IOTA Simple Rules in Differentiating between Benign and Malignant Adnexal Masses by Non-expert Examiners

  • Objective: To evaluate the diagnostic performance of IOTA simple rules in predicting malignant adnexal tumors by non-expert examiners. Materials and Methods: Five obstetric/gynecologic residents, who had never performed gynecologic ultrasound examination by themselves before, were trained for IOTA simple rules by an experienced examiner. One trained resident performed ultrasound examinations including IOTA simple rules on 100 women, who were scheduled for surgery due to ovarian masses, within 24 hours of surgery. The gold standard diagnosis was based on pathological or operative findings. The five-trained residents performed IOTA simple rules on 30 patients for evaluation of inter-observer variability. Results: A total of 100 patients underwent ultrasound examination for the IOTA simple rules. Of them, IOTA simple rules could be applied in 94 (94%) masses including 71 (71.0%) benign masses and 29 (29.0%) malignant masses. The diagnostic performance of IOTA simple rules showed sensitivity of 89.3% (95%CI, 77.8%; 100.7%), specificity 83.3% (95%CI, 74.3%; 92.3%). Inter-observer variability was analyzed using Cohen's kappa coefficient. Kappa indices of the four pairs of raters are 0.713-0.884 (0.722, 0.827, 0.713, and 0.884). Conclusions: IOTA simple rules have high diagnostic performance in discriminating adnexal masses even when are applied by non-expert sonographers, though a training course may be required. Nevertheless, they should be further tested by a greater number of general practitioners before widely use.

한국고전번역원 번역인력의 진입경로에 대한 연구 - 2013년~2017년 번역인력을 중심으로 - (A Study on the Entry Path of Institute of the Translation of Korean Classics)

  • 본고에서는 최근 5년간 번역원 번역사업에 참여한 번역인력의 진입경로와 담당 번역량의 현황을 파악하고 분석하였다. 이를 위해 번역인력의 진입경로를 '직원출신(입사)', '연구과정출신', '자격시험출신', '외부전문가'로 분류하고 연도별로 인력 수와 번역 원고량을 조사하였다. 아울러 번역인력의 1인 평균원고량도 조사하였다. 조사 분석 결과 번역원 전체 번역사업의 인력 비중은 외부전문가 - 연구과정출신 - 자격시험출신 - 직원출신의 순이고, 원고량 비중은 연구과정출신 - 외부전문가 - 자격시험출신 - 직원출신임을 밝혔다. 또한 번역원의 세부사업별 현황도 조사 분석하여 각 사업분야별 특징과 문제점을 논하였다. 역사문헌번역에서 인력 비중은 연구과정출신이 가장 크지만, 원고량 비중은 자격시험출신 비중이 가장 크고, 문집번역과 특수고전번역에서는 외부전문가의 비중이 상당하다는 점을 밝혔다. 또한 번역인력의 1인 평균원고량 분석을 통해 번역원의 번역사업이 비효율적으로 진행되고 있다고 판단하였다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 '사업계획에 의거한 번역인력 활용 계획 필요', '교점 번역위원 자격시험 개선', '전문분야 번역인력 양성과 진입경로 확대'의 세 가지 방안을 제시하였다. 이상의 방안은 각각 치밀한 분석과 연구를 통해 타당성과 실효성을 검증받아야 할 것들이지만, 번역원이 보다 체계적이고 계획적인 사업계획과 번역인력 활용계획을 수립하여 번역사업을 진행하는 데 본고가 미약하나마 도움이 되길 기대한다.

주니어 공학 팀 미션 프로젝트 교육프로그램 및 교재 개발과 적용 효과 (A Study on Development and Application Effect of Junior Engineering Team Mission Project Education Program and Workbook)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop the 'Engineering Team Mission Project Education Program and Textbook', which is improved creativity and creative problem for Juniors(middle school students) that is in the growth stage to become the leading role in future society. This can be applied the creative experience activities time of revised curriculum in 2009 being implemented to secondary education by 2011. The results of this study are as follows. The formation of Team Mission Project Education Program is the big field 2 project, lower field 8 module and 38 total lessons. This education program has secured the validity of the SME(Subject Matter Expert) expert conference. Actually, by putting the education program and textbook to the invention talent class formed by middle school students and by normally analyzing, it has been analyzed as very satisfying result. Therefore, the "Engineering Team Mission Project Education Program and Textbook" can be provided as a practical education course of new talent training and engineering talent model of the nation's knowledge property education. And it can perform as an education program using usefully in the creative experience activity education course in middle class education stage. Also, it is concluded to become the basis of engineering design education's high grade education and department of engineering's creative engineering.

유럽의 규제과학 및 규제과학 인재양성 프로젝트 (European Regulatory Science and Regulatory Science Expert Training Project)

  • Background: Need for regulatory science is emerging with the development of pharmaceutical industry. It is essential to train regulatory science experts to meet the needs of technology and regulations to evaluate advanced products. Major regulatory science countries are conducting the regulatory science activities and fostering the experts. Methods: Published literature and the relevant website of European Union (EU) were reviewed and criteria were developed. In particular, we focused on in depth descriptions of the Innovative Medicines Initiative program, which was conducted twice. Results: EU is striving to provide funding and training experts for the development of the regulatory science by horizon 2020 and regulatory science to 2025. Innovative medicines initiative (IMI) is a public-private partnership aimed at the development of the pharmaceutical industry, including the regulatory science. IMI education and training projects have provided various education and training course including short-term curriculum and master and doctoral course. The difference between South Korea's regulatory science expert training project in 2021 and the EU's IMI education and training projects is participation of pharmaceutical companies. While the pharmaceutical companies participate in the IMI project to select project topics and form a community, South Korea's project is focused on the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and universities. Conclusion: Through successful active networks with regulatory party, pharmaceutical companies, and universities, a great innovative advance of regulatory science in South Korea is expected.

The Effectiveness of Simulation Training in an Advanced Trauma Life Support Program for General Surgery Residents: A Pilot Study

  • Purpose: Although the Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) course is now taught internationally, it has not been implemented in Korea. In recent years, interest has increased in simulation as a teaching tool in the ATLS course. We therefore hypothesized that simulation training would be a useful adjunct to the ATLS course. Methods: We designed a 1-day curriculum that included skill development workstations, expert lectures, trauma patient simulations, and group discussion for general surgery residents. We conducted a survey to evaluate participants' level of understanding of the initial evaluation and treatment of trauma patients, their degree of knowledge and technical improvement, their satisfaction with the learning goals, and their overall satisfaction with the curriculum. We then analyzed the effects before and after the training. Results: Nine residents attended this course. None of the residents initially reported that they could perform a primary survey of trauma patients. The analysis revealed significant improvements after training in the questionnaire areas of "assembly of the team and preparation for resuscitation of a trauma patient" (p=0.008), "performance of a primary survey for trauma patients" (p=0.007), "resuscitative procedures for trauma patients" (p=0.008), "importance of re-evaluation" (p=0.007), "identifying the pitfalls associated with the initial assessment and management" (p=0.007), and "importance of teamwork" (p=0.007). Conclusions: After the ATLS simulation training, all participants showed significant improvements in their understanding of how to manage multiple trauma patients. Therefore, ATLS simulation training for residents will help in the management of trauma patients.

Automated Assessment System for Train Simulators

  • Numerous train operating companies provide training by means of driving simulators. A detailed analysis in the course of the rail research project 2TRAIN has shown that the simulation technology, the purposes of training and the overall concept of simulator-based training are rather diverse (Schmitz & Maag, 2008). A joint factor however are weak assessment capabilities and the fact that the simulator training is often not embedded into the overall competence management. This fact hinders an optimal use of the simulators. Therefore, 2TRAIN aims at the development of enhanced training and assessment tools. Taking into account that several simulators are already in use, the focus lays on the extension of existing simulation technology instead of developing entirely new systems. This extension comprises (1) a common data simulation interface (CDSI), (2) a rule-based expert system (ExSys), (3) a virtual instructor (VI), and (4) an _assessment database (AssDB). The foundation of this technical development is an assessment concept (PERMA concept) that is based on performance markers. The first part of the paper presents this assessment concept and a process model for the two major steps of driver performance assessment, i.e. (1) the specification of exercise and assessment and (2) the assessment algorithm and execution of the assessment. The second part describes the rationale and the functionalities of the simulator add-on tools. Finally, recommendations for further technical improvement and appropriate usage are given. based on the results of a pilot study.

기어설계 자동화 시스템에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Automated Design System for Gear)

  • A computer aided expert system fur spur, helical, bevel and worm gears was newly developed by using AutoiCAD system and its AutoLISP computer language in the present study. Two methods are available for a designer to draw a gear. The first method needs the gear design parameters such as pressure, module, number of tooth, shaft angle, velocity, materials, etc. When the gear design parameters are inputted, a gear is drawn in AutoCAD system and maximum allowable power and shaft diameter are calculated additionally. The second method calculates all dimensions and gear design parameters to draw a gear when the information such as transmission, reduction ratio, nm, materials and pressure are inputted. The system includes four programs. Each program is composed of a data input module, a database module, a strength calculation module, a drawing module, a text module and a drawing edit module. In conclusion, the CAD system would be widely used in companies to find the geometric data and manufacturing course.

취업진로지도를 위한 멘토링 서비스 (A Mentoring Service for Career Guidance)

  • 대학을 졸업한 고학력 청년층의 실업은 우리사회에 고용불안을 더욱 악화 시키고 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고, 기존의 대학에서 이루어지고 있는 취업진로지도 교육은 여전히 학생들의 취업에 직접적인 효과를 얻기에는 부실하고, 단순히 정보 전달의 기능만을 갖추고 있어서 대학생들이 졸업 후 산업체의 요구에 부응하지 못하고 있다고 평가된다. 그러므로 본 논문에서는 취업진로지도를 위한 멘토링 서비스를 제안하였다. 제안하는 멘토링 서비스는 취업진로지도와 대학생활지도를 기반으로 프로세스를 운영하도록 한다. 그리고 전문가평가와 현장평가가 수시로 이루어져서 체계적이고 지속적인 멘토링 활동이 이루어지도록 하였다. 이러한 취업진로지도를 위한 멘토링 서비스 모델은 대학을 졸업하고 낮은 이직률은 물론 대학의 취업률 향상에 도움이 될 것으로 기대한다.

온라인 영재교육 프로그램에서 중학생의 튜터 역할에 대한 인식이 심층학습, 학업성취, 수업평가에 미치는 영향 (The Influence of Students' Perception of Tutor's roles on Deep Learning, Achievement, and Course Evaluation in Online Gifted Education Program)

  • 본 연구는 중학생 대상의 수학, 과학 온라인 영재교육 프로그램에서 튜터의 역할별 수행 수준을 측정하고, 그것이 학습자의 심층학습과 학업성취 수준 및 수업평가에 어떤 영향을 미치는지 알아보고자 수행되었다. 이를 위해 과학, 수학 온라인 수업을 수강한 중학생 249명을 대상으로 튜터 역할 수행 수준에 대한 설문을 실시하여 심층학습, 학업성취, 수업평가와의 관계를 살펴보았다. 분석 결과 심층학습의 하위변인인 종합적 학습, 반성적 학습에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 변인은 공통적으로 학습내용 및 평가 전문가로서의 튜터의 역할인 반면, 고차적 학습에 영향을 미치는 튜터의 역할은 없는 것으로 나타났다. 다음으로 튜터 역할의 하위 변인 중 학습자의 탐구학습 점수와 전체 점수에 영향을 미치는 변인은 학습과정 및 방법 안내자로서의 역할이었으며, 튜터 역할과 개념학습 점수는 유의미한 관련이 없는 것으로 나타났다. 반면 온라인학습에 대한 전반적인 만족도, 참여도, 이해도에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 튜터 역할은 없는 것으로 나타났다.

  • The hypothesis of the study of the article is that the use of elements of artificial intelligence will increase the effectiveness of the educational process of the university if: a set of pedagogical conditions for the construction and use of an expert system with elements of artificial intelligence in the educational process of the university is revealed; a model for preparing a future teacher of vocational training for the use of elements of artificial intelligence has been developed; a special course has been developed that contributes to the implementation of the professional orientation of education. In accordance with this, the following tasks were studied in the article: An analysis of scientific and methodological research in the field of the current state, prospects for the development and use of elements of artificial intelligence in the preparation of a future teacher of vocational training and to determine the dynamics of the introduction of intelligent expert systems in education; A set of pedagogical conditions for the construction and use of an expert system with elements of artificial intelligence in the educational process of a university is revealed; It is substantiated to develop a model for preparing a teacher of vocational training to use elements of artificial intelligence.
