  • Present CAM technology cannot provide important physical property such as cutting farce and machined surface. Thus, the selection of cutting conditions still depends on the experience of an expert or on the machining data handbook in spite of the developed CAM technology. This paper presents an advanced methodology to help the worker to determine optimum cutting condition for CHC machining that excludes the need for expertise of machining data handbook. The virtual machining system presented in this paper can simulate the real machining states such as cutting farce and machined surface error. And virtual machining system can schedule feed rate to adjust the cutting force to the reference force.

  • Minimally invasive surgery (MIS) has several advantages over conventional open surgery. Less pain, less morbidity, early recovery and better cosmetic outcomes are well-known benefits of MIS. However, indications of MIS are highly dependent on the experience of surgeon and the disease status, In the benign diseases with less surgical complexity, MIS can be performed relatively and safely. However. in advanced malignant diseases which require more complex surgical manipulation, the of patients and the principles of oncologic surgery should be considered before the selection of surgical methods, MIS would be performed more and more with aid or technologic advancement. However, long-term result with equivalent oncologic outcomes to open surgery is necessary to be one of standard surgical treatments in thoracic surgery.

  • Although first generation total ankle replacement (TAR) had high failure rates, recent investigations have reported good results of the newer generations of TAR due to advances in implant designs and techniques. Patient selection is critical to performing TAR to obtain promising outcomes and to decrease complication rate. As the current concepts of correcting the accompanying deformity have been established, TAR in moderate to severe varus deformity of the ankle result in favorable outcomes and indications for TAR are expanding. Correction of deformity and hindfoot fusion should be performed in conjunction with TAR if needed. If radiolucency around components or osteolysis is progressive during follow-up, CT should be carried out as a confirmative diagnostic method. TAR is an effective treatment modality alternative to ankle fusion. However, we should recognize that TAR is a demanding procedure, which requires accurate techniques, enough experience, and preoperative plan for a concomitant deformity.

  • As the dependence on information systems in enterprises has grown dramatically, the importance of implementing information systems in audit has been increased as well. However, there is a lact of about utilization of information system for audit process. Thus, this study is to investigate the factors that effect auditor's adopting Data Analytics to audit work. Through literature research and focus group interview, we added two factors that affect the behavioral intention to UTAUT model. We have selected performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, facilitating conditions, anxiety, task fit, behavioral intention as variables and verified hypotheses based on survey questionnaires from auditors. As a result, it was found that performance expectations, social influence, task fit influenced the behavior intention. In Addition, we analyzed adding two variables, IT-related work experience and type of auditor as moderate variable. This study has an implication for companies to motivate implementation as well as activation of Data Analytics technique.

  • This paper describes the development of a software that has the man expert knowledge, experience and inference. This software is helpful for selecting the motors and driving systems which are best fit for the applications. Developed software can automatically select the most reasonable motor driving systems, only if a semi-skilled engineer inputs the performance criteria for the applications and mechanical data. Expert system inference engine and knowledge-base are implemented by C programming language. Data-base was implemented from manufacturer's catalogues for DC motors and brushless DC motors. Efficiencies of the various motor driving systems are compared reference on the average efficiency depends on the operating profiles. Developed expert system was tested in various of applications to verify the reliability, quick and easy selecting of the motor driving systems.

  • The R/C structures is very popular because of its low construction cost and its semi-permanent life. But in Korea, unfortunately there are few exprets in this field, and the repair methods and selection of material for R/C structures are determined by their subjective personal opinions. Therefore systematic study of this field is ulgently required. For attainning this purpose, in this study the related documents and knowledge or experience from human experts were collected. Based on the collected information cracks are classified into 25 patterns and repair related-knowledge base, which will be formulated and encoded into the domain knowledge, is built. And then an expert system, that can suggest the repair methods in the same way the human experts would, is developed. The results using the developed expert system are compared to the real field practices and they are satisfactory.

  • This paper explores a model-free value-based approach for solving survival gridworld problem. Survival gridworld problem opens up a challenge involving taking risks to gain better rewards. Classic value-based approach in model-free reinforcement learning assumes minimal risk decisions. The proposed method involves a hybrid on-policy and off-policy updates to experience roll-outs using a modified Q-based update equation that introduces a parametric linear rectifier and motivational discount. The significance of this approach is it allows model-free training of agents that take into account risk factors and motivated exploration to gain better path decisions. Experimentations suggest that the proposed method achieved better exploration and path selection resulting to higher episode scores than classic off-policy and on-policy Q-based updates.

  • Evaluation of toxicological pathology is to some extend subjective judgments by pathologist and the accuracy of pathologist's works is based on the individual training and experiences. It has been required to establish a peer review system for toxicologic pathology and these review system has been employed by various practice of toxicological pathology. It would be pointed out that the possible causes of drifts in pathology are due to 1) lack of knowledge or experience of individual pathologists, 2) poorly maintained consistence of grading among animals in study, 3) different interpretation of findings between pathologists, or 4) pathology data processing. Example cases of diagnostic errors and current practice of peer review including tissue selection criteria, documentation and problem resolution for short-term and carcinogenicity studies were introduced. For sound regulatory system and high integrity of practice in toxicological pathology, current approaches of peer review system were reviewed.

  • In this paper, the importance of the size effects on the strength ratio is demonstrated by numerical results. The rate of decrease of tensile strength is for glass fiber, based on the experience of a composite manufacturing specialist. For other material, similar procedure may be used until detailed test result on such material is available. The strength criteria used is that of Tsai-Wu for stress space. The factors influencing the ratio are, reducing the tensile strength alone or both tensile and compression strengths, selection of the normalized interaction term, that is, the generalized Von Mises criterion or the Hill's criterion, and the status of applied stresses. Some of the numerical results are presented for a guideline for the furture study.

  • Computer aided process planning(CAPP) is a key for implementing CIM. It is bridge between CAD and CAM and translates the design information into manufacturing instructions. Generally, manufacturing is an area where intelligent systems will not be able to rely on methods requiring formalized knowledge. Manufacturing lacks a body of knowledge that is specific, formalized, and rigorous, and which can be coded as rules or procedures. Thus expertise in manufacturing is developed over a period of many years. Case-based reasoning(CBR) offers a new approach for developing intelligent system. In the case-based approach the problem solving experience of the experts is encoded in the form of cases. CBR's retrieval process can be divided to two step. The first step is matching step, and the second step is selection step. For selecting base case, new preference heuristics were introduced using similarity concept. Similarity concept has three has three dimensions, i.e. entity similarity, structural similarity, and goal similarity. In this paper, bolt's process planning was selected an application domain. Following the test result, the new preference heuristics were approved as a useful procedure in CAPP.
