Magnetic funnel Junctions (MTJs) were fabricated on thermally oxidized Si (100) wafers using DC magnetron sputtering. The film Structures were Ta(50 ${\AA}$)/CU(100 ${\AA}$)$Ni_{80}Fe_{20}(20 $${\AA}$)/Cu(50 ${\AA}$)/$Mn_{75}Ir_{25}(100 $${\AA}$)/$Co_{70}Fe_{30}(25$${\AA}$)/Al-O(15 ${\AA}$)/$Co_{70}Fe_{30}(25 $${\AA}$)/$Ni_{80}Fe_{20}(t)/Ta(50 $${\AA}$), with t=0 ${\AA}$, 100 and 1000 ${\AA}$, respectively. X-ray diffraction has shown improvement of (111) texture of IrMn$_3$ and Cu by annealing. The exchange-biased energy is almost inversely proportional to temperature. The difference between the coercivity H$_c$ and the exchange biased field H$_E$ for t = 0 $_3$ sample is smaller than that for t = 1000 ${\AA}$. For the pinned layer, the decreasing rate of the coercivity with the temperature is higher compared to that of the exchange field, but variation of H$_c$ is similar to that of the exchange field for free layer.
IrMn pinned spin valve (SV) films with stacks of Ta/NiFe/IrMn/CoFe/Cu/CoFe/NiFe/Ta were prepared by dc sputtering onto thermally oxidized Si (111) substrates at room temperature under a magnetic field of about 100 Oe. The annealing cycle number and temperature dependence of exchange coupling field (H$_{ex}$), magnetoresistance (MR) ratio, and coercivity (H$_{c}$) were investigated. By optimizing the process of deposition and post thermal annealing condition, we obtained the IrMn based SV films with MR ratio of 3.6%, H$_{ex}$ of 1180 Oe for the pinned layer. The H$_{ex}$ is stabilized after the second annealing cycle and it is thought that this SV reveals high thermal stability. The H$_{ex}$ maintained its strength of 600 Oe in operation up to 24$0^{\circ}C$ and decreased monotonically to zero at 27$0^{\circ}C$.
We fabricated the synthetic ferrimagnetic layers (SyFL) of permalloy/X (X=Ru, V)/permalloy by varying the X thickness, and investigated the changes of coercivity (H$\sub$c/), spin flopping field (H$\sub$sf/), and saturation magnetization field (H$\sub$s/) with a superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID). We also observed the microstructure with a cross sectional transmission electron microscope (TEM). Permalloy SyFL had less than 10 Oe coercivity, and H$\sub$sf/ and H$\sub$s/ could be tuned by varying ruthenium and vanadium layer thickness. The comparatively small exchange coupling in permalloy-V SyFL was caused by the intermixing of permalloy and vanadium decreasing the effective exchange coupling thickness.
We measure the ferromagnetic resonance signals in order to analyze the exchange coupling energy due to the uncompensated antiferromagnetic spins in exchange coupled CoFe/MnIr bilayers. The exchange bias fields ($H_{ex}$) and rotatable anisotropy fields ($H_{ra}$) are obtained from the ferromagnetic resonance fields measured with in-plane angle in thermal annealed samples with $t_{AF}$= 0, 3, and 10 nm. The sum of the $H_{ex}$ and $H_{ra}$ do not depend on the MnIr thickness, which means that all the uncompensated AF spins are aligned to one direction in $300^{\circ}C$ annealed samples. Therefore, the uncompensated AF spins are divided into two different parts. One parts are fixed at the interface between CoFe/MnIr bilayers and induces the $H_{ex}$, other parts are rotatable with magnetic field and induces the $H_{ra}$. Finally, the exchange coupling energy can be expressed by the sum of the exchange bias energy and rotatable anisotropy energy.
The Korean government announced the "1st Basic Plan for the Transition to Hydrogen Economy" in 2021 and declared the establishment of a hydrogen industry ecosystem by 2040. To build a low-carbon power system, resources that can efficiently accommodate renewable energy are required, and green hydrogen is considered a potential solution. This study analyzed the economic feasibility of green hydrogen-based sector coupling to reduce curtailment of renewable generation in the Jeju power system by 2025 under the scenario of with or without HVDC#3. The result showed that HVDC#3 significantly reduced the frequency of curtailment from 16.1% to 3.0%. In addition, green hydrogen-based sector coupling was an economically feasible option as result showed an IRR of 4.86% when HVDC#3 was connected and 11.45% when it was not under the condition of achieving 50% curtailment reduction. This study shows that the higher the level of renewable energy deployment, the more delayed the HVDC connection between Jeju and the main land, and the lower the SMP, the more economically feasible the green hydrogen-based sector coupling is. Furthermore, this study suggests that the policy goal of completely reducing curtailment is not economically efficient.
MnBi alloys were fabricated by arc melting and annealing at 573 K. The heat treatment enhanced the content of the low-temperature phase (LTP) of MnBi up to 83 wt%. The Bi-excess assisted LTP MnBi alloys were used in the hybridization with the Nd-Fe-B commercial Magnequench ribbons to form the hybrid magnets (100-x)NdFeB/xMnBi, x = 20, 30, 40, 50, and 80 wt%. The as-milled powder mixtures of Nd-Fe-B and MnBi were aligned in a magnetic field of 18 kOe and warm-compacted to anisotropic and dense bulk magnets at 573 K by 2,000 psi for 10 min. The magnetic ordering of two hard phase components strengthened by the exchange coupling enhanced the Curie temperature ($T_c$) of the magnet in comparison to that of the powder mixture sample. The prepared hybrid magnets were highly anisotropic with the ratio $M_r/M_s$ > 0.8. The exchange coupling was high, and the coercivity $_iH_c$ of the magnets was ~11-13 kOe. The maximum value of the energy product $(BH)_{max}$ was 8.4 MGOe for the magnet with x = 30%. The preparation of MnBi alloys and hybrid magnets are discussed in details.
Exchange and interlayer couplings between a NiFe ferromagnetic layer and an antiferromagnetic NiO layer in NiO/NiFe/Cu/NiFe spin-valve films prepared by rf/dc magnetron sputtering were investigated. The interlayer coupling field ($H_{int}$ decreased with the Cu layer thickness, and the exchange coupling field $(H_{ex}$ saturated to 90 Oe. the magnetitudes of $H_{ex}$ and $H_{int}$ decreased with increasing thickness of the pinned NiFe layer. The increase of $H_{int}$ with the free NiFe layer may be due to the increased magnetization.
The objective of this paper is to review the magnetic and magneto-transport properties of Co/$Co_2TiSn$ consisting of two metallic magnetic phases that are antiferromagnetically exchange-coupled at the phase boundary. The bulk Co/$Co_2TiSn$ system, which has a $Co_2$TiSn Heusler alloy precipitates in the hexagonal Co matrix, showed an unusual coercivity change with a concurrent change in temperature, and was modeled on the basis of a wall formation caused by exchange coupling at the phase boundary. For measurements of magneto-transport properties, Co/$Co_2TiSn$ thin films that had two-magnet phases were deposited using a magnetron sputtering system with a composite target. The magnetization process in the films is also explained on the basis of the model of wall formation at the phase boundary. Annealed Co/$Co_2TiSn$ films showed a 0.12% GMR effect, indicating the scattering of polarized conduction electrons due to the antiparallel exchange coupling at the phase boundary. The scattering process of conduction electrons at the phase boundary was modeled with relation to the magnetization process.

Antiferromagnet (AFM)/ferromagnet (FM) bilayer structures are widely used in the magnetic devices of sensor and memory applications, as AFM materials can induce unidirectional anisotropy of the FM material via exchange coupling. The strength of the exchange coupling is known to be sensitive to quality of the interface of the AFM/FM bilayers. In this study, we utilize proton irradiation to modify the interface structures and investigate its effect on the magnetic properties of AFM/FM structures, including the exchange bias and magnetic thermoelectric effect. The magnetic properties of IrMn/CoFeB structures with various IrMn thicknesses are characterized after they are exposed to a proton beam of 3 MeV and $1{\sim}5{\times}10^{14}ions/cm^2$. We observe that the magnetic moment is gradually reduced as the amount of the dose is increased. On the other hand, the exchange bias field and thermoelectric voltage are not significantly affected by proton irradiation. This indicates that proton irradiation has more of an influence on the bulk property of the FM CoFeB layer and less of an effect on the IrMn/CoFeB interface.

Without a definitive resolution of stoichiometry of cardiac Na$^{+}$-Ca$^{2+}$exchange (NCX), we cannot proceed to any quantitative analysis of exchange function as well as cardiac excitation-contraction coupling. The stoichiometry of cardiac NCX, however, is presently in doubt because reversal potentials determined by various groups range between those expected for a 3-to-1 and a 4-to-1 flux coupling. For a new perspective on this problem, we have used ion-selective microelectrodes to quantify directly exchanger-mediated fluxes of $Ca^{2+}$and Na$^{+}$in giant membrane patches. $Ca^{2+}$- and Na$^{+}$-selective microelectrodes, fabricated from quartz capillaries, are placed inside of the patch pipettes to detect extracellular ion transients associated with exchange activity. Ion changes are monitored at various distances from the membrane, and the absolute ion fluxes through NCX are determined via simulations of ion diffusion and compared with standard ion fluxes (Ca$^{2+}$ fluxes mediated by $Ca^{2+}$ ionophore, and Na$^{+}$ fluxes through gramicidin channels and Na$^{+}$/K$^{+}$pumps). Both guinea pig myocytes and NCX1-expressing BHK cells were employed, and for both systems the calculated stoichiometries for inward and outward exchange currents range between 3.2- and 3.4-to-1. The coupling ratios do not change significantly when currents are varied by changing cytoplasmic [Ca$^{2+}$] or by adding cytoplasmic Na$^{+}$. The exchanger reversal potentials, measured in both systems under several ionic conditions, range from 3.1- to 3.3-to-1. Taken together, a clear discrepancy from a NCX stoichiometry of 3-to-1 was obtained. Further definitive experiments are required to acquire a fixed number, and the present working hypothesis is that NCX current has an extra current via ‘conduction mode’.ent via ‘conduction mode’.
