  • Existing quality adaptation schemes are useful for improving network stability in a congested network, but these schemes do not guarantee the quality of experience on video streaming due to the frequent variations in playback quality for a streaming service. In this paper, we propose a network-adaptive quality adaptation scheme to guarantee the quality of experience on SVC(Scalable Video Coding) video streaming. The proposed scheme estimates the available bandwidth by bandwidth measurement scheme using media characteristic, and then smoothly adjusts the quality level of SVC video stream according to the estimated bandwidth. Through the simulation, we prove that our scheme guarantees the quality of experience for video streaming by minimizing quality variation.

  • Purpose: This study simulates cardiac arrest situations in 360° virtual reality video clips and general video clips, and compares the correlations between educational media and experience recognition. Methods: Experimental research was carried out on a random control group (n=32) and experimental group (n=32) on March 20, 2019. Results: The groups where participants were trained with the 360° virtual reality video clips and a higher score of experience recognition (p=.047) than the group where participants were trained with the general video clips. Moreover, the subfactors of experience recognition including the sense of presence and vividness (p=.05), immersion (p<.05). experience (p<.01), fantasy factor (p<.05). and content satisfaction (p<.05) were positively correlated. Conclusion: Enhancing vividness and the sense of presence when developing virtual reality videos recorded with a 360° camera is thought to enable experience recognition without any direct interaction.

  • In this paper, we present a method to customize the ground color in outdoor sports video to provide TV viewers with a better viewing experience or subjective satisfaction. This issue, related to content personalization, is becoming critical with the advent of mobile TV and interactive TV. In outdoor sports video, such as soccer video, it is sometimes observed that the ground color is not satisfactory to viewers. In this work, the proposed algorithm is focused on customizing the ground color to deliver a better viewing experience for viewers. The algorithm comprises three modules: ground detection, shot classification, and ground color customization. We customize the ground color by considering the difference between ground colors from both input video and the target ground patch. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme offers useful tools to provide a more comfortable viewing experience and that it is amenable to real-time performance, even in a software-based implementation.

  • This paper proposes an experimental method for measuring the quality of experience to measure the influence of the participants' immersion, satisfaction, and presence according to the application of sensory effects to 360-degree video. Participants of the experiment watch 360-degree videos using HMD and receive sensory effects using scent diffusing devices and wind devices. Subsequently, a questionnaire was conducted on the degree of immersion, satisfaction, and present feelings for the video you watched. By analyzing the correlation of the survey results, we found that the provision of sensory effects satisfies the 360-degree video viewing, and the experimental method was appropriate. In addition, using the P.910 method, a result was derived that was not suitable for measuring the quality of the immersion and presence of 360-degree video according to the provision of sensory effects.

  • The proportion of video content consumption is growing dramatically but some users avoid it. The reasons are initial time to load, lack of the time to watch video content, and particularly a traffic issues on mobile devices. The proposed Video-to-Images(V2I) technology offers a new user experience to end users through converting video into images without content providers' or users' effort. Using the V2I technology, consumption methods of video content with new type of content by users and the advantages of the new user experience will be introduced. Furthermore, the overall architecture of the V2I will be explained.

  • Video streaming services make up a large proportion of Internet traffic on both fixed and mobile access throughout the world. Adaptive streaming allows for dynamical adaptation of the bitrate with varying network conditions, to guarantee the best user experience. Adaptive bitrate algorithms face a significant challenge in correctly estimating the throughput as it varies widely over time. In this paper, we first evaluate the throughput estimation techniques and show that the method that we have used offers stable response to throughput fluctuations while maintaining a stable playback buffer. Then, we propose an adaptive bitrate scheme that intelligently selects the video bitrates based on the estimated throughput and buffer occupancy. We show that the proposed scheme improves viewing experience by achieving a high video rate without taking unnecessary risks and by minimizing the frequency of changes in the video quality. Furthermore, we show that it offers a stable response to short-term fluctuations and responds swiftly to large fluctuations. We evaluate our algorithm for both constant bitrate (CBR) and variable bitrate (VBR) video content by taking into account the segment sizes and show that it significantly improves the quality of video streaming.

  • This study aims to figure out how the brand experience design elements works in the Shortform video-based branding through case analysis. The sense, feel, think, act, relate experience of Shortform video brand are provided through the implementation of specific experience design elements in the process of the creators expressing personality through social media channels and communicating and interacting with consumers. As a result, LIZIQI's food videos provided a brand identity as an 'Eastern gourmet' to consumers through the audiovisual stimulation of food in video, the cognitive reinforcement which is combined of identities and products, and the behavioral participation by web sites·electronic media. In addition, a strong brand relationship was established by sharing emotional ties using human factors and responsibility through co-branding. This can be extended to various Shortform video contents-based branding cases, and it will suggest a useful approach to the brand building strategy through strategic brand experience design elements.

Methods: This crossover study, implemented May 18-31, 2020, included 27 participants. We compared 360° virtual reality video and first-person video. SPSS version 25.0 was used for statistical analysis. Results: The 360° virtual reality video had a higher score of experience recognition (p=.039), vividness (p=.045), presence (p=.000), fantasy factor (p=.000) than the first-person video, but no significant difference was indicated for satisfaction (p=.348) or interest (p=.441). Conclusion: 360° virtual reality video and first-person video can be used as training alternatives to achieve the standard educational objectives in non-face-to-face practical lectures.

  • With the fast development of information and communication technologies, video streaming services and applications are increasing rapidly. However, the network condition is volatile. In order to provide users with better quality of service, it is necessary to develop an accurate and low-complexity model for Quality of Experience (QoE) prediction of time-varying video. Memory effects refer to the psychological influence factor of historical experience, which can be taken into account to improve the accuracy of QoE evaluation. In this paper, we design subjective experiments to explore the impact of Short-Term Memory (STM) on QoE. The experimental results show that the user's real-time QoE is influenced by the duration of previous viewing experience and the expectations generated by STM. Furthermore, we propose analytical models to determine the relationship between intrinsic video quality, expectation and real-time QoE. The proposed models have better performance for real-time QoE prediction when the video is transmitted in a fluctuate network. The models are capable of providing more accurate guidance for improving the quality of video streaming services.

  • Recent use of digital video contents increases visual fatigue of users. As a result, it has been difficult that the existing video methods make users focus on the content with interest and deliver stories intended by contents producers. Parallax scrolling is getting the spotlight as a new way which are keeping the fluent visual advantages of video and help users maintaining their attention with simple maneuver. In this study, based on a survey, it would compare the user experience in an existing video in Web contents and parallax scrolling Web contents. As a result, it showed that using the parallax scrolling Web sites improve user sensibilities such as aesthetic, novelty and pleasure of user experiences. A remarkable thing is that users replied parallax scrolling is not much comfortable to use. According to the result, researchers suggest that using parallax scrolling in Web site needs thoughtful decision in making and managing of Web contents.
