  • Since the propellant tank structure of the projectile is mainly subjected to a compressive force, there is a high risk of damage due to buckling. Large and lightweight structures such as propellant tank have a complex manufacturing process. So it requires a non-destructive test method to predict buckling load to use the structure after testing. Many studies have been conducted on Vibration Correlation Technique(VCT), which predicts buckling load using the relationship between compressive load and natural frequency, but it requires a large compressive load to predict the buckling load accurately, and it tends to decrease prediction accuracy with increasing internal pressure in structure. In this paper, we analyzed the causes of the decrease in prediction accuracy when internal pressure increases and proposed a method increasing prediction accuracy under the low compressive load for being usable after testing, through VCT combined testing and FEA result. The prediction value by the proposed method was very consistent with the measured actual buckling load.

  • The elastic and inelastic responses obtained from the experimental and analytical results of two RC building structures under the service level earthquake (SLE) and maximum considered earthquake (MCE) in Korea were used to weinvestigate the characteristics of the mechanisms resisting shear and torsional behavior in torsionally unbalanced structures. Equations representing the interactive effect of translational drift and torsional deformation on the shear force and torsional moment were proposed. Because there is no correlation in the behavior between elastic and inelastic forces and strains, the incremental shear forces and incremental torsional moments were analyzed in terms of their corresponding incremental drifts and incremental torsional deformations with respect to the yield, unloading, and reloading phases around the maximum edge-frame drift. In the elastic combination of the two dominant modes, the translational drift mainly contributes to the shear force, whereas the torsional deformation contributes significantly to the overall torsional moment. However, this phenomenon is mostly altered in the inelastic response such that the incremental translational drift contributes to both the incremental shear forces and incremental torsional moments. In addition, the given equation is used to account for all phenomena, such as the reduction in torsional eccentricity, degradation of torsional stiffness, and apparent energy generation in an inelastic response.

  • Waterjets for rocks have various advantages of the non-contact and eco-friendly excavation using only water and abrasive. To overcome the problems (e.g., dust and noise occurrence) of the conventional drilling methods, waterjet excavation methods are broadly used. It is advantageous to operate a couple of nozzles in order to increase the waterjet excavation efficiency. When multiple nozzles are used, it is essential to analyze the excavation performance and shape according to the nozzle operation method. In this study, nozzle angle, horizontal distance between nozzles, and standoff distance were defined as nozzle operating parameters and the excavation performance and shape were analyzed. As a result of the experiment, when the nozzle angle and standoff distance are increased, the excavation depth is decreased and the effective depth tends to be increased. In addition, based on the experimental results, the excavation shape criteria required for nozzle insertion were proposed and optimal nozzle operating parameters were derived according to the criteria. This study result is expected to be used as useful basic research in the future development of multiple waterjet nozzles for rock drilling.

  • The ten standard roughness profiles suggested by Barton and Choubey (1977) were extended to make three-dimensional (3D) joint models whose profiles were identical at any cross section. Replicas of joint models were produced using plaster of Paris, and direct shear tests were performed to verify the joint roughness coefficients (JRC) of the standard roughness profiles. Joint shear strengths measured by direct shear tests were compared with those predicted by the shear failure criterion suggested by Barton (1973) based on JRC, joint compressive strength (JCS), and joint basic friction angle (𝜙b). Shear strengths measured from joints of the first and fourth standard roughness profiles were close to predicted values; however, shear strengths measured from the other joint models were lower than predicted, the differences increasing as the roughness of joints increased. Back calculated values for JRC, JCS, and from the results of the direct shear tests show measured shear strengths were lower than predicted shear strengths because of the JRC values. New JRC were back calculated from the measured shear strength and named JRCm. Values of JRCm were lower than the JRC for the standard roughness profiles but show a strong linear relationship to JRC. Corrected JRCm values for the standard roughness profiles are provided and revised relationships between JRCm and JRC, and new shear strength criterion are suggested.

  • This research aims to present effective influencer marketing strategies against a heavy blow in Korean influencer marketing industry because of the paid advertisement controversy and the reinforcement of regulations for online advertisement. By investigating the effects of influencer reputation, which is composed of communication skills, influence, authenticity and professionalism on marketing effect, as well as the mediating effect of parasocial relationship, the study provides some implications for influencer selecting. The effect of economic interests is examined under 4 experimental conditions of paid advertisements, brand collaboration, brand gifts and organic review to figure out how to arrange an appropriate sponsorship plan. According to results of PLS structural equation analysis, it shows that the influence and authenticity of an influencer have a significant positive effect on marketing effect and the mediating effect of parasocial relationship is partially proved. It seems that the effect of influencer reputation on marketing effect is significantly differentiated in different contexts, which confirms the moderating effect of economic interest. Distinguish from previous studies, this study focuses on types of economic interest rather than a simple comparison between sponsorship disclosure versus no disclosure and makes contributions to expanding reputation research. Meanwhile, findings of this study could give some practical implications for marketing practitioners in planning influencer marketing.

  • Controlling the setting time of cementitious materials is one of the most important factors in securing early-age performance of concrete structures. Recently, the use of retarding admixtures, which enable the inhibition of some hydration products to control the securing time due to average temperature rise is suggested. Although various non-destructive evaluation methods have been proposed to evaluate cement hydration and hardening of cement-based materials to overcome the limitations of Vicat needle test, experimental research is still required to use the non-destructive evaluation method with added retarding admixtures. In this study, measurements of electrical resistivity and ultrasonic wave velocity in early-aged cement pastes were performed according to the addition of retarding admixture(tartaric acid). The setting time of the cement pastes was evaluated by obtained rising time of the both non-destructive measurements. As a result, the possibility of evaluating the setting delay in cement pastes was confirmed through comparative analysis with the initial and final setting times by Vicat test. In addition, X-ray diffraction results at the rising time of electrical resistivity showed a key hydration product affecting the setting delay.

  • The aim of this study is to analyze the dynamic characteristics of proportional control valves according to various working conditions as a basic study for developing proportional control valves for auto-steering tractors. The dynamic characteristics of proportional valves were measured using hydraulic characteristics measurement system, and the power was analyzed using measured flow rate and pressure data. As the experimental conditions, the tractor engine speed and steering angle was selected as the main variables, and the experiment was performed on urethane road conditions. As a result, it was found that the flow rate, pressure, and power of the proportional control valve increased as the tractor engine speed and steering angle increased. In particular, as the steering angle increased at the same engine speed, the flow rate, pressure, and power tended to increase by up to 190%, 172%, and 273%, respectively. Similarly, as the engine speed increased at the same steering angle, the flow rate, pressure, and power tended to increase up to 161%, 122%, and 168%, respectively. Therefore, it can be seen that the steering angle has a higher influence on the dynamic characteristics of the proportional control valve than the engine speed.

  • In a wide range of ML applications, the training data contains privacy-sensitive information that should be kept secure. Training the ML systems by privacy-sensitive data makes the ML model inherent to the data. As the structure of the model has been fine-tuned by training data, the model can be abused for accessing the data by the estimation in a reverse process called model inversion attack (MIA). Although, MIA has been applied to shallow neural network models of recognizers in literature and its threat in privacy violation has been approved, in the case of a deep learning (DL) model, its efficiency was under question. It was due to the complexity of a DL model structure, big number of DL model parameters, the huge size of training data, big number of registered users to a DL model and thereof big number of class labels. This research work first analyses the possibility of MIA on a deep learning model of a recognition system, namely a face recognizer. Second, despite the conventional MIA under the white box scenario of having partial access to the users' non-sensitive information in addition to the model structure, the MIA is implemented on a deep face recognition system by just having the model structure and parameters but not any user information. In this aspect, it is under a semi-white box scenario or in other words a gray-box scenario. The experimental results in targeting five registered users of a CNN-based face recognition system approve the possibility of regeneration of users' face images even for a deep model by MIA under a gray box scenario. Although, for some images the evaluation recognition score is low and the generated images are not easily recognizable, but for some other images the score is high and facial features of the targeted identities are observable. The objective and subjective evaluations demonstrate that privacy cyber-attack by MIA on a deep recognition system not only is feasible but also is a serious threat with increasing alert state in the future as there is considerable potential for integration more advanced ML techniques to MIA.

  • Various devices are connected to the Internet, and attacks using the Internet are occurring. Among such attacks, there are attacks that use malicious URLs to make users access to wrong phishing sites or distribute malicious viruses. Therefore, how to detect such malicious URL attacks is one of the important security issues. Among recent deep learning technologies, neural networks are showing good performance in image recognition, speech recognition, and pattern recognition. This neural network can be applied to research that analyzes and detects patterns of malicious URL characteristics. In this paper, performance analysis according to various parameters was performed on a method of detecting malicious URLs using neural networks. In this paper, malicious URL detection performance was analyzed while changing the activation function, learning rate, and neural network structure. The experimental data was crawled by Alexa top 1 million and Whois to build the data, and the machine learning library used TensorFlow. As a result of the experiment, when the number of layers is 4, the learning rate is 0.005, and the number of nodes in each layer is 100, the accuracy of 97.8% and the f1 score of 92.94% are obtained.

  • Several additives are used to enhance the geotechnical properties (e.g., shear wave velocity, shear modulus) of soils to provide sustainable, economical and eco-friendly solutions in geotechnical and geo-environmental engineering. In this study, piezoelectric ring actuators are used to measure the shear wave velocity of unreinforced, fiber, cemented, and fiber reinforced cemented Toyoura sand. One dimensional oedometer tests are performed on medium dense specimens of Toyoura sand-cement-fiber-silica flour mixtures with different percentages of silica flour (0-42%), fiber and cement (e.g., 0-3%) additives. The experimental results indicate that behavior of the mixtures is significantly affected by the concentration of silica flour, fiber and cement additives. Results show that with the addition of 1-3% of PVA fibers, the shear wave velocity increases by only 1-3%. However, the addition of 1-4% of cement increases the shear wave velocity by 8-35%. 10.5-21% increase of silica flour reduces the shear wave velocity by 2-5% but adding 28-42% silica flour significantly reduces the shear wave velocity by 12-31%. In addition, the combined effect of cement and fibers was also found and with only 2% cement and 1% fiber, the shear wave velocity increase was found to be approximately 24% and with only 3% cement and 3% fibers this increased to 35%. The results from this study for the normalized shear modulus and normalized mean effective stress agree well with previous findings on pure Toyoura sand, Toyoura silty sand, fiber reinforced, fiber reinforced cemented Toyoura sand. Any variations are likely due to the difference in stress history (i.e., isotropic versus anisotropic consolidation) and the measurement method. In addition, these small discrepancies could be attributed to several other factors. The potential factors include the difference in specimen sizes, test devices, methods of analysis for the measurement of arrival time, the use of an appropriate Ko to convert the vertical stresses into mean effective stress, and sample preparation techniques. Lastly, it was investigated that there is a robust inverse relationship between α factor and 𝞫0 exponent. It was found that less compressible soils exhibit higher 𝜶 factors and lower 𝞫0 exponents.
