  • Since interstellar objects like 1I/'Oumuamua and 2I/Borisov originate from exoplanetary systems, even if we do not visit the exoplanetary systems, flyby, rendezvous, and sample return missions of interstellar objects can provide clues to solve the mysteries of cosmic life phenomena such as the origin of exoplanetary systems, galactic evolution, biosignatures (or even technosignatures), and panspermia. In this paper, we review space missions for interstellar object exploration in the stage of mission design or concept study such as Project Lyra, Bridge, Comet Interceptors, and LightcraftTM. We also review space missions, OSIRIS-REx and NEA Scout, designed for Near Earth Asteroids(NEA) explorations, to investigate the current state of basic technologies that can be extended to explore interstellar objects in a velocity of ~ 6AU/year. One of the technologies that needs to be developed for interstellar object exploration is a spacecraft propulsion method such as solar sail, which can catch up with the fast speed of interstellar objects. If this kind of propulsion becomes practical for space explorations, interstellar object explorations will mark a new era and serve as a driving force to provide evidences of cosmic life.

  • Telemetry link requires high data rate to transmit the multimedia data for lunar explorations in space communications. In this paper, we analyze a data rate with the modulation and channel coding schemes based on Consultative Committee for Space Data Systems (CCSDS) in S, X, Ku and Ka bands, respectively. Then, we suggests modulation and channel coding schemes to meet the link margins and have a maximum data rate for lunar explorations in telemetry links.

  • This paper presents a hierarchical structuring method for the multidimensional type inheritance indices (MD-TIXs) that support the processing of XML queries in XML databases. MD-TIX uses a multidimensional index structure for efficiently supporting ancestor-descendant explorations that involve both nested element and type inheritance hierarchies. However, In the case of a long Xpath, the building and maintenance of MD-TIX are very difficult because of index entry construction problem. So, we propose a type inheritance index hierarchy method for solving this difficulty. We first construct base indices that support direct relationship explorations between adjacent two types on a given Xpath, and then, based on these base indices, we construct hierarchically the derived indices that support indirect relationship explorations between any two types of Xpath until constructing one target index for supporting the full Xpath. And we also present an algorithm that efficiently constructs a partial index hierarchy for supporting given a set of sub-pathes explorations.

  • Using computer technology in teaching school mathematics creates new instructional environments. The emphases on the use of computer technology in the classrooms and in particular the use of computer-based exploration as a context of mathematics instruction have been reflected in the recommendation of the NCTM (Curriculum and Evaluation Standards for School Mathematics, 1989). Although the power of using computer technology in the exploration of mathematical problems has been recognized and stressed by many educators, we do not have many research studies on mathematics in computer-based explorations. Especially research has failed to clarify how computer technology can contribute to the construction of procedural and conceptual knowledge of mathematics. Up to now most researches on procedural and conceptual knowledge in computer environments have only focused on classifying programming languages which program language has more random access and rich interrelationship characteristic in relation to conceptual knowledge in humans, and which computer language has more characteristic flavor of procedural knowledge. How computer-based explorations affect the knowledge construction of mathematics, therefore, emerges as an issue of research on teacher education program for theoretical framework. This situation leads to do research on the effectiveness of using computer explorations in pre-service teacher education in terms of procedural and conceptual knowledge construction.

  • In this research, one common chapter, Problem Solving and Programming, in seven different types of high school informatics textbooks was analyzed in terms of the aspect of learners' explorations. These textbooks were newly developed based on the 2015 revised national curriculum. Romey's analysis was used to the textbooks along with four analytic elements: texts, data, activities, and evaluation. The study results showed that the textbooks can highly encourage learners' further explorations according to the four analytic elements reflected in the seven textbooks: one out of the six textbooks well designed for texts, three for data, six for activities, two for evaluation. In terms of Romey's involvement index points, six of the seven textbooks had low indexes of texts, ranging from 0.175 to 0.393. Data indexes were extremely low in four out of the seven textbooks, ranging from 0.058 to 0.226. Five out of the seven textbooks had very high indexes of evaluation in the broad range of 2 to 6.333 points. Furthermore, these newly designed textbooks can more greatly facilitate students' explorations than previously existing textbooks in three elements: texts, data, and activities. Evaluation indexes significantly increased in these new textbooks from 0.916 to 3.914, which had excessive points in terms of promoting students' explorations. Further methods to improve the textbook quality is proposed based on the results from this analysis.

  • The School of Mathematical Sciences at University Sains Malaysia has offered a laboratory course on the integration of hand-held technology into the teaching and learning of mathematics since the beginning of the 2001/2002 academic year. This inquiry-based course highlights the explorations and application of mathematics in a data rich modeling environment. In addition, the course addresses several issues related to the effective integration of such technology into the mathematics curriculum. This paper discusses the appropriate use of graphing technology to present mathematical concepts and to support student's understanding in a student-centered learning environment, shares knowledge on the new mathematics that was made possible by hand-held technology, and summarizes student reactions to this innovative learning mode.

  • In this paper, we present the scenario designs of the possibility of space communications for Korean Lunar Explorer and the analysis of its performance, depending upon the explorer's position within the moon's orbit after being launched from earth. As per each scenario, we would like to propose the analysis of the possible communication times and total transmission throughput data per day in two cases: one for using DSN and another for using only Korean's ground station.

  • It has been common since ancient times to use fashion accessories to make a positive impression on others and develop personal brands. For this manuscript, I've designed a range of personalized electronic sounds and perfume accessories that use personalized scents and sounds to create memorable experiences. These have built-in auditory and olfactory actuators that can generate unique sound and fragrance signatures from the wearer and the other party. Based on the design explorations, I also discussed the issues of design and implementation of personalized electronic sound and fragrance accessories, as well as issues and additional business opportunities for the use of these personalized electronic sound and odor accessories in everyday life.

  • Many countries of the world have been launched the competition of space development and Korea also has a plan for the launch of Lunar orbiter in 2020 and Lunar lander in 2025 for Lunar explorations. For the success of the planned Lunar exploration, we need to enhance the required deep space communication technologies. To achieve our goals, we should develop space communications system and Korean DSN (deep space network) based on experiences and technologies through cooperation with the advanced countries in the field of deep space exploration. In this paper, we investigate overseas DSNs and deep space communication systems, and present the link margin and other technical requirements for successful DSN deployment. In addition, we propose a best strategy to secure domestic ground stations for the Korean Lunar exploration missions.
