THREE-DIMENSIONAL SIMULATION OF A ROTATING CORE-COLLAPSE SUPERNOVA

  • Multi-dimensionality in the inner working of core-collapse supernovae has long been considered one of the most important ingredients to understand the explosion mechanism. We perform a series of numerical experiments to explore how rotation impacts the 3-dimensional hydrodynamics of core-collapse supernova. We employ a light-bulb scheme to trigger explosions and a three-species neutrino leakage scheme to treat deleptonization effects and neutrino losses from the neutron star interior. We find that the rotation can help the onset of neutrino-driven explosions for models in which the initial angular momentum is matched to that obtained from recent stellar evolutionary calculations (${\sim}0.3-3rad\;s^{-1}$ at the center). For models with larger initial angular momenta, a shock surface deforms to be oblate due to larger centrifugal force. This makes a gain region, in which matter gains energy from neutrinos, more concentrated around the equatorial plane. As a result, the preferred direction of the explosion in 3-dimensional rotating models is perpendicular to the spin axis, which is in sharp contrast to the polar explosions around the axis that are often obtained from 2-dimensional simulations.

  • Underwater explosion shock response analysis of a nonlinear double resiliently mounted equipment on a MIL-S-901D Large floating Shock Platform(LFSP) was carried out using LS-DYNA3D/USA. As a nonlinear double resiliently mounted equipment, real main engine module of naval ship was considered, where the engine, bearing, and base frame including sound enclosure were treated as rigid bodies with six degrees of freedom. The nonlinear effects of resilient mounts on its shock response characteristics were examined, and the usefulness of our suggested method was also confirmed comparing with calculation results by the equipment maker.

  • The explosion of a nuclear weapon radiates a gamma-ray in the form of a transient pulse. If the gamma-ray introduces to semiconductor devices, much Electron-Hole Pairs(EHPs) are generated in depletion region of the devices[7]. as a consequence of that, high photocurrent is created and causes upset, latchup and burnout of semiconductor devices[8]. This phenomenon is known for Transient Radiation Effects on Electronics(TREE), also called dose-rate effects. In this paper 3D structure of inverter and NAND gate device was designed and transient pulse gamma-ray was modeled. So simulation for transient radiation effect on inverter and NAND gate was accomplished and mechanism for upset and latchup was analyzed.

  • 수소는 다른 연료에 비해 에너지효율이 높고 유해물질이 배출되지 않아 미래의 청정에너지원으로 인식되고 있다. 그러나 수소는 밀도가 낮아 운반 및 저장시에 부피가 커서 압축하거나 특별한 운반체를 사용해야 하며, 공기중에 노출 시 화재나 폭발의 위험성이 있다. 수소-공기 혼합물의 폭발에 관한 실험이나 수치해석적 연구가 진행되어 오고 실물 수소 충전소를 대상으로 한 폭발 시뮬레이션에 관한 연구사례는 극히 드물다. 본 연구에서는 실제 수소 충전소를 대상으로 Lidar 스캐닝을 수행하여 point cloud 데이터를 획득하고 수소 충전소 3 차원 구조 모델을 작성한다. 3 차원 구조모델은 Ansys 사 AUTODYN 에 적용되어 수소 충전소의 수소폭발을 가정한 TNT 등가량의 폭발 시뮬레이션을 실시하고 주변에 전파하는 폭발압력을 계산하여, 수소 충전소 폭발에의한 주변 보안 건물의 안전거리에 관한 정보를 제공한다.

Measurements on Effects of Locations of Obstacles in an Explosion Chamber

  • 폭발챔버에서 전파하는 화염과 장애물 위치 및 형태에 따른 상관관계를 조사하기 위해 폭발실험을 수행하였다. 챔버내에 장애물 설치 위치는 점화원으로부터 상부로 200 mm, 500 mm, 800 mm 높이로 변화를 주어 설치하였고, 장애물 형태는 삼각기둥, 사각기둥 및 원통형으로 변화시켰다. 전파하는 화염과 장애물 위치 및 형태에 따른 상관관계를 조사하기 위해 고속카메라를 사용하였다. 고속카메라로 얻어진 화염 이미지로부터 장애물 주위의 국부 화염속도 및 그 화염속도의 확률밀도함수가 계산되었다. 실험결과, 장애물이 800 mm에 위치하였을 때 화염속도 및 폭발압력이 가장 높게, 200 mm에서는 가장 낮게 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 폭발거동 특성이 장애물 위치에 큰 의존성을 가지는 것으로 해석될 수 있다. 또한, 장애물 형태가 삼각형이었을 때 화염속도 및 폭발압력이 가장 높게, 원형에서는 가장 낮게 나타났다.

다차종 동시 충전을 위한 수소 스테이션의 안전 영향 평가 연구 (A Study on Safety Impact Assessment of a Multiple Hydrogen Refueling Station)

  • 수소전기차의 보급 확대가 빠르게 이루어지며 수소충전소의 모델 또한 다양화되고 있다. 이에 따라 종류별 수소 충전소의 안전에 대한 이슈가 대두되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 승용·버스·트럭 등 다차종 동시 수소충전이 가능한 수소 스테이션의 정량적 위험성평가를 진행하였다. 정량적 위험성평가에 범용적으로 사용되는 Gexcon 사(社)의 Effects&Riskcurves Software를 활용하여 수소 누출에 따른 화재, 폭발 등의 시나리오를 부여하였다. 이를 통해 복사 열, 폭발 과압에 의한 피해 영향 거리를 계산해냈으며, 주변 건물 및 인구에 미치는 위험도를 측정하였다. 피해 영향 거리가 가장 크게 나타난 것은 충전설비 및 고압 압축가스 설비의 화재 및 폭발이었으며 개인적 및 사회적 위험도에 가장 크게 기여한 설비는 고압 압축가스 설비로 나타났다. 이에 따라 충전설비 및 압축가스 설비에 대한 안전거리를 보수적으로 책정하며 적절한 방호조치를 설치한다면 수소 누출 사고 발생 시 인적·물적 피해 최소화에 기여할 수 있을 것으로 검토된다.

FCW의 가스 발생제가 스패터링에 미치는 영향 (Effects of gas formers of flux cored wire on spattering)

  • Effects of gas formers of MgCO$_3$, CaCO$_3$ and Li$_2$CO$_3$ on the spattering phenomena were investigated for non-shielded flux cored arc welding. Spattering phenomena were pictured using high speed camera as a speed of 3000 frames per sec. As experimental results, spattering modes were classified into 4 types. The modes were spattering by arc force, gas explosion, short circuit and pore escape. The amount of spatters by arc force was 30%, gas blowing force was 40%, short circuit 10%, pore escape was 10% and others were 10%. When Li$_2$CO$_3$ was added, the amount of spatters was largest, and it decreased in the order of CaCO$_3$ and MgCO$_3$.

과도방사선에 의한 CMOS 소자 Latch-up 모델 연구 (A Study of CMOS Device Latch-up Model with Transient Radiation)

  • Transient radiation is emitted during a nuclear explosion. Transient radiation causes a fatal error in the CMOS circuit as a Upset and Latch-up. In this paper, transient radiation NMOS, PMOS, INVERTER SPICE model was proposed on the basisi of transient radiation effects analysis using TCAD(Technology Computer Aided Design). Photocurrent generated from the MOSFET internal PN junction was expressed to the current source and Latch-up phenomenon in the INVERTER was expressed to parasitic thyristor for the transient radiation SPICE model. For example, the proposed transient radiation SPICE model was applied to CMOS NAND circuit. SPICE simulated characteristics were similar to the TCAD simulation results. Simulation time was reduced to 120 times compared to TCAD simulation.

  • The LPG station's explosion at Bucheon city was a major accident which with rare frequency of occurrence but large damage effect. Therefore, to prevent similar accident in the future from LPG chargings stations which located at inner urban area, it needs to identify the damage effects of such facilities by comparing theoretically quantities risks-PHAST. The BLEVE effects from the accident showed similar level in case of heat flux, however, the over pressure level reflected at reduced distance. The structure damage to the nearby area showed comparatively large reduction of concrete strength and shape changes through by heat effect while the overpressure effect was small.

  • Widespread propagation of failure can be triggered by localized damage to a structure because of fires, impact and explosion etc. In this paper, the progressive collapse analysis program is developed to automatically check the failed members and construct the modified structural model at each step. OpenSees, that is widely used in many research groups, was used for the developed progressive collapse analysis control program. The control program developed in this study automatically computes the damage indices of all the structural members and performance a progressive collapse analysis after the first failed member is selected. Using the developed program, we compared the progressive collapse behaviors of the example structures considering dynamic effects or not, and the difference of progressive collapse mechanism according to the modeling method of the failed members.
