On a new fourth order self-adaptive time integration algorithm

  • An explicit 4th order time integration scheme for solving the convection-diffusion equation is discussed in this paper. A system of ordinary differential equations are derived first by discretizing the spatial derivatives of the relevant PDE using the finite difference method. The integration of the ODEs is then carried out using a 4th order scheme and a self-adaptive technique based on the spatial grid spacing. For a non-uniform spatial grid, different time step sizes are used for the integration of the ODEs defined at different spatial points, which improves the computational efficiency significantly. A numerical example is also discussed in the paper to demonstrate the implementation and effectiveness of the method.

Unconditional stability for explicit pseudodynamic testing

  • In this study, a newly developed unconditionally stable explicit method is employed to solve momentum equations of motion in performing pseudodynamic tests. Due to the explicitness of each time step this pseudodynamic algorithm can be explicitly implemented, and thus its implementation is simple when compared to an implicit pseudodynamic algorithm. In addition, the unconditional stability might be the most promising property of this algorithm in performing pseudodynamic tests. Furthermore, it can have the improved properties if using momentum equations of motion instead of force equations of motion for the step-by-step integration. These characteristics are thoroughly verified analytically and/or numerically. In addition, actual pseudodynamic tests are performed to confirm the superiority of this pseudodynamic algorithm.

  • In the recent sheet metal forming simulations, it increases to adopt the dynamic explicit method for an effective computation and the elastic-plastic formulation for stress recovery. It is inevitable in the dynamic explicit method that some noises occur and sometimes partly spoil results of simulations. It is severer when complicated contact conditions are included in simulations. An effective method to control these noises is introduction of damping effects. In this paper, the concept of contact damping is introduced in order to suppress noises due to complicated contact conditions. This is checked by analyzing a simple sheet metal forming process(U-bending). From the computational results, it is shown that the contact damping can effectively control the noises due to contacts and develop more reliable internal stress states.

  • In this paper, we define a parametric variant of generalized Euler sums and construct contour integration to give some explicit evaluations of these parametric Euler sums. In particular, we establish several explicit formulas of (Hurwitz) zeta functions, linear and quadratic parametric Euler sums. Furthermore, we also give an explicit evaluation of alternating double zeta values ${\zeta}({\bar{2j}};\,2m+1)$ in terms of a combination of alternating Riemann zeta values by using the parametric Euler sums.

자동차의 Crashworthiness 해석을 위한 Pinball Contact-Impact

  • 공학분야에서 흔히 접하게 되는 접촉충격 문제들의 해석을 위해 접촉충격의 지배방정식과 효율적인 해석방법인 pinball contact-impact 알고리즘에 대해 기술하였다. 예제로 보여준 충돌하는 두 구조계의 접촉충격 해석과 자동차의 crashworthiness 해석결과들은 전술한 알고리즘이 매우 효율적임을 입증하고 있다. 자동차의 crashworthiness 해석과 같이 해석대상 모델이 크고 복잡한 경우에는 짧은 경과시간 동안의 거동변화를 파악하고자 하더라도 엄청난 계산시간이 소요된다. 따라서 효율적인 crashworthiness 해석을 위해서는 전술한 접촉충격 알고리즘 외에도, 논외의 대상이라 본문에서 소개하지는 않았으나, 강력한 요소(one-point integration element), 효과적인 비선형 동적해석 알고리즘, 해의 정확도를 높일 수 있는 adaptive method, 효율적인 시간적분을 위한 mixed time integration method(subcycling)와 explicit method 등을 복합적으로 혼합하여 사용하여야 한다.

  • 탄소성 유한 요소 해석은 기지의 변형률 증분에 대한 응력 적분을 필요로 하며, 탄소성 구성 모델의 경우 특별한 경우를 제외하고는 해석적인 응력 적분이 불가능하고 수치적인 방법을 필요로 한다. 이때 응력 수치 적분의 정확도가 비선형 유한요소해의 전체적인 정확도에 상당히 큰 영향을 미치게 된다. 본 연구에서는 탄소성 구성 관계의 응력 적분을 위하여 외연적 방법중의 하나로서 Sloan이 제안한 단계분할 절차를 보완하여 안정적이고 정착한 응력 수치 적분법을 제시하고자 한다. 수정 오일러 절차에 따른 오차 조절의 기본 개념은 그대로 사용하고 오차를 평가하는 기준에 응력 수준이 영향을 미치는 단점을 보완하여 응력 수준에 관계없는 안정적이고 정확한 수치 적분법을 제시하였으며, 그 결과의 신뢰성을 삼축시험모사를 이용하여 검증하였다.

  • In this paper, a program for real time simulation of a vehicle is developed. The program uses relative coordinates and BEF(Backward Difference Formula) numerical integration method. Numerical tests showed that the proposed implicit method is more stable in carring out the numerical integration for vehicl dynamics than the explicit method. Hardware requirements for real time simulation are suggested. Algorithms of parallel processing is developed with DSP (digital signal processor).

  • It is desirable to predict springback quantitatively and accurately for the tool and process design in sheet stamping operations, however, it is blown very difficult. The result of springback analysis by the finite element method is sensitively influenced by numerical factors such as blank element size, number of integration point, punch velocity, contact algorithm etc. In the present work, a parametric study by Taguchi method is performed in order to evaluate the influence of numerical factors on springback Quantitatively and to obtain the combination of numerical factors which yields the best approximation to experimental data. Since springback is determined by the residual stress after forming process, it is important to evaluate stress distribution accurately. The oscillation in the time history curve of stress obtained by explicit FEM says that the stress solution at termination time is in very unstable state. Therefore, a variability study is also carried out in this study in order to assess the stability of implicit springback analysis starting from the stress solution by explicit forming simulation. The 2D draw bending process, one of the NUMISHEET '93 benchmark problems, is adopted as an application model.

The Reaction Probability and the Reaction Cross-section of N + O2→ NO + O Reaction Computed by the 6th-order Explicit Symplectic Algorithm

  • We have calculated the reaction probability and the reaction cross-section of the $N(^4S)+O_2(X^3\sum_{g}^{-})\;\rightarrow\;NO(X^2\Pi)+O(^3P)$ reaction by the quasiclassical trajectory method with the 6th-order explicit symplectic algorithm, based on a new ground potential energy surface. The advantage of the 6th-order explicit symplectic algorithm, conserving both the total energy and the total angular momentum of the reaction system during the numerical integration of canonical equations, has firstly analyzed in this work, which make the calculation of the reaction probability more reliable. The variation of the reaction probability with the impact parameter and the influence of the relative translational energy on the reaction cross-section of the reaction have been discussed in detail. And the fact is found by the comparison that the reaction probability and the reaction cross-section of the reaction estimated in this work are more reasonable than the theoretical ones determined by Gilibert et al.

연약지반을 고려한 차량 실시간 시뮬레이터 개발 (Development of Realtime Simulator for Multibody Dynamics Analysis of Wheeled Vehicle on Soft Soil)

  • A realtime simulator using an explicit integration method is introduced to improve the solving performance for the dynamic analysis of a wheeled vehicle. Because a full vehicle system has many parts, the development of a numerical technique for multiple d.o.f. and ground contacts has been required to achieve a realtime dynamics analysis. This study proposes an efficient realtime solving technique that considers the wheeled vehicle dynamics behavior with full degrees of freedom and wheel contact with soft ground such as sand or undersea ground. A combat vehicle was developed to verify this method, and its dynamics results are compared with commercial programs using implicit integration methods. The combat vehicle consists of a chassis, double wishbone type front and rear suspension, and drive train. Some cases of vehicle dynamics analysis are carried out to verify the realtime ratio.
