Last year's Goseong-Sokcho forest fires have highlighted the limitations of extinguishing work for night-time forest fire and the importance of quick identification for information on the spread of forest fire. However, it is not easy to find services that take into account the characteristics of forest fires, as most existing disaster-related mobile applications and research assume various disaster situations rather than just forest fire situations. Therefore, a system that can provide information quickly is needed, taking into account the characteristics of forest fires and the limitations of extinguishing work. In this paper, we propose evacuation route guidance services that bypass areas where fire has already spread, supplement existing methods of extinguishing work, and provide general information on forest fire situations in real time, by putting drones into forest fire situations. It has been implemented to automate image analysis using the Rekognition service of Amazon Web Service (AWS), and the results of fire detection and the T Map API guide the evacuation path. It is expected that the results of this paper will allow efficient and rapid rescue and extinguishing work to be carried out, and further reduce the damage of human life caused by forest fires.

In this paper, we present a risk prediction system and customized evacuation pathfinding algorithm in fire scenarios. For the risk prediction, we apply a multi-level clustering mechanism using collected temperature at sensor nodes throughout the network in order to predict the temperature at the time that users actually evacuate. Based on the predicted temperature and its reliability, we suggest an evacuation pathfinding algorithm that finds a suitable evacuation path from a user's current location to the safest exit. Simulation results based on FDS(Fire Dynamics Simulator) of NIST for a wireless sensor network consisting of 47 stationary nodes for 1436.41 seconds show that our proposed prediction system achieves a higher accuracy by a factor of 1.48. Particularly for nodes in the most reliable group, it improves the accuracy by a factor of up to 4.21. Also, the customized evacuation pathfinding based on our prediction algorithm performs closely with that of the ground-truth temperature in terms of the ratio of safe nodes on the selected path, while outperforming the shortest-path evacuation with a factor of up to 12% in terms of a safety measure.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to promote the disaster safety village establishment project that fits the characteristics of rural areas by investigating and analyzing the operation cases of contents with regard to disaster safety villages in Korea and Japan. Method: The contents of project related to disaster safety villages in Korea and Japan were classified into resident participation contents, structured contents and unstructured contents, for examining the characteristics of such contents through investigation and analysis, and the contents (draft) of disaster safety village that fitted the characteristics of rural areas were presented. Result: The contents of resident participation include basic safety education, CPR education, life experience training of evacuation shelter, evacuation training, concurrent training of farming activity and disaster activity and creating a village safety map in connection with competent authorities. The enactment of an act and an ordinance for the establishment of disaster safety village, expert dispatch system, storm and flood insurance system and funding system to raise the fund for establishing a village were presented as unstructured contents. In addition, the production of self supporting evacuation shelter, wireless evacuation announcement system, disaster prevention system for a river, emergency evacuation sign, village safety map sign and the establishment of disaster prevention park were presented as structured contents. Conclusion: The unstructured contents are the establishment of foundation for preparing laws and institutions and the structured contents should be installed by utilizing eco-friendly methods in consideration of the environments of rural areas along with securing the safety. Moreover, resident participation should utilize the contents by considering various items such as age, characteristics and environments of residents in rural villages.

Residents near the fire site are more anxious as they rely only on media information and the government's evacuation order due to the lack of information to understand the progress of the wildfire. Therefore, in the event of a wildfire, we try to understand the inconvenience of not being able to know the progress of the fire and solve it. This makes it possible to check the progress of wildfires and the spread of debris using the system interface (API) and weather data of the thermal infrared satellite image data (NASA FIRMS, Fire Information for Resource Management System), and finally, the purpose of this study. The results are provided through the Web including GIS-based visualization to provide decision-making reference information for evacuation in the event of a forest fire from the perspective of residents.

To investigate activities in the evacuated situation of people, the measurement system is newly constructed, that composed of a wearable sensor device of heart beats rates and mobile devices like an Android smartphone with a bluetooth low energy (BLE) connection. Smartphone not only displays the heart beats variation (HBR) and the current location of evacuation person by Global Positioning System (GPS), but also exports the CSV formatted file that would be used for further analyzing the activity of person in detail. As an example of the application of this system, we show the case of evacuation routes for elderly person in Hizen-Hamashuku Area, Saga Prefecture. Using the proposed measuring system, the activities of evacuates can be clearly shown on the map of Geospatial Information System (GIS).
Many pedestrian or fire evacuation models have been studied last decades for modeling evacuation behaviors or analysing building structures under emergency situations. However, currently developed models do not consider the differences of visibility of pedestrians by obstacles such as furniture, wall, etc. The visibility of pedestrians is considered one of the important factors that affect the evacuation behavior, leading to making simulation results more realistic. In order to incorporate pedestrian's visibility into evacuation simulation, we should be able to give different walking speeds according to differences of visibility. We improved the existing floor field model based on cellular automata in order to implement the visibility. Using the space syntax theory, we showed how we split the indoor spaces depending on the different visibilities created by different levels of structural depths. Then, we improved the algorithm such that pedestrians have different speeds instead of simultaneous movement to other cells. Also, in order for developing a real time simulation system integrated w ith indoor sensors later, we present a process to build a 3D simulator using a spatial DBMS. The proposed algorithm is tested using a campus building.

Evacuation process has been considered as one of the most important elements to be managed in public facilities. Although the importance is highlighted through numerous literatures, disaster evacuation planning, particularly fire accidents, faces a number of human behavior related limitations for a similar application to different types of facilities/occupants. To overcome the obstacles including complexity in human behaviors, a number of simulation techniques with limited consideration on human behaviors are utilized to predict foreseeable problems in evacuation process. Therefore, this research aims to propose system dynamics models incorporating human behaviors considering different types of occupants under disaster evacuation events. Analysis on emergent human behaviors such as group forming and interactions under urgent situation are conducted based on the main stream theories in social science field. The results suggest the influences of human behavior factors including cooperative intention, information sharing, and mobility change to evacuation behavior. The implications are expected to provide safety consideration at planning/designing phase of buildings and help facility safety managers for evacuation planning with more realistic management approaches.

Tsunami happens rarely enough to allow a false sense of security, but when they do occur, there may be just minutes or hours for people to reach a safe location. Natural disasters like tsunami are inevitable and it is almost impossible to fully recoup damages caused by the disasters. However, it is possible to minimize the potential risk by developing early warning strategies. GIS modelling with its geoprocessing and analysis capability can play a crucial role in efficient mitigation and management of disaster. This study aims at developing integrated spatial information system processing model supporting tsunami evacuation action planning using geo-information technology such as GIS. The integration process classified into four phases. And in each phase, required input data and GIS processes are decided. The main effort in minimizing casualties in tsunami disaster is to evacuate people from the hazard area before tsunami strikes by means of either horizontal or vertical evacuation. The study provides essential spatial information for local decision making related with people's evacuation in tsunami-prone areas based on a modeling approach transferable to other coastal areas.

Using current evacuation methods, a crew describes the physical location of an accident and guides evacuation using alarms and emergency guide lights. However, in case of an accident on a large and complex building, an intelligent and effective emergency evacuation system is required to ensure the safety of evacuees. Therefore, several studies have been performed on intelligent path finding and emergency evacuation algorithms which are centralized guidance methods using gathered data from distributed sensor nodes. However, another important aspect is effective rescue guidance in an emergency situation. So far, there has been no consideration on the efficient rescue guidance scheme. Therefore, this paper proposes the genetic algorithm based emergency rescue guidance method using distributed wireless sensor networks. Performance evaluation using a computer simulation shows that the proposed scheme guarantees efficient path finding. The fitness converges to the minimum value in reasonable time. The density of each exit node is remarkably decreased as well.

Purpose: The goal of this research is to create a numerical analytic database that may assist fire prevention managers and building officials in prioritizing items that need to be addressed in order to improve evacuation safety performance while working within a constrained budget and time frame. Method: It was carried out utilizing the CFD Tool, a quantitative evaluation approach, to assess evacuation safety. One direct staircase-type apartment houses and one corridor-type apartment were chosen to make it. Result: In the fire compartment category, Apartment A's evacuation time was around 130 percent longer than that of sprinkler facilities. Conclusion: Fire prevention managers and building officials feel that starting with a single level and implementing "dwelling unit separations" will increase evacuation safety, and that maintaining fire compartments and sprinkler systems at all times will be effective. Because of the limited characteristics of smoke propagation in corridor-type apartments compared to direct staircase-type flats, it is thought that fire extinguishing equipment should be addressed.
