A Study on Applicability of EEG Spectral Relative Power as a Measure of Expertise Level (뇌파 상대 스펙트럼의 숙련도 평가 척도로의 이용 가능성에 대한 연구)

  • The objective of this paper is to study if the EEG spectral relative power would be a reasonable measure of expertise level. EEG electrodes were placed on the locations of Fp1, Fp2, F3, F4, T3, T4, O1, O2 while 5 subjects were playing 4 kinds of game on PC. EEG spectral relative power was significantly related with expertise level on the locations of Fp1, T3, T4, O1, O2. And the results showed that the $\theta$ and $\alpha$ activities were decreased, while $\beta$ and $\gamma$ activities were increased. The results indicated that the EEG spectral relative power would be applicable as a quantitative measure of expertise level.

  • Ever more so than any other times, today's corporations today face an ultimate issue of acquiring highest work expertise for their employees. However, most of current academic researches try to focus on what factors comprise an expertise while they fail to tackle the very issue of detailed numerical measurement of the expertise factors recommended improvement paths, and goals for each measured expertise level. Hence, this study suggests more objective and highly reliable identification of work competence measurement factors and the correlation among the identified factors. For details, it tries to propose a methodology of expertise measurement by developing into the definition of experts and expertise, reestablishment of expertise factors, determination of reference points of the expertise factors, and weighting of the factors. This measurement methodology finds that it itself has significant correlation with existing work competency level measurement and test tools. Therefore it is identified to justify its effectiveness. Finally, this study proposes an action point of establishing a national expertise architecture and its frameworks for various societies in general.

  • KADS is currently a best known methodology for expert system development is Europe. KADS world sees the expert system development as a modeling activity and uses models to control complexity of the development process. Four layers KADS expertise model is used to describe expert knowledge. But this expertise model in high abstraction level is conceptual and not formalized. This paper has formalized KADS expertise model using set theory and mathematical semantics combined in order to reduce the ambiguity of informal models of expertise, provide a precise means of communication about the model of expertise and point out incompleteness and inconsistency of the model of expertise. Instead of first order predicate calculs, set theory and mathematical semantics are used because they are a more general and have compositive quality.

  • This study is to search Korean teacher librarians' perception level of expertise and to grope for effective alternatives to promote their expertise, based on it. The result is as follows: Although Korean teacher librarians were well-educated on the information management and its related expertise, they consider that, in site, the expertise on school library education and its management is more important. As a result, this study suggests the law amendment of training teacher librarians, and the improvement of their selection system and in-service training.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship of the participation in decisionmaking and expertise of staff nurses. The population for this study was the registered nurses(N=342) working in Chungnam and Chungbuk. The data were collected from April 26 to May 26, 1999. The survey instrument was Participation in Decision Activities Quesionnaire and Expertise scale developed by Anthony(1995), and Job Expertise scale of Van de Ven and Ferry. The results were as follows: 1) There was a significant difference for identification and design, and selection among the process of participation in decision making. 2) There was a significant difference between the participation in caregiving decisions and condition of work decisions. 3) (1) There was a significant difference among caregiving decisions between the expertise indicators and the variables such as education level. and the experience to told who is an expert. (2) There was a significant difference among condition of work decisions between the expertise indicators and the variables such as career, the spent keeping current per week, and self-rating of expertise.

How does the Ambassador's Expertise and Attractiveness Affect on the Perception of Non Profit Organizations? (유명인 홍보대사의 전문성과 매력도가 비영리조직 인식에 미치는 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of donation campaigns ambassador model in non-profit organizations. To analyze the research hypothesis, the independent variables (high awareness-high expertise, high awareness-low expertise, low awareness-expertise, low awareness-low expertise) and the dependent variables (source credibility, message credibility, attitude toward the organization, and donation intention) were measured. Interaction effect was found on the source credibility, message credibility, and donation intention. The interaction effect showed that public perceived positively if the ambassador has high cognition level on the condition of low expertise. However, the attitude toward the organization according to the PR ambassador type was not significant. The study suggested that the non profit organization would better use the ambassador of high cognition rather than expertise.

  • This study aimed to investigate the effects of the virtual reality simulation for malocclusion examination for dental education. A 4-step modeling procedure was applied to develop a tooth model with a realistic level in order to be held and observed in detail. Eighty-six participants used HMDs to examine the developed virtual dental simulation to identify their perception according to expertise levels. The independent variable, expertise group, included three levels: 29 juniors, 29 seniors, and 28 dentists, respectively. The dependent variables, that were task-load and usability, were measured through two cases. Results showed that the junior group perceived a higher level of mental demands and embarrassment than the dentist group. It indicated that the perceived task load varies according to the expertise levels in the simulation task. However, the senior group perceived a higher level of ease of use than the dentist group. This study presented the implications for the development of virtual reality simulation in detail.

The Level of Expertise of Hospital Administrators in Korea (우리나라 병원 행정인력의 전문성 수준 분석)

  • This research is designed to analyze the professionalism of administrators working in Korean hospitals as a way to make them a better expertise in the industry. For this purpose, we conducted a survey of 105 administrative professionals working in hospitals nationwide and statistical analysis was performed with the SPSS Windows version 15.0. The survey questions were developed based on the Spencer & Spencer's results of research in expertise variables. The results showed that the current Korean hospital administrator do have short of expertise required for their job position. Therefore, the curriculum reform is required for healthcare management programs in college and the Korean College of Hospital Administrators (KCHA) is required to change the contents of license exam based on the results of the study.

  • An actual analysis was made regarding how different the effect of the online WOM information characteristics on the expansion of the WOM information characteristics was depending on the level of the receiver's expertise in consideration of the sender's expertise, the vividness and Consensus of WOM information which can affect the acceptance of WOM information in this study. To begin with, the analysis results showed that the online WOM information characteristics had the positive effect on the information acceptance intention in proportion to the sender's expertise and the vividness and Consensus of WOM information. Secondly, the information acceptance intention was found to have a positive effect on the re-WOM intention. Finally, the level of receiver's expertise was found to control the effect of the online WOM information characteristics on the information acceptance intention.

Elements and Changes of Teacher Expertise for the Science Gifted : Focused on Mathematics and Science Teachers in Science High Schools (고등학교급 과학영재 지도교사의 전문성 요소와 차이: 과학고 수학·과학 교사를 중심으로)

  • In this study, we identified the elements of teachers'expertise for the science gifted in science high school, and examined teacher perceptions of expertise. Through previous studies and expert consultations, 5 categories such as subject knowledge, inquiry teaching, pedagogical knowledge, student guidance and school work were derived. Based on these 5 categories and sub-element, a questionnaire was constructed. Total 284 mathematics and science teachers from 19 science high schools across the country responded to the survey. The desirable level of expertise and current level of responding teachers' own expertise were examined and compared to each other, and group comparisons were accomplished according to teacher career, type of degree and final degree. Some implications are suggested for the professional development for teachers of the science gifted.
