Risk Assessment using Fuzzy Linguistic Variables in Korean (한국어 퍼지 언어변수를 이용한 리스크 평가)

  • Usually risk assessment is performed for the safety of diverse industries though, many kinds of risks cannot be analyzed effectively by using classical probability models due to lack of experience data and impreciseness of human decision making. For these reasons, fuzzy risk assessment utilizing subjective judgment and experience of skillful experts has been considered as a solution. In this study, to comprehend the relationship between conventional fuzzy theory and human conceptual images on risks, linguistic variables were reviewed with reference to fuzzy membership functions, especially in the Korean language. As interviewees, about a hundred people including students as well as safety engineers voluntarily participated. The research results showed that most people were in favor of adjective expressions decorated with adverbs rather than naive expressions such as "high" or "low", and that directly translated linguistic variables were not appropriate for the Korean people in risk assessment as far. Therefore, with consideration of the selection tendency by the Korean people in linguistic variables, it could be concluded that 5 level expressions would be most favorable for linguistic variables in risk assessments in Korea.

Factors affecting fashion consumers' purchase decisions in nonprofit thrift stores (비영리 중고가게에서 패션제품 소비자의 구매 결정요인)

  • With the increasing popularity of nonprofit thrift shopping, new marketing strategies are needed to respond to accelerated competition in the secondhand market. To help guide the development of marketing strategies for nonprofit thrift stores, this study aims to identify factors impacting consumers' buying behavior for secondhand fashion items sold in nonprofit thrift stores. Specifically, this study investigated 1) the effects of secondhand fashion selection criteria (i.e., design, brand name, lower price) and personal factors (i.e., gender, household income, beliefs about environment) on the secondhand fashion consumption experience in nonprofit thrift stores and 2) the moderating effects of point of purchase (POP) messages (i.e., "50% Off Sale," "New Arrivals," "Helping Others") on the relationships between purchase intention and impulsive buying in nonprofit thrift stores. An online survey was used to collect the data, and a total of 197 usable responses were received. The results showed that 1) gender, household income, beliefs about environment, and brand name affected the secondhand fashion consumption experience and 2) the POP message "Helping Others" negatively moderated the relationship between purchase intention and impulsive buying in nonprofit thrift stores. These results can help nonprofit thrift stores' managers to develop effective marketing strategies to increase their profits, which can be used to accomplish their mission of addressing social issues.

A Study on the Causal Model of Computer Self-Efficacy - using on LISREL Analysis - (최종사용자의 Computer Self-Efficacy에 관한 인과모형에 대한 연구 -LISREL분석 접근법을 이용하여-)

  • Recently, self-efficacy is one of the critical constructs that have been found to influence human decisions about behavior selection and the performance associated with the selected behavior. The construct has been widely adopted and tested In the fields of social psychology and/or other behavioral sciences. In information systems field, however, it has been hardly studied, although computer self-efficacy could have been an important factor explaining and predicting human computer usage behaviors. From this perspective, main purposes of the study is to understand causal relation among the factors influencing computer self- efficacy, computer usage behavior and computer self-efficacy. The research reported in this study have several objectives; 1) to develop a measure of computer self-efficacy, 2) to Identify the factors influencing self-efficacy, and 3) to reveal the relationship between self-efficacy and computer usage behavior and then 4) to explain the causal model of computer self-efficacy. By reviewing the literature, past experience, others' use, encouragement by others, and anxiety are selected as the factors influencing computer self-efficacy. Four hypotheses concerning the relationship between each of the variables and computer self-efficacy are tested by LISREL. One more hypothesis about the relationship between computer self-efficacy and computer usage is also tested. The results show that computer self-efficacy is significantly influence by computer anxiety, encouragement by others, and computer experience, and that it is closely correlated with computer usage behavior.

A Study on the Development of Standard Curriculum for Physical Therapy in Korea (한국 물리치료 과정의 표준교과 개발에 대한 연구)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to suggest new strategies available for the physical therapy curriculum development. Method: The curriculum of 4 Universities in 4 countries; America, Australia, Canada and Korea was compared to suggest new curriculum. Results: Overall, curriculum in Korea emphasized skill and technique areas and didn't showed many subjects to take foundation of subject for understanding principles. The experience in clinic is not enough to satisfy international recommendation. Conclusion: We suggest that a new curriculum should be based on the three part which are foundation, essential and selection subject, and extended clinical experience to essentially need to be physical therapy in the world-standard.

  • The core of character and concept in an exhibition space of contemporary museum is that the place for relics and materials changes into the place for spectators, the static exhibition place changes into the dynamic exhibition place, and the place for learning naturally during amusement. In other words, it could convey the conceptual exhibition object which is not the material object called a relic, it could be a place where is to investigate, participate, experience and enjoy with easily method to general public, and ordinary people are supposed to experience with integrative the world of intellectual, cultural and artistic which is inconcionsly rising a dimensiov. In order to response positively the change of these exhibition concept itself, exhibition system will be established through the analysis of realistic exhibition objects with the visulatization of theme or thought of an exhibitiov. In process of conveying image, the effective and concrete exhibition method and technique should be measured in order to realize the communication between spectators and exhibition objects. The purpose of this study is to find the methodology which is enable to establish the exhibition theme and presentation system through the selection and analysis of exhibition objects in major cases of a musem of ecience and engneering, to find the process model till the methodology applies to the space scheme, and to find finally the designed indicators which is applicable to the progress of exhibition desigv.

The Effect of Advertising Message Framing and Appeal Preferences by Advertising Planners at Medical Institutes on Medical Advertising (의료기관 홍보담당자의 메시지 프레이밍과 소구유형 선호도가 의료광고에 미치는 영향)

  • Objectives : This study was conducted to examine what types of attributes advertising and promotion staff members working at different medical institutes consider when performing their advertising duties. It also seeks to identify satisfaction levels with the advertising conditions and tasks required of them to perform the actual advertising. Methods : This study subjects were members registered in the address book of the Korean Hospital Public Relations Association with 127 actual test respondents targeted. Results : Regarding the selection of the types of advertising message appeals, those with less than five years of work experience were found to prefer emotional messages, whereas those with more than six years of work experience were found to prefer rational messages. male advertising planners preferred rational messages, whereas female advertising planners preferred emotional messages. Conclusions : The medical advertising facilities at hospitals and equipment to produce the main materials to improve the effectiveness of advertising should be considered.

  • KEPCO constructed the first 765kV 2 circuit transmission line in the world with its home grown technologies. Through this 765kV transmission system project, KEPCO accumulated experience and technologies related to the 765 kV power system. Based on the successful completion of the 765kV transmission project, KEPCO is conducting overseas business by using its abundant experience and know-how. In particular, KEPCO developed the training course for power system, called the ATT (Advanced Transmission Technology) training courses for overseas business, especially for developing countries. Therefore, KEPCO developed the "Transmission line design system for overseas projects". This system supports the calculation of wind pressure load, tower design, wire selection, insulation design, etc. by applying the meteorological data of foreign countries and design standards. And this system is applied to the training program so that the trainees can design the optimal transmission line for their own countries.

Patients' perception on the use of rubber dam for dental treatment (치과치료시 러버댐의 사용에 대한 환자의 인식도 조사)

  • A questionnaire-based survey was done to evaluate the patients' perception on the use of Rubber Dam (RD) for the tooth isolation during dental treatment. Total 106 questionnaire were gathered and the data were analyzed according to the patients' gender, age, previous experience of RD. The 96% of total patients reported no experience of RD in their previous treatment. The first advantage of RD was selected as the protection of irrigant and medication into the oral cavity and the disadvantage was selected as saliva gathering during treatment. 98% of patients want to use RD for the next treatment and 99% remarked that the RD is essential for the dental treatment. Based on the surveyed data, majority of the patients highly satisfied with the RD use and they want to use RD and may consider the use of RD for the selection of dental clinic.

A study of preferences and satisfaction levels in maternity and nursing brassieres (임산부 및 수유부 전용 브래지어 실태조사와 만족도 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate preferences and satisfaction levels in maternity and nursing brassiere. A questionnaire was conducted on 302 women from their 20s to 40s who had breastfeeding experience. The questionnaire included questions on participant demographics, purchase behavior, and design preference and satisfaction levels. The majority(98.0%) of the participants had had experience using maternity/nursing brassieres. More than 90% of the participants agreed with the need for maternity/nursing brassieres distinct from regular ones. Shopping online was the most common means of purchasing them. The most and second-most owned fastener types were the detachable shoulder belt type and inside-cup type, respectively. The most selected reason for purchasing or wearing a maternity/nursing brassiere was the convenience of donning and doffing the brassiere during breastfeeding. Participants had lower satisfaction levels with how well maternity/nursing brassieres support and center the breasts, and with the variety of designs available on the market. Respondents indicated that fasteners for breastfeeding should be developed to provide comfort and convenience for breastfeeding. Wearing comfort was reported as the most important factor in purchasing selection, both during the pregnancy and breastfeeding periods. No-wire, back closure, full-cup, U-shape wing, and skin color were the most preferred design styles.
