiss architects were prototypicality, primitiveness, and originality. As a results, It is considered that the role of the space that contains the value of everyday life, the value of the phenomenon is necessary.
Recently, in the fields of fashion, advertisement, film, literature, philosophy, etc., the word, 'Nomad', is being used frequently across the overall society. The contemporary society is actively incorporating "nomadic thinking" as a new social phenomenon across the boundaries of conventional fields. This is not an exception in the field of space design. This study, via the contemporary nomadic thinking, examined the relationship between space design's application possibility as a new trend and flexible space; then categorized the characteristics of flexible space into flexibility, temporariness, changeability, and correlation; and then analyzed expression characteristics of flexible space. As for unrestricted expression of scene, it was recognized that separation of scene and space leads space to meet the needs of surrounding environment and users; formation of changeable space enables uses of space from various perspectives; and combining external factors (energy, media technologies) with space leads space to self-evolution. Space is perceived as an living organism that is flexibly corresponding, via realistic movement and virtual movement, to the indefinite, diversified thinking of the contemporary society. Therefore, this study illuminates that nomadic thinking has significance as basic thinking to predict development and characteristics of design thinking through understanding the contemporary society with the basic thinking system that has been inherent without restrictions of being fixed to the present, past, and future.
This study is based on the way Kim Kwang Soo works, which reveals a strong expressive tone that is rare in Korean architecture. His work is not decorative and symbolic representation of the intention of positive amusement. Therefore, the following noteworthy points will arise. The various phenomena associated with architecture and society are researched and analyzed in a critical manner. So, it creates and expresses its own formal logic. In this study, the theory of the subversive appropriation theory was identified by using the expressive characteristics of engagement. The study was based on a conceptual framework for the overturning of the mimesis, which Benjamin and Adorno have described. From this, this study summarizes Kim Kwang Soo's nihilistic attitude, finding boundaries and crack points, and subversive expression as a new form of architectural formal logic as main characteristics of interpretation of works. The characteristics of subversive expression of Kim Kwang Soo architecture derived from this are as follows. It does not take an ideological approach to the dismantling of the internalization of traditional Korean architecture. Popular culture and social phenomena are used as materials for expression. These are structured sensibly with appropriated formal logic. Finally, the architectural position adhered to the limit of performativity was recognized as the dimension of new meaning generation.
This study aimed to analyze the expression of Hybrid in Contemporary Hair Design that is one kind of total fashion. In this research, by background of the hybrid characteristics of the messes culture art, the hybrid characteristics of the hair design has been defined as characters which is the mixture of timeless spaces, styles, sexes, unsuitable elements and cultures. The results of analysis by the expression of the hybrid hair design after 2000 is like this. As the researching, the hybrid characteristics of the hair design by the mixture of unsuitable elements and styles have been presented the highest. The result of the frequency of the apparition in the hair design molding elements according to the expression of the hybrid hair design, the hybrid characteristics of the unsuitable elements and style has been presented ideological form and the artificial form was the highest. The case of the hybrid of the activated texture, the unsuitable elements, style and timeless space has been presented excellently one after another. In the color tone, the mixture of the style, the unsuitable elements and timeless space has been presented one by one. The case of the hybrid of the image, the unsuitable elements that is the highest the frequency of the apparition was presented the image of the avant-garde, the fantastic and humor one after another.
This purpose of this study was to analyze the formation and look into design characteristics by types and method of expression on multifunctional eco-friendly fashion design. Total 191 pieces of multifunctional fashion design photographs were collected through fashion collection from 2000 S/S to S/S 2010 F/W on the website. First, the characteristics of multifunctional eco-friendly fashion design used squared silhouette, achromatic colors, plain patterns for pollution control, hard materials to prolong the product, it was clear that details were minimized to save resources. Second, there were 5 changeable types of multifunctional eco-friendly fashion design which were changes in changing forms, material changes, item changes, detail changes and complex changes. Third, as the result of changeable types by method of expression, the changing forms were expressed by removable, material changes by reversible, detail changes by open and close and item changes by shifting. Forth, the formative properties of multifunctional eco-friendly fashion design had flexibility, multifunction, versatility and amusing. Therefore, this study will be helpful in planning multifunctional eco-friendly fashion design according to the kind of formative characteristics, changeable types, method of expression and provide concrete fundamental materials for the expert in clothing on the base of objective data through statistical analysis.

In this study, I tried to analyze the characteristics of modem punk fashion by applying characteristics of modem cultural phenomena. The method of this study is the qualitative study: I analyzed collections from 1996 to 2003 by suggesting an analysis frame based on bibliological studies and applying internet photo materials to the analysis frame. As a result, modem punk fashion has the following characteristics. First, it tends to promote things that are entirely different from the previous expression methods by using the overlapping of texts combined with things that are heterogeneous. Second, the scope of its decoration has been expanded with the aid of the expression method, in which the objects that had not been used as decoration previously have been transformed into media. Third, the appearance of non-mainstream group who has suggested the anti-mainstream thought that violates the uniformed beauty of punk group has expanded the scope of classes that accept the punk fashion. Lastly, clothes, wigs and accessories have been commercialized through the permanent modification that used to signify resistance and disgust such as the expression methods of image replicas using tattoo, piercing, and transformation of hair. In doing so, punk fashion has been generalized and popularized. Such modem punk fashion reflects the change of society such as social transformation that is occupied by images thanks to its complexity and pluralism and the development of public media.
Contemporary design of food and beverage(F&B) space reflects various needs, not only of eating, but also environmental ones. As a way of meeting this conceptual change and the various needs of contemporary consumers, kitsch expression is often utilized actively. Thus, this study intends to analyze the design characteristics and methods of kitsch expression found in contemporary F&B space and their correlations with sensitivity factors, focusing on relevant cases. Specifically, it examined the definition, origin, and changes of kitsch, and identified the sensitive role of kitsch in interior space. Next, it classified the kitsch characteristics and design methods found in interior design, finally analyzing the characteristics of kitsch expressions in contemporary F&B space by sensitivity factors and their correlations with design methods. As a consequence, it was found that the attempts in contemporary F&B space design to differentiate space through active introduction of various kitsch expressions were fulfilling the sensitive needs of changing consumers by providing new cultural experiences. That is, such attempts are considered to have improved the satisfaction of consumers who value sensitivity, by means of wide exchange of sensitivity between designers and consumers. To raise the sensitive satisfaction of consumers more in future, it is necessary to further continuous and in-depth research on the correlation between kitsch expressions and sensitivity factors in interior design.
