The amount and kinds of radionuclide contained in waste volume should be known to prepare for occupational exposure management, perform safety assessment and finally to license a repository. Although the volume of filters and resins are small, activities of them comprise most of the radioactivity that made during power generation. This study aims at developing a method of estimating the radionuclide accumulation at the filters and resins of coolant systems. In this study, accumulated amount of radionuclides is estimated by a computer program which makes use of instantaneous decontamination factor, DF, instead of average DF. A FORTRAN program was developed for the estimation. Data from in-plant source-term measurements at Rancho-Seco nuclear power plant in the United States are employed for verification of the estimating method. And experimental data are employed, too. The instantaneous-DF-method showed smaller error than the average-DF-method. Accumulated amount of radionuclides can be calculated with only the DF and the radionuclide concentration, which are measured periodically according to the operating guide. However, especially, when the operating condition of nuclear power plant changes rapidly, the measuring term of DF and radionuclide should be shortened to ensure the accurate estimation.
When cracks occur in reinforced concrete structures, a steel carries all tensile force at crack section, while the concrete between cracks carries a part of the tensile force due to bond, so that the steel is less elongated. This is called the tension-stiffening effect, that plays an important role in verification of a serviceability limit state. But it is a complicated work to use a complex strain distribution between cracks, therefore an average strain is used to calculate deflection and crack width. In Eurocode 2, tension-stiffening effect expressed in the first order form or the second order form is used in calculating an average curvature for deflection. In this study for a flexural member deflection and crack width are calculated using various models for the tension-stiffening effect and the results are compared with the values of Eurocode 2 and KCI provisions. As results, the predicted values using the second order form are appeared to be well agreed with the experimental values and it could secure more analytical consistency.

The ballast water may be discharged into another sea area with marine organisms, it caused problems to disturb the marine ecosystem. So, in order to remove these environmental risk factors, the IMO has mandated the installation of BWTS to the all ships. Our monitoring system diagnose and predict a failure of BWTS by analyzing the sensor information of BWTS collected from which the ships scattered in the ocean of several. This paper presents the design and implementation of communication modules for BWTS remote monitoring considering the satellite communication charge fee. In the our study, we implemented the safety and cost-saving communication modules by LabVIEW program. The collected sensor informations is encrypted and compressed by LabVIEW modules running on RIO. Then they will be transfer to the land server and will be decrypt to enable monitoring in the land server. For the verification, we build the test modules which can verify from collecting the sensor data to consuming them in the monitoring server. We carried out 20 times for the data pattern in all of case. So, we verified the excellent functionality and reliability through the experimental result.

An efficient multi face detection technique is proposed based on hierarchical context-free attention operators in which multiple faces are efficiently detected from a noisy and complex background. A noise-tolerant generalized symmetry transform (NTSGT) is applied hierarchically, as a context free attention operator, to the input pyramidal image for the high speed global location of the regions of face candidates (ROFCs) with a single mask. For the face verification, local NTGST is applied within each ROFC to confirm the existence of the detailed facial features. First, by globally applying NTGST which introduces the average pyramid method and focusing to the input image with complex background, ROFCs with recognizable resolution are detected robustly. Morphological operations are applied only to the each detected ROFCs to emphasize the facial features like eyes and lips. Then, eyes are detected by locally appling NTGST to the ROFCs and only faces are detected by verifying the existence of the geometrical features of the faces relatively to the location of eyes. The experimental results show that the proposed method can efficiently detect multiple faces from a noisy or complex background with 93.5% detection rate.

The RMS(Root Mean Square) current stress reduction technique for the PFC link capacitor is proposed. Although the various parameter is exist for optimizing the link capacitor, the RMS current stress is the most weighty practical parameter. The proposed C-L filter can reduce effectively the RMS current stress by filtering the output current. And with the C-L-L-C filter proposed in this paper, the more RMS current stress can be reduce because it filters not only the output current, like C-L filter, but also the input current of DC/DC stage. The proposed filter is simple to design and have no effect on the control part of the PFC because of the very low crossover frequency. To confirm the validity of proposed filter, theoretical analysis, the design guide, verification of experimental results are presented.

In this paper, we present an SDR (Software Defined Radio) handset modem platform which supports communication systems such as HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access), and WiBro (Wireless Broadband Portable Internet). The proposed SDR platform employs DSPs (Digital Signal Processors), FPGAs (Field Programmable Gate Arrays), and microprocessors in such a way that the various communication functions like HSDPA and WiBro can be programmed and downloaded to the hardware platform. The proposed SDR platform can be used for functional verification of the physical layers of the mobile handset system in the mobile communication network. We first demonstrate the receiving structure of the physical layer of the HSDPA and WiBro system. Then, the hardware implementation of the proposed SDR platform is shown with functions and optimized signal flows required at each mode. Finally, the link performance of each mode operating on the proposed SDR platform is presented through the internal loopback tests with the test vectors. The experimental performance has been compared with the computer simulation results.
In this paper, we have developed sensor composited heater of 2-pin, and unified the fuel filter. In order to evaluate the performance of the 2-pin sensor composited fuel heater, we have make of the low temperature fluidity system. The one measure and analysis the electrical and oil flow quantity characteristics at an input and out port of 2-pin sensor composited fuel heater. Especially, in the characteristics verification elements of the proposed goods, we use the test chamber for the temperature variable and oil flow quantity test, and designed an embedded system for interfacing an engine. By interfacing both user and the system, it support an experimental and date gathering function in 2-pin sensor composited fuel filter. And then test the temperature, oil pressure, electrical characteristics and oil flow quantity in variable status from - 30 ℃ to + 80 ℃. These can help us to determine the quality and performance of elementary goods.

A new silicon-based IC interconnect transmission line parameter extraction methodology is presented and experimentally examined. Unlike the PCB or MCM interconnects, a dominant energy propagation mode in the silicon-based IC interconnects is not quasi-TEM but slow wave mode(SWM). The transmission line parameters are extracted taking the silicon substrate effect (i.e., slow wave mode) into account. The capacitances are calculated considering silicon substrate surface as a ground. Whereas the inductances are calculated by using an effective dielectric constant. In order to verify the proposed method, test patterns were designed. Experimental data have agreement within 10%. Further, crosstalk noise simulation shows excellent agreements with the measurements which are performed with high-speed time domain measurement ( i.e., TDR/TDT measurements) for test pattern, while RC model or RLC model without silicon substrate effect show about 20~25% underestimation error.
Many watermarking methods for protecting the intellectual property right and authentication multimedia data have been proposed in recent years. In image authentication watermarking, watermark is inserted into an image to detect any malicious alteration. So, watermark for authentication and integrity should be erased easily when the image is changed by scaling or cropping etc. We propose in this paper a fragile watermarking algorithm for image integrity verification and tamper localization proofing using special hierarchical structure. In the proposed method, the image to be watermarked is divided into blocks in a multi-level hierarchy and calculating block digital signatures in thus hierarchy. At each level of the hierarchy, a digital signature for each block is calculated using the seven most significant bit(MSBs)-plane values of all pixels within the block. And the resulting signature is incorporated into the LSBs of selected pixels within the block. We provide experimental results to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
