Purpose: This study was to identify the influencing factors of the compliance level to a therapeutic regimen after a bone mineral densitometry test. Method: The sample for the study was 95 people who took the bone mineral densitometry test from March, 2002 to July, 2002. Data was collected by mail using aself reporting questionnaire on the selected variables such as the compliance level, self efficacy, health locus of control, susceptibility, severity, usefulness, barrier, and self esteem. Results: The average compliance level was 63.93. Through multiple regression, three independent variables including chance health locus of control on personality, the result of bone mineral density and self-efficacy were entered in the model as the significant determinants of the compliance level after a bone mineral densitometry test. The coefficients of determination of each variable were 10.9%, 8.3% and 8.1% respectively. Conclusion: The identification of the determinants of the compliance level to the therapeutic regimen after bone mineral densitometry is expected to contribute to the development of an intervention program to improve the compliance level to the therapeutic regimen in osteoporosis patients.
This study ascertained convergent influence on self-leadership and its association with self-competence, self-efficacy and locus of control among female freshmen in health majors studying TOEIC. Data collection was carried out using a self-administered questionnaire from April 29, 2019 to May 10, 2019 and the target was randomly selected 201 female freshmen in health majors in TOEIC class from college located in J city. Self-leadership was positively correlated with self-competence, self-efficacy and locus of control. The covariance structure analysis showed that the higher self-competence, the higher self-efficacy and the lower locus of control tend to increase self-leadership. The results of the study indicate that the efforts, to increase self-competence and self-efficacy, to decrease locus of control, are required to improve self-leadership of female freshmen in health majors studying TOEIC. These results are expected to be used for educational counseling and intervention efforts to enhance self-leadership among female freshmen in health majors studying TOEIC. In future studies, further research on additional factors affecting self-leadership is needed.
Purpose: This study was done to identify the scope of internet addiction in school age children in early grades of elementary school in Korea, and to identify factors affecting internet addiction fur these children. Method: The participants were 408 children from in grades 1 to 4 in four urban elementary schools. Data were collected through self-report questionnaires which were constructed to include a parent-child internet addiction test, a self-control rating scale, and a scale of parent control of on-line use. The data were analyzed using the SPSS program. Results: Of the children, $71.6\%$ reported being average on-line users, $27.9\%$, heavy on-line users, and $0.5\%$, internet addicted. Self control and parent control of on-line use for average on-line users were different from that of heavy on-line users. Significant predictors influencing internet addiction were time spent on-line, self control, gender, father's occupation, on-line games, on-line use alone, and conversation with parents. These predictors accounted for $42\%$ of variance in internet addiction. Conclusion: The prevalence of heavy on-line use in children was higher than expected, and internet addiction was influenced by self control, time spent on-line, and related factors. Therefore nursing interventions for prevention and management of internet addiction need to be developed and provided to these children.
This study was to identify the effects of using Gratitude Diary Writing on self-esteem and internal-external locus of control to adolescent. A randomized controlled experimental design was used. There were 20 participants in the experimental group, and 19 in the control group. Data were analyzed using Chi-square test, Fisher's exact test, t-test. The results of self-esteem(t=5.142, p=<.001) and internal-external locus of control(t=5.821 p=<.001)l showed statistically significant differences between the two groups. Using thank journal writing is effective in improving adolescents self-esteem and internal-external locus of control. If the gratitude diary writing effect of gratitude is verified by selecting a wide sample, it is expected that it will be helpful for generalize activities.

More fuzzy hardware are expected to be utilized in the future to construct fuzzy logic controllers (FLCs). It is hard to find an existing fuzzy hardware which is adopting advanced functions such as self-tuning algorithm in addition to the conventional inference calculation. That is mainly because conventional self-tuning algorithms designed to implement with some hardware circuits is required for fuzzy hardwares to have self-tuning capability. As a first step toward the feature, a novel self-tuning algorithm is proposed in this paper. Based on the search method, the main idea of the proposed algorithm is to detemine valid ranges of input variables of an FLC in order to maximize performance indices fo the control system. The performance indices are so ismple as to be realized by hardware circuit. in dadditon to the conventional scaling-factor adjustment, the algorithm adjusts offset values as well, which, in effect, modifies fuzzy rules of the FLC. To justify the performance of the proposed algorithm, a simulation study is executed.

Extract of Japanese red pine needles has been used in Asia pacific regions since long periods believing its valuable properties as tonic and ability of curing diseases of unidentified symptoms. Some selective compounds present in the extract and their effects were analyzed. Carbohydrates and vitamin c were identified using HPLC; terpenoid compounds by GC-MS; anti-bacterial analysis by paper discs, plates count and gastrointestinal motility by whole cell patch clamp. The extract is a mixture of compounds therefore its diverse effect was expected. Self-fermentation in extract proceeds after spontaneous appearance of yeast strains without inoculation. Effects and composition of the extract vary with varying period of self-fermentation. Extract inhibits the growth of bacteria dose dependently exhibiting its antibacterial properties however effectiveness increases with increase in fermentation period. The extract also can modulate gastrointestinal motility in murine small intestine by modulating pace maker currents in ICC mediated through ATP sensitive potassium channel.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to apply intervention mapping (IM) to develop a community-based disease self-management support program for patients with osteoarthritis. Methods: IM was applied as follows: i) a needs assessment has been carried out by a literature review, survey and interview with osteoarthritis patients; ii) on the basis of the needs assessment, identification of expected outcomes and change objectives for the target population; iii) selection of theory-based methods and practical applications to influence self-management and the determinants of behavior; iv) design of the intervention by developing activities and materials such as osteoarthritis self-management guide and smart patient pocket book. The activities were integrated into an existing healthcare activities; v) implementation and evaluation plan has been developed. Results: The program is aimed at improving health status through activating patients by a patient-centered and tailored intervention for patients with osteoarthritis; consists of 8 sessions with coaching and cognitive emotional psychological skills; includes smart patient, communication, osteoarthritis, medication adherence, pain control, depressive mood control, physical activity and healthy diet. Conclusion: The IM is a systematic and feasible method for developing the program. The next step is to evaluate the impact of the intervention on activation, and health status.
Despite the ever-increasing smartphone addiction of adolescents and a variety of consequent problems not much research has been conducted on the issue. It is time to prepare a set of countermeasures to protect them from the addiction. The central purpose of the current paper is to identify how use motives, self-control and social withdrawal affect their smartphone addiction. It was found (i) that the motives of information acquisition, social relationship, amusement and use of leisure time exert significant influence on smartphone addiction, (ii) that less self-control and greater impulsiveness result in greater addiction, and (iii) that social withdrawal of users also have significant effect on smartphone addiction. Such findings are expected to provide base data for any attempt to develop countermeasures against addiction. It is desirable that we had better check the play activities of adolescents and develop self-control programs to help them alleviate impulsiveness than simply impose strict restrictions on the use of smartphones.

The aim of the research is to investigate relationship between drivers' self-control, driving behavior and driving stress. 180 people who have driver's licence and have experiences in driving in Gwangju and Jeonnam area participated for the research. The survey was conducted from 29th April 2015 to 24th July 2015 and data was analysed to figure out the relationship between drivers' self-control, driving behavior and driving stress. As a result, Firstly, drivers' self-control affected mistakes, violations, errors of driving behavior, and driving environment, traffic regulations, accident control, time pressure of driving stress. It showed a statistical significant difference and the higher drivers' self-control is, the lower sub construct factor of driving behavior and driving stress. Secondly, those factors of drivers' self-control, driving behavior and driving stress were correlated. The result showed the relationship between drivers' self-control, driving behavior and driving stress. It is also possible to utilize the information to prevent car accidents. Finally, it is expected to do research further by expanding the participants into multiple areas of people.

The seismic retrofits of existing structures have been focused on the control of structural responses which can be achieved by providing displacement capacity through inelastic ductile action at supplemental devices. Due to their hysteretic characteristics, it is expected to sustain damage through repeated inelastic behaviors including residual deformation which might increase repair costs. To solve such drawbacks of existing yielding devices, this study proposes a self-centering disc spring brace that sustains large axial deformation without structural damage while providing stable energy dissipation capacity. The hysteretic behaviors of suggested brace are first investigated based on the quasi-static cyclic test procedure. Experimental results present the effective self-centering behavior and an analytical model is then suggested in order to reasonably capture the flag-shaped hysteretic behavior of the disc spring brace.
